I decided to stop by the shop on my day off. Calling it s bike shop is too narrow of a definition it's more of an electric bike center with rentals, sales, and short term rentals available at the location. Its a great way to immerse yourself in electric bike culture. Lee was busy with his bike advocacy work so he turned me over to his shop manager Nathan. I was able to test ride three different types of electric bikes and by the end of that experience I understand why they're e-bikes are catching on so quickly. The Center's west side location gives you good access to bike routes to explore right from the shop. The technology has definitely evolved since the last time I rode and e-bike. All the bikes look clean and well-maintained and all three bikes I rode perform perfectly. I rode one bike that was had thick tires and reminded me some what of a pick up truck I noticed that one used a little bit more power than the others but I think they would have adequate range for an afternoon biking on the west side of Maui and seeing the sights. What can I say the top of the line e-bike with the crank based assist motor seem to work the best for me that's also the more expensive option for purchase. Definitely worth checking out if you're thinking of going the E bike route.

And another thing that would be great is to have GPS or a shared Google map for turn by turn instructions instead of paper instructions. Maui Sunriders Bike Shop in Kihei has a solid reputation, but my first experience with them was…read moredisappointing due to a preventable reservation issue. I reserved an e-bike on December 21 for a Christmas Day ride, with a return on the 26th. Their online system let me submit the reservation without any warnings or restrictions. But when I showed up to pick it up, I was told they wouldn't rent it to me because they're closed on the 25th, and someone else had the bike booked on the 26th. They also said they needed time to tune the bike in between. That explanation is understandable. What's not understandable is that nobody told me ahead of time. If they had reached out earlier, I could have adjusted the plan. I didn't even mind paying for an extra day to make it work. The bigger issue is that the reservation system shouldn't allow you to book dates that can't actually be fulfilled. I'm open to giving them another try, but they really need to fix the reservation process and communication so customers don't find out at pickup that the rental can't happen.

My family and I were walking the Canary mall and saw a sign for a sunset cruise outside of Boss…read moreFrogs. We decided to go in and get more information. We spoke with Lenny Verrastro and he ended up selling us on a Snorkeling cruise instead. He raved on about how it was a 4 1/2 hr cruise with two seperate new dive spots that they've only been going to for about 2 weeks and that we would have 1 1/2 hrs at each spot to snorkel. We got there and went out, the crew was great and friendly. After an hour and half boat ride we got to the first spot and we're able to go snorkel. After about an hour and half I went back on the boat to get ready for the next spot. I heard one of the crew announce 20 more minutes and then we will be heading back. I asked about the second spot and the informed me that they dont do two spots, only one. I asked about what I had been sold by Lenny that we would be going to two spots and they said this boat (the Quicksilver) does not do two spots, they never have and that Lenny must have got confused with their other boat the Calipso. This was very dissapointing as I had not taken any pictures at this spot thinking that I would have a chance at the next spot. In order to have pictures, we ended up having to purchase pictures from the photographer on board which was extremely overpriced. When we got back to the landing, I went into the Boss Frogs there and let them know what had happened. They said there was nothing they could do and gave me a number to call. The next day I called Lenny to ask about what happened. I explained that we only went to one spot (which was neither of the 2 he said we would go to) and that when I asked the crew they said that he must have been mistaken because they only go to one spot. He apologized and then proceed to tell me that the crew was wrong and he doesn't know why they would tell me that and they were supposed to go to two spots. After a bit of conversation not getting anywhere, I ended the call and called the number given by the Boss Frogs at the landing. The number was for the boats reservations. I spoke to them and explained again what had happened to which they also explained that the Quicksilver only goes to one spot and their other two boats both make two stops. She said the Lenny must have been confused and there was nothing they could do, I would have to call Lenny back. I didn't feel that I would get anywhere calling him back so I came here to warn everyone to stay away from Boss Frogs for your boat tours and especially do not book anything through Lenny. The boats were great and the crew was awesome, I would recommend them. You can call the boat reservation line directly at 808-661-9937. **Follow Up** Within 2 hours of my yelp review I received a reply on Yelp, an email from Boss Frogs business manager and a call back from Lenny all apologizing for the misinformation and they processed a partial refund.
