*dogs are not allowed in the KP Hole park, only on the outside of the park at the launch if they are getting onto/into a water vessel* Love KP Hole...very specifically the launch. It's a great way to enter the Rainbow River midway between the spring head and the lower springs. The swimming hole is great too. You can rent tubes, kayaks, SUPs, and several touring groups launch from KP.

Great summer weekend family activity. You can spend 4 hours on a floater down the river. The current is very slow, like a very lazy river. You are allowed to bring a cooler with food and drinks but IMPORTANT: nothing can be in disposable containers, no plastic bottles, capri suns, napkins or plastic plates or silverware. AND absolute no alcohol, they are very strict with these rules. Get there early, before 9:00 on weekends. Have fun!!

Kudos to the workers who did their best to accommodate our large group and got us parking spots! The place is very well kept. We didn't purchase anything extra, only the pass to have access to swim. Everyone inside over a certain age needs to purchase bracelet. They do check to make sure you have one. There was a lot of people and the swim area was crowded. The water was clear and my family enjoyed our time here. Make sure to bring a canopy or one of those pop up beach shades to stay out of the sun when you're not in the water. You also need something to sit on if the benches are being used. There are picnic benches located on the back side of the restrooms. I didn't see any vending machines, so bring snacks and drinks.

Went to KP hole to launch our own SUP boards and take a journey upstream to Rainbow River State Park. If you're going on a busy weekend, you might want to consider looking into VIP parking (must book a day before). The parking lot closest to the activities is smaller, we went the first weekend in June around 9 am and we're able to squeeze into the last inch of space in the parking lot. There was a second parking lot a bit further but we got lucky. It was $7 to launch our boards each. We decided against the shuttle bus because we paddled upstream 1.5 miles and floated back to KP. The current was kinda strong going upstream, but slow and steady and we made it! The reason we choose KP to launch our own boards vs. the state park was by recommendation. Apparently it's further to carry your boards, by a lot if you go to the state park. If you're planning a trip here just know they are serious about alcohol and check your coolers and water bottles with a vapor sensing flashlight thing. Personally I wish we could have brought in drinks to enjoy on the water, so if you find a way good for you!

    River access for swimmers.

I arrived here around 9am just to swim for about 30minutes and there was still plenty of parking and only one other group swimming! It was $7 to get in and the water was crystal clear with lots of fishies. The bathrooms were clean and there were lockers, outdoor and indoor showers. Would definitely come back to paddleboard or ride the ferry upstream and check out the rest of the springs!

This place is absolutely stunning! The water is refreshing, the scenery is amazing, and the staff is friendly. Our tour guide - Andrew - took me and my group out on glass bottom kayaks to tour the river. He was AMAZING! He knew his nature and was very friendly and social. MY ONLY COMPLAINTS are: the people and the time management. Maybe I got screwed, but we took off 30 mins after our start time. To add on, when we entered the walking section of the Spring, it felt as if we were there forever. If you are gonna come here, just rent a kayak and go solo. The tour group will only drag you behind. Absolutely stunning though!

Drift dive time! Great place with a fun opportunity to drift dive!

Great drift dive opportunity with a fantastic facility. We all enjoyed our trips up the river and what we saw under the water. Great facilities between dives made it a nice day!

Marion County, what in the world are you doing? Reserving spots in the park for private scuba companies to come in and you turn away 100s of families who've come here to tube, kayak, and paddle. How dare you! All out for money instead of your community. At least 30 spots available in the lot that could have been used for families who came to enjoy the park. What a bunch of sell outs!

