We asked Kreg to build us cabinetry in our living room and dining room and regret every bit of it. He has poor work ethic, routinely showing up at 10am and leaving by 2pm. He does sloppy work. His joints were uneven. He did not fill nail holes. He doesn't believe in sanding. He tries several times to convince us something was adequately painted when the base coat was showing. He got paint all over the walls and floor and never cleaned it up His cuts were jagged and he would use poor quality lumber. When I asked him to fix certain mistakes he would say " ok I'll take care of it " and then never do it. He needed baby sitting to make sure the work was done but still did it poorly. He told us the job would take 2 weeks, which seemed long for the scope of the project, 8weeks in he still hasn't finished. We told him he has until the end of the week to finish and he has not responded back yet. He made several inappropriate comments to people in our neighborhood. He invited strangers over for a "wine tasting" at our house. We are having someone else finish his work in our living room and having all of his sloppy work in the dining room ripped out and rebuilt. I do NOT recommend using Kreg's company at all. For a year and a half we had being looking forward to putting built-ins in our family room and once we had enough money saved up, we were beyond excited. Nearly everyone in our neighborhood recommended Kreg highly (still no idea why). We got a quote from him and my first sign to not have gone with him should have been the fact he got butt hurt when I said I am getting multiple estimates. I was taught my whole life to always get more than one estimate for any major job for your house. But whatever. We decided to go with him given multiple factors. I had a picture of my in-laws' built-ins as a basis of what I wanted ours to look like and he said he could do it for us. For the first few days of the job (he said it will take about a week), everything was running smoothly baring a few off-hand, rude comments towards my husband. You will see a common theme of odd, childish behavior here. Not at all professional. However, come the final day when I came home from work the "finished" product looked NOTHING like the picture I had shown. Apparently, he just installed his generic built-ins template he does for everyone else's house and as we figured out....is because it's the only thing he knows how to do. Nonetheless, the next week he spent 3 days trying to fix it. As the previous review mentioned, we had to fight him every step of the way to get it to look right. He was nasty and rude those last few days and by the end of it, we just wanted him gone. On that third day, he said the lights that were part of our design would be coming in the next Monday and stupidly enough, we gave him the final payment. Again, similar to previous reviewer, that Monday he never reached out to us nor installed the lights. On Wednesday, I had asked where our lights and no response. It wasn't until I threatened to open a dispute with American Express that he miraculously texted back. He did ultimately come back and install the lights the next day. However, the finished product is just not that great (I have uploaded images of it). Additionally, I didn't realize you had to specify you wanted shelves in your cabinets because we did not get them :/ All-in-all, horrible experience. This guy made an appointment with me, and also sent an email to confirm. Then he was a no show/not call, nor did he bother to respond to the email I sent him after his no show/no call. Probably best to choose another woodworker unless you don't mind wasting your time. From the other reviews and the looks of the photos from customers he did do work for, though, I dodged a bullet! This guy does not appear to be reliable, does not do a good job, and has problems with behaving appropriately. read more

Kreg was quick to respond to my initial inquiries. He came over to my house, did a design consultation and estimate ($4600), accepted a deposit ($750) and said he would begin the last week of October 2015. He finally began in the last week of November 2015, had to be monitored EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY to prevent shoddy or half-finished work, and when the job began to take longer than he anticipated, he and his crew sped up, trying to get the job finished as soon as humanly possible. The quality suffered terribly. On his "last day" I told him plainly that I did not consider the work finished at all, presented him a punch list of items I wanted finished. He looked me right in the eye and said he understood, and that he was going to get these items taken care of for me. Then I foolishly gave him payment in full as he promised to return the next week to take care of that list. That was two and a half months ago, and he has ignored all my attempts at communication. He does not respond to phone calls, texts, or emails. The shoddy works includes: insufficient coating of paint applied in spots, excessive stain applied, uneven sanding in spots, overtly visible joints throughout, caulking peeling away at the joints, and worst of all... A BANK OF DRAWERS THAT ARE UNEVEN AND DO NOT LINE UP, BOTH VERTICALLY, AND IN TERMS OF DEPTH. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE WORK ON THOSE DRAWERS. Kind of stunning that ANY carpenter would think for a minute that the client would be okay with the work he did on those drawers. Also failed to install the last shelf that was agreed he would install. I even offered to pay him an additional $175 to come back and fix the drawers and put up that shelf. But he will not respond to me at all. Total radio silence. read more
