Country West Construction & Real Estate

Country West Construction & Real Estate

We built with Country West over 2 yrs ago, and to be honest, the experience was a little rough. We…read morehardly met face to face with anyone throughout the process...they took the dirt from digging the foundation and sold it to someone else...leaving us with nothing to grade with, forcing us to have to bring in 12 dump truck loads of dirt (not cheap), and the finishing work ran into some hiccups as well. The framing was not straight in our bonus room, and after bringing it to their attention may times...they did nothing about it...then the Sheetrock and finishing guys proceeded to throw up the drywall and baseboards. Still, nothing was done about the warped studs and nothing was flush. The wall looked like an elephant was leaning against it on the other side and it was caving in. I could stick my finger in between the drywall and the base board. It was pretty bad. Once we finally got over that hurdle, they tried to close the house on us prematurely. The finish work was maybe 90% done at the time? That was very disappointing to us. I wish the experience was a bit smoother. Do we love our house? You bet we do. There were just a few things that we wish had gone smoother, more responsibility from them, and more face to face time from Country West. If they improved their customer service experience a bit, i think they'll have it.

We recently moved into our new home that was built by Country West. This was not our first home…read morethat we have built and our experience was as good if not better than expected. We checked with other builders before and felt we were not getting as much bang for our buck as we expected. Country West allowed us to work directly with the Architect on the plans to make some changes to make this home ours and not just a cookie cutter plan. We worked with the sub contractors directly which gave us a tremendous amount of flexibility in how the finish product came out. All of the sub contractors were very professional and when my wife had to meet with them on her own they showed her a lot of respect. All of the subcontractors were what I would consider smaller home grown subcontractors. We liked this because they seemed to take a lot of pride in their work and it showed in the finished product. Flexibility was paramount with this builder. Many builders meet with you and then you can't make changes down the road. I know this probably drives these guys crazy at times but they never show it. We were given a contact for the financing early on in the process which proved to be a huge benefit. Our closing went smooth because of their thoroughness through the whole process. Like anything it was not all smooth sailing and we ran into a few snags but how the builder responded makes all the difference. Because we had built a home before we knew that the process is very involved and there were bound to be a few glitches. They were quick to respond and make the corrections quickly. Hopefully we never have build again, only because we really like where we are at now, but if we do we will definitely give Country West a call on our next home.

We had an excellent experience with Utah Basements this past year. They completed our unfinished…read morebasement with 2 bedrooms, large living area, exercise room, utility room, linen closet, under the stairs closet, and full bath. They were able to schedule us immediately once we received all the bids, and the project took roughly 9 weeks from start to final walkthrough. Utah Basements was the second highest bid received, partly because they did not do the flooring (which we got through RC Willey). Communicating with Todd was very convenient, and he responded quickly to text, email, and messages through the UBKB online client portal, where we formally documented design changes. Victor was on site most days and was extremely professional and very friendly. He answered all of our questions, gave helpful suggestions, and always contacted us when there was an issue or he needed direction. Once materials were in, the crew made fantastic progress framing, plumbing, and electrical. The rest of the process went very smoothly, with the minor exception that a bunch of paint touch ups were needed, but those were taken care of immediately. Overall we had a top-notch experience with Todd, Victor and UBKB, couldn't be happier with the final product, and would definitely recommend them if you need a basement finished!

I hired Sias W. Parsons IV, Derek Parker, and Ryan Riggs from Big Yeti Builders LLC in Ogden, Utah,…read moreto demolish an existing deck, construct a new deck, and install a Renaissance Classico cover over a portion of it. The cover has leaked since shortly after installation, causing water to pool on the deck and creating a slipping hazard from ice buildup. I first contacted the company for warranty support after the initial leak in the fall of 2025. Derek Parker came out and retaped the seams on the awning, stating that this was the repair method recommended by the manufacturer, Renaissance. After the first snow in early December and then thaw, the awning began leaking severely. On December 4, 2025, I reached out again and left multiple voicemail messages and emails requesting assistance but received no return communication. On December 18, 2025, after I sent an email, the company finally acknowledged my concerns via email, took responsibility for the lack of communication, and promised to schedule warranty work. However, as of January 19, 2026, no further action nor communication has taken place. Because the office phone is not answered and voicemail messages are not returned, I requested via email that someone come out between January 9 and January 16, 2026, to at least document the situation including written notes, photos, and a detailed description of the problem and to confirm next steps for repair since we understand it may be a challenge to repair in the winter time. That request has gone unanswered. In my experience, Big Yeti Builders and its representatives have not followed through on their stated commitments regarding warranty service. Communication with the office manager, Kim Crandall, when she does answer the phone, has also not resulted in any confirmed action or resolution. As of January 19, 2026, their contractor license (#10687874-5501) expired. This review is based solely on my personal experience with this company. I recommend that prospective customers ensure they receive clear written documentation of warranty terms, follow-up procedures, and payment schedules before hiring.

When we decided to use these guys he came back on a Saturday to do our contract. He stuck to the estimate he gave us and gave us exactly what we wanted. He even took the time to discuss how the deck should be rebuilt so that it will last longer. They came out on a Tuesday and started in. Torn down the old deck, cleaned up the area, then stared in on the new deck. By the end of the day most of the new deck was done. The next day was finishing up the trim and installing the railing. Again, once it was done they did a great job cleaning up the area. Saving this company's business card for other work I need done in the future. They are worth it.