Looking for outdoor fun, then KP HOLE at Rainbow Springs, is definitely the place you would like to visit. Highly recommend you getting there early, the park opens at 8am. Upon arrival, make sure you have all your bags ready in a waterproof or water resistant bag. All coolers and water bottles/thermos/ will be screened or tested for alcohol (alcohol is not allowed), law enforcement is present. Here's my recommendation, if you are not an early bird, you can go online and purchase a Vip park pass (for the selected date that you would like to go parking for 1 vehicle and 6 tubes on hold) At KP HOLE State Park, there is so many options when it comes to indoor activities You can also Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Board, there also have tem for rent is you do not open any of these personal water equipment. There's a daily user fee of $5.00 per person, for paddlers, picnicking and swimmers. Children under the ages of five are FREE! Tubing is highly recommended, tube rentals are available ($10. Per person which includes a shuttle ride at the end of the Blue Run of Dunnellon Park) know as the Tuber's exit. Approxiate four and a half hours of slow down stream tubing. Restrooms are available, as well as showers an rinse off stations. Please note, there are two lines ( cash online and credit only) Please note, prices are always subjected to changes, call ahead to make sure park will be open if you are planning a trip to Dunnellon(Marion County) for the springs. Especially with Covid19 restrictions, every City will be different in the State of Florida.

My friend and I decided to venture to the springs on a Friday morning. Though not feasible for many during the week when school is on and majority of people are working it is the best time to go. We had no issues finding parking and went right in to pay our parking fee and tubing: $20 total. If you go during summertime or the weekend then I highly advise you arrive early. The park is following the CDC guidelines and is restricting the amount of visitors that can go in. The day we went apparently, the park had only had 38 Tubers go so far. It was great ! At times , it was only my friend and I on the river. Very peaceful and calm. The river itself is very slow , 4 hours or a little less you will be floating. For some, this might be a plus but for other a negative . Just thought I'd throw it out there. My friend and I enjoyed our time floating away looking at the pretty houses and saying hi to the fellow tubers, swimmers and boats. During some parts of the river there are signs that guide you on where to continue tubing. Upon disembarking you wait on a nearby park for a shuttle to pick you and your float away. The wait time varies but don't despair, they will show up. Ps. There was a sign instructing you to tub away from a gator route . I didn't see any but just throwing it out there. Over all, highly recommend you float away.

This tubing experience is great....and quite extensive....I mean, it's loooonnnggg! Let me begin with parking..... If you turn onto 190 Ave Rd and you see parking has already started filling up in the lot immediately on your right, don't even bother going to the KP Hole park entrance or its parking across the street of it....just park in this overflow lot. There is a shuttle that will bring you to the park. Admission to the park, parking, tube rental, the shuttle to return from the water and tax is a flat $20. Their website is FULL of great information, so READ the deets and you'll be golden. Heed the rules on alcohol, they actually have a device they wave OVER the containers of liquid you bring and check to ensure they do not have alcohol...like a breathalyzer. Pretty cool technology! When they say 4 hours plus.....I'd plan on AT LEAST 4 hours (and this is just water time) because when I was there about a month ago, it was about 5 hours and there was a good amount of rain in the weeks prior. The ride is great, nice views, cool water on your bum, jump out of your tube and swim or even snorkel if you like....it's really nice. You CAN (and should) bring a cooler for food and drinks - you'll be on the water a long time so stay fueled and hydrated. When you get to the correct bridge (the BIG one) to exit off the river, you meet the bus or shuttle that will take you back to the overflow parking or the park entrance. If you parked at the overflow parking and want to change clothes - you will either have to walk back from the park entrance or change at the car. Outside. For a really long, but a FUN (and hot!) day on the water, this is a fun alternative to normal every day life. It can be relaxing (although I've tried napping on the water and haven't been able to)...

The area is a bit small and there isn't really a lot of sun spots for you to chill at. It is cool to experience once but I think if you tube, you still will be able to get a swim in because parts of the river are pretty deep. After the swim area, we headed to the tubing section. It is a 15 minute drive from the main park entrance. The fee was 54 for two people that had an annual pass. Highly recommend bringing a small cooler with snacks and drinks and an extra tube for it. It took us about 2 hours to float back to our car and the river is very calm and relaxing. I've floated a river in San Antonio but wasn't as nice as Rainbow springs. Very clean and the water is sooo clear. Overall, really enjoyed our day visit to this state park!

