We just closed escrow on our first home and KPL Select has been instrumental in the process going as smoothly as it did. At first we worked with Ron who walked us through everything we needed to know being first time home buyers and who provided us with customized pre-approval letters every time we needed to make an offer on a property. We were impressed that he was ALWAYS available by phone, including after hours and weekends, and he was always FAST. After we got an offer accepted, Conor became our main contact. He coordinated all the paperwork back and forth between us and the lender and was always prompt and on top of things. At the final stages we also worked with Tina, who was just as fast and efficient as the other two guys. We give KPL an A+ for their services and would definitely use again. I should also mention, they got us a great rate with one of their wholesale partners, which was much better than any rate advertised by major banks, no points needed to get our hands on that rate, and thanks to lender credit and refunds, our closing costs ended up being much lower than anticipated. So a win-win all around. They also made sure we got our loan officially approved by the date when we needed to remove contingencies on the purchase contract, and stayed in close touch with the underwriters to ensure this would happen, even though the lender would typically require 1-2 days longer to complete that part of the process. Highly recommended! P.S. The bad review for KPL Select seems to be about their property management branch. I can't comment on that, since I have no personal experience, but note that this Yelp page is supposed to be about the mortgage branch (which is even at a different location than the property management dpt.). Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! I responded to an ad placed on Craigslist regarding a condo for lease managed by KPL Select Mortgage. I left a message for Leeza, leaving my full name, contact information, and expressing interest in viewing the property. After failing to hear from Leeza on Monday, I called and left a second message on Tuesday morning. Again, Leeza failed to return my call. Around 5:00pm on Tuesday, I placed a third call to Leeza, finally reaching her. After learning more about the condo, and receiving not even a hint of concern for ignoring my phone calls, Leeza asked what my availability is to view the apartment. I let her know that I was very flexible and she suggested 11:00am Wednesday. I agreed and she said she would call before 9:00am to "confirm." Being familiar with the courtesy reminder call, I was pleased that her level of customer care had improved. I woke Wednesday, expecting a call from Leeza. However, Leeza failed to call. I assumed, as is customary when scheduling an appointment, that she would simply meet me at 11:00am. I was wrong. Instead, Leeza blew me off. While standing in front of the building housing the condo, I reached her via cellphone and she indicated that she never confirmed, so we never had an appointment. Mind you, we had an appointment, just one that Leeza believed she could cancel without calling me. I am shocked by the unprofessional and incompetent behavior exhibited by Leeza and KPL. It baffles my mind that any property owner would put her in charge of leasing their apartment. The sad part is that we were very interested in the condo, which was renting for $2795 per month (1250 Amherst Ave.). I drove more than 15 miles and sat in traffic for nearly an hour to make the appointment. If you own property and are looking for a management company, please avoid KPL Select Mortgage unless you don't mind having it empty for months before they get around to treating you like a customer. Likewise, if you are a renter and KPL is advertising a property, avoid making contact or you will regret it when something in the apartment goes wrong. read more
