Now that I'm in Randolph, it's only 25 minutes away. This is my new addiction, for sure! Downtown Winthrop is adorable on its own, so it's a joy to visit. The shop is everything! It has something for everyone. Vintage clothes, handcrafted items, local Maine gifts, a candy store, very carefully and thoughtfully curated collection of seasonal surprises around every corner, and there is so much to explore! Be prepared to spend a couple hours in here, easily! Prices were decent, very affordable. Especially considering every item had so much thought and love put into it. Serious! Every display was PERFECTION! It was definitely inspiring, and made me want to plan out an entire re-do on my home decor. Service here is top notch, we met the owners and they are very sweet. We felt welcomed, and so look forward to coming back. This shop is an absolute GEM. I might die of a broken heart of this goes anywhere...

The upstairs is really not organized very well, but the rooms are cool because it used to be an office building and so it's like a maze. Lots of furniture and other large items, very few smaller items. The book room on the second floor is very messy and unorganized. There are books and magazines on the floor, scattered about. They don't appear to be sorted by subject. It's an okay shop to stop in and browse, but it's not somewhere I personally would come back to.

One of my favorite places to visit in all of Maine!!!!!…read more If you are anywhere near Belfast, ME or looking to get off Route 1 and see a bit of the countryside; This is a great place to stop and recharge! The woman who runs the store is Diana and she is amazing. She has the most unique items in her store from all over Maine and beyond. Lots of antiques and neat stuff for almost any room in your house. Make sure to inquire about the letter press she owns. She showed me pictures of the Gutenberg letter press she uses to make the beautiful cards and prints. Her skill is unmatched and eye for detail is unmatched OH... she bakes all kinds of yummy treats. My personal favorite is the ginger cookies..and the bread. She makes the best tasting organic items you'll ever find. If you are having a party she also says she does some catering events. She also has rail bikes for rent! You'll get to pedal bikes that run along the rail road tracks and it's a blast..and a work out. Kip is a great guy who works there and loves to chat and will help ya with the bikes. It is such a great way to see Maine. She said she has a facebook page but She's working on a webpage. I live in Colorado and visiting Maine is wonderful. I love getting off route 1 and seeing the country side in the summer. 25 Gordon Hill Road Thorndike, ME 04986-3227 (207) 568-3523

The woman running this place has wonderful taste, a light hand with the pricing, and a talent for letterpress printing: she makes all kind of clever cards, including page-markers for cookbooks (now why didn't I think of that?) She sells some locally-made food products, but mostly she sells things I would buy if I had an inch of extra room: a heavy, elegant hand-crocheted tablecloth with deep fringe ($18.00), handsome pitchers from local potters (ok, I bought the one with the rabbits) and funny old toys and gadgets. I also passed up a child's quilt embroidered with nursery rhyme characters. if you need it, it's still there. I need something for winter walking, but have had so many pairs that seemed fine in the store, but killed my ankles after 10 minutes into a walk. When I went back to get the box to make my purchase, the shoes I walked in with were sitting there, but the box for the new pair was gone. As I looked for the box, an employee confronted me with the box in her hand. I was like "oh, there's the box, thanks!" But then she demanded I take "her" shoes off. She essentially said I was clearly stealing because I left the box there. Umm, what? Why would I carry the box around with me? I've never done anything differently when buying shoes. Is that so unorthodox? I also had a hat in my hand that I had intended to buy, which was practically ripped from my hands, but I was in so much shock from the whole deal, I just dropped it. So bizarre. We had come to get a bunch of stuff with our Christmas money. Train your employees to better handle this situation. I realize loss prevention is a big deal, but you have lost a long time customer forever. I should mention, I found the exact same pair on the Keen website for 10 dollars less than the price at this store. Another pair I was considering was 20$ less online as well. Definitely do your research online before wasting your money at this store.