I came expecting a peaceful, relaxing experience because that's what you see in the pictures and reviews. Instead, I ended up in one of the scariest moments of my life. I fell out of my tube and got stuck in deep mud. My water shoe was literally sucked into the mud, and I couldn't push myself up from the bottom. I couldn't get back on my tube because my legs were stuck, and I had already gone underwater and was coughing. What made it even worse was that my daughter, who cannot swim, had drifted away and I couldn't see her. I truly thought I might drown and that something could happen to my daughter. I was panicking, crying, and shaking. By the grace of God, I saw the only boat nearby and flagged them down. They went back and picked up me and my daughter too. I will never forget the people who helped us. I truly believe they prevented a tragedy that day. Another important thing to mention is that this happened toward the evening on a weekday, and there were almost no people left on the river. We were some of the last people out there. I got incredibly lucky that there happened to be a boat nearby because otherwise, I don't know what would have happened to me or my daughter. What upsets me the most is that there was no real safety briefing or warning about the risks. We were given tubes and sent off. No one explained the currents, deep areas, muddy bottoms, or what to do in an emergency. No one recommended life jackets to us, even though not everyone in our group could swim. Please understand that there are no lifeguards. Depending on the time of day, you may find yourself with very few people around to help in an emergency. If I hadn't been able to flag down that boat, this story could have ended very differently. I later learned that other people have had similar frightening experiences here, and I understand why. Please, if you decide to go: * Wear a life jacket, especially if you are not a strong swimmer. * Do not assume the water is shallow because it's a spring. * Do not bring children or adults who cannot swim without extra precautions. * Understand that there are no lifeguards and you are responsible for your own safety. This experience was so traumatic for me that I still have flashbacks and cannot imagine ever returning. A beautiful place can still be dangerous, and I wish I had known that before I went. We had a gorgeous day and since it had rained in the morning there weren't many people and the river was quiet. We saw river otters, turtles, lots of birds, tons of fish, lush greenery and a fat snake sunning itself on a rock wall near one of the residences. The water is so clear and you can see so much underwater. The 2 hour float trip was perfect for us. We enjoyed looking at the houses and scenery. It was a fabulous day off for us to be all together in a beautiful place. Our only criticism was the organization of the rentals itself. It was a little confusing and the man driving the tram was somewhat immature. He was heard muttering that his colleague was micromanaging (she seemed to be doing most everything herself and he kept just wandering around and waiting to be told what to do). He also drove the tram wayyyyy too fast and didn't give clear directions on what to do when we got off the river. He was clear on where to get out but we didn't know we were very close to the tram station and just needed to walk there. We saw a covered bench and several of us thought perhaps we were to wait there for the tram to pick us up. Nope. You just keep walking a short way and you are right back at the rental place and your car. Also picking up the tubes was confusing because the man there said come and get your tube. Several people stepped forward and started taking an inner tube. He stopped them and told them they weren't allowed to be in there. What he meant to say was for them to indicate the tube they wanted. There was no line or anything so there was some mild jostling and confusion for us all. It wasn't a big deal, but it could definitely be improved. All in all we had a terrific time.

