My daughter is bonkers for them, and while I don't get it... I suppose I'm just as culpable when it comes to things like fishing rods and reels... you can always have one more. Anyway, we came to the store and were greeted by the vapid and seemingly surprised stares of the two adorable kids sitting behind the counter. They seemed to be working there, but not very hard. They smiled politely, seemingly wondering why are these two Gen-X old people in our store. I looked around casually, noting the astronomical prices of resin-made statuary featuring anatomically inaccurate and scantily clad Hentai characters in a glass case, and then walking back towards the more tame stuffed animals shaped like sushi and boba milk tea plush creatures with smiles embroidered on them. We weren't there long. Oh, but they did have an AMAZING selection of those little Naked Sunny Angel things, with like the ocean series, the food series, and a bunch of other meaningless themes that my daughter loves. We bought a few, and headed for other parts of that strange indoor-outdoor mall with a giant banyan tree growing up through the middle of it. If you like half-nude Hentai figures.... and you're in Waikiki... and you already visited the Fendi store.... this may be your jam.

It turned out to be in Downtown close to Chinatown. While it doesn't have the scale of the Last Bookstore, this store shares some of the unique design elements of its SoCal progenitor like curving shelves and large vinyl collection. A broad scan of the books on display reflects titles that seem more avant garde than more commercial curations with sections devoted to science fiction, horror, true crime, and rock music. Jamie found an existential book about his favorite band called "Queen and Philosophy" (Photo 9), while I bought an intriguing manga cosplay history book called "Otaku Japan" (Photo 5). Started thinking about transporting them home...oh well I guess I will have another carry on. I didn't have a whole lot of time to dig so I asked about a few titles / artists I really wanted to find. The gentleman at the counter couldn't have been more helpful. He walked me right over to where those discs were. He knew the inventory inside and out and knew just what section to lead me to. I also purchased a second coin collection book for my reference. Another book on using Lemons, salt and baking soda. I observed a small leak by the clearance racks. I do, sad they are gone) and in Don Quixote before they finally settled at this current location in Kakaako a few yrs ago. Just an fyi their parking is limited here and is pretty tight. Just like their Pearlridge location, this location sells an assortment of used and maybe even some hidden new books, movies, cds, toys, etc. Some of them have very good value/cost, but just remember to always double check your prices (I once found two copies of the same dvd, one was $5 the other was $7). The service is also very good here, their employees are nice and they handle their buyback program very efficiently. Just be advised that they pretty much give pennies on the dollar, so you might not make much money here. But it's good if you just want to purge some stuff and if you're in the area.

It is a little on the pricier side, but if you like to display or customize your favorite characters they have products for that. Little accessories like keychains, photo, card frames and bags. There are also claw machines inside. There was time they had Attack on Titan plushies in those claw machines and I spent about $15 on it. *sigh* The last time I was there, I believe they are a CARD ONLY establishment.