I got my phone to call and noticed a VM had been left from the same phone number. Due to spotty service, I could not figure out what was being said in the VM, so I called. The gentleman on the phone was very rude. "I left you a message with this information a few minutes ago," he said. I explained what I typed above and was given the code. When entering the ranger station the gentleman barely looked up. I said nicely that I believe I just spoke to you on the phone and I am here to check-in. He was just as rude during the check-in process. Whatever, people have bad days. We found our site and got everything setup. We had a great site and the park is very beautiful. We could hear kids playing a site or two down and some dogs randomly barking here and there throughout the park. Our dogs responded by barking "HI" back a couple of times before we shushed them and they quieted down The next two days were chilly and nothing particular to note regarding park or staff. We were a tad disappointed in the lack of walking and/or bike trails, but at this point were still happy with the park. Note: we did not see any trails leading to the springs; you had to drive to a separate entrance. Saturday is the day that did it for us. As I stated above, during the day we could almost always hear kids, adults, and especially dogs throughout the park. It was not irritating or bothersome whatsoever, to us any how. It was simply normal background noise during NON QUIET TIME HOURS! Do our dogs "talk" sometimes, yes, but we quiet them quickly. We know all SP park rules require well-behaved dogs and that they are not overly noisy. I had taken our dogs on a few walks over the past couple of days, but had not taken them on the bicycle yet, and set off with one about 11 am or so. She did not make one peep during our ride around the entire park. When I was leaving to take the second dog out, I was stopped at the end of our site by who I believe was a campground host. She was driving an orange gator. Mind you, I had one dog strapped to my chest and the other three were outside, in the caged area attached to our RV, behind our truck, and could clearly hear and see us (my spouse was also standing there with the dogs). They only made a few whiny noises but did not bark once. This woman had a scowl on her face like we were having a raging rave party in the park. She asked if were the site with the overly loud and barking dogs. I was taken back a bit, and considering at this point our dogs had not barked at her once, I responded the same as I typed above. They do bark occasionally, but we get them quieted down very quickly. I was then told that was basically untrue because the night before she had received three complaints. This was simply not true! Not about our dogs anyhow. I told her that the night before we sat around the fire for a bit and the dogs were quiet and that we were inside before 9 pm because it was so cold that night (and my watch indicated I was fast asleep by 9:22 pm). She scoffed back that the complaints came around 8 pm and woke her up as she went to bed early. I just looked at her shocked and reiterated it could not have been our dogs, but that I would tell my husband. She sped off and I turned around to tell my husband. He too was shocked. I postponed the other dog bike rides so the others would not make a peep if I left. We then made sure the dogs stayed 100% quiet, even though we could hear other dogs throughout the park as also stated above. As we sat there and talked about what had happened, we replayed the last few days over and over and were still perplexed at the situation. This was our 14th time camping at FL SPs. We have also stayed at a city park a few times. We have NEVER had any complaints about us or the dogs. We then talked about the quiet time hours and how we were always inside and quiet during this time. Furthermore, our dogs were not being disruptive at any time during our trip. We were also not being loud at any point, as we never are. We respect the rules and quiet time hours. We, nor the dogs, are ever outside past 10 pm (at the latest) and we never let them out in the morning before at least 8 am. This parks quiet hours were post as 11 pm to 7 am from what we could find. I do not know what this particular worker had against us, but it pi$$ed us off. We had been quite happy with our dogs during the trip as they were less "aware" of the other campers as they usually are. Even during walks, they did not bark at a single other person or dog we passed. Up until the interaction, we had been talking about booking again, but will not be back ever again. I would have understood if our dogs had been having a barking fit, but they were not and did not during this trip. Do not go here if you, your kids, or your dog make any type of noise.

Be sure to bring... 1. Reusable drinking containers, no disposables allowed(cans, plastic water bottles). 2. Sealed plasticware, or reusable bags for food and snacks. No ziplocs allowed. 3. Cover for your legs or lots of sunscreen. Its 2.5 - 4 hours down the river. 4. No alcohol. They have a sniffer and check your bottles. Theres's a lemonade stand 2/3rds of the way down in someones backyard. Many people were talking about it. We finished in 2.5 hours, but would probably go a little slower next time. The river is beautiful, not cold, and is very relaxing. Next time we will go upriver to the springs, then down to the end. The last 30 minutes is a little bit of work as you meet the wider section of river and the wind can work against you. There's a restaurant, Swampy's, you can pull over and tie up to eat and drink. Its 30 minutes form there to the pull-out. This was our first kayak trip in FL. This was a very nice day.

We chose the 4-hour kayaking trip and were blown away by the beauty of the river. The water was crystal clear, and we saw so much wildlife along the way - turtles, exotic birds and beautiful natural scenery everywhere we looked. It truly felt like a hidden paradise. Our friends visiting from the UK joined us, and they loved every minute of it as well. It was such a special way to experience Florida together. From the friendly drivers to the quality of the kayaks and the stunning river itself, everything was exceptional. The entire experience was smooth and easy from start to finish. We highly recommend Rainbow River Kayak Adventures and would absolutely do it again

My parents were reminiscing about when they were middle school aged and came here for field trips…read more I was surprised to find out that Silver Springs State Park and the glass bottom boat tours have been around for that long! It was about a 1.5 hour ride from Orlando. Woke up real early on a Saturday (on honestly one of the coldest days of the year) to arrive at the park around 8am. I highly suggest purchasing glass bottom boat tour tickets online about a week in advance atleast since time slots fill up! We purchased the 1.5 hour tour on the boats. Our tour guide was incredible and shared so much knowledge and facts about the wildlife and park. I got to see tons of manatees! Plus getting to see gators, turtles, birds, and even monkeys! The glass bottom gives such a cool perspective on viewing the wildlife and plants underwater. Aside from the tour, we walked several trails to enjoy the great outdoors. Also, we had coffee in the morning when we first got here and lunch after the tour. The food was pretty good and filling. At the gift shop I made sure to leave with a magnet and Christmas ornament to remember such a great day here.

However, once you walk through, you are quickly transported. The entrance to the park is only two dollars per person, and honestly, in my opinion, they could charge just a little bit more. The glass-bottom boat tours run faster than you might expect, so if you have the time (which we didn't during our visit), opt for the longer boat ride; it doesn't cost much more. They also have little shops to explore and plenty of outdoor seating so you can take in the beautiful surroundings. If you're a water lover, make sure to plan ahead and reserve a crystal-clear kayak or paddleboard to enjoy the water--it'll be worth every penny. The only hiccup in our plan was that we booked everything on the day of our visit, so we ended up with a shorter tour on the glass-bottom boats and got locked into the last kayaking time slot. The woman at the reservation desk for the kayaks was not very pleasant. She told us that despite showing a 5 o'clock slot, they were no longer taking reservations. I showed her the option on my phone, but she still refused to let us sign waivers. Luckily, we found the manager in charge of the rental hut, who advised that we could still make our reservation online. I showed him on my phone, and although we'd have to pay full price and probably have less than an hour, that was perfectly fine with us since we were in the last slot. The lake was practically empty, so we had the entire waterway to ourselves--so beautiful and peaceful. Honestly, it felt like we were in another country, surrounded by nature. If you don't have the chance to kayak, there's also a walking path where you can see monkeys left behind from one of the movies that was filmed on location. We walked part of the path, and it was just as beautiful. Any chance my kids and I get to be outside in nature, we gravitate towards it, putting away our phones to enjoy everything around us. What a great way to spend your day and your vacation!

While it was difficult to find a chair / shade we secured a chair in the sand area. The water was freezing but expected. It was also very relaxing. The wildlife is awesome to see. The lazy river does cost extra but it's worth it, I'd love to return because unfortunately due to inclement weather the water attractions were shut down.

Watching the performers was delightful. Even with the air lines under the water it was amazing to watch. Just being able to keep your eyes open underwater was astounding to me. We even got an extra performance for the Memorial Day holiday with a tribute to our service members. After the show they had a mermaid photo op that was donation based. After the show, I explored the rest of the park. It isn't that large but was a nice area and worth the $13 to get in. They have an area for swimming in part of the springs. I didn't bring my swimsuit but there were many people swimming and having a good time. There are some water slides too. They have a great gift shop. Loved having the opportunity to visit and see an iconic spot for mermaid lovers!
