If you're in the early shift, they try to rush you out. Unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Uncle Kurt's is a tiny one room cocktail dive bar in a back alley under a multistorey carpark just across from the old Parramatta Mall not far from the old Roxy. They've gone with a New York theme with heavily graffitied walls, hip hop beats & deli style sandwiches, meats & jaffles. The cocktail list is split into 3 sections of classics, modern & creamy all coming in a shade under $20 a pop created by genuine experienced mixologists. If cocktails aren't your go they also have a mixture of craft beers, a variety of wine & of course straight up spirits. Staff are all friendly, knowledgeable & happy to help.

We ended up at Frank's for lunch and it turned out to be pretty awesome. They had quite a few tables available and we sat immediately. The server took our order promptly. We ordered the following: -kafteh kebab platter -mixed grill platter -quarter pounder charcoal chicken platter All the platters came with a side of hummus and Baba ganosh along with kale salad and burnt tomato and onions. The kafteh kebab was extremely tasty and fresh. They also gave small hot naans fresh out of the oven. Service was pretty good which is usually not the case in most middle eastern restaurants. 5 stars for food and service. Highly recommend trying this place if in the Sydney suburbs.

Overall the food items I tried were standardly delicious as with most middle eastern chicken places, however I do merit them on the complimentary bread they give. It's hot, soft, pillowy & light... The perfect accompaniment to the dips & salads. Fattoush - standard, fresh, crunchy with that lemony sour bite I love about this salad Grilled Chicken Skewer - herby tasty flavour, team it with the fattoush for a healthy meal for 1 Falafel Roll - dry falafel balls squished into Lebanese bread with pickles, radish, tomato, salad & a smudge of garlic sauce. Best part of this was the serving of chips with it. If you're looking to satisfy that chicken & garlic sauce craving Frank's will do the job. It's pretty delicious overall but they lost a star due to inflexibility/arrogance/stubborness (call it what you will), when I requested to exchange the mixed salad that came with the BBQ chicken to a fattoush, also with the offer of paying the difference I was told no. I was happy to pay for it but just didn't want the mixed salad to go to waste but it seemed her favourite word was no. I give up! It's all about the customer experience!

There really isn't much going on in the Western Sydney Japanese scene. Found this place online…read moreafter doing a search for ramen places in Parramatta. I was a bit nervous on the drive there and went in with low expectations. The restaurant is very small and had elements of a typical Japanese restaurant set up. I ordered the katsu chicken ramen an shared the magma roll. The katsu chicken wasn't your normal golden brown coloured exterior but nevertheless tasted really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the ramen after I heaped on some chilli flakes. This isn't readily available on the table so don't forget to ask if you're a fan. The soup was pretty delicious and I almost drank my bowl dry. The magma roll was a bit disappointing though. Not as hot as I expected. Having salmon and canned tuna pieces together probably isn't the best idea either. The tuna definitely out ways the salmon even though it's the salmon you really want to task. Overall a great place for a ramen fix if you are ever in western sydney.

They're many Japanese restaurant contenders in my area but this tiny place remains me of alot of gems we visited in Japan. So if they're busy you might find it hard to get seating, but takeaway option still available. The menu is basic but covers the whole range: sushi, sashimi, ramens, udons, tempuras, bentos, entrees etc. I go here so often (eat in or takeaway) because everytime I order it's like ordering for the first time. the consistency doesn't drop just because you're a regular, which I've had with many other restaurants before. The quality is awesome, especially for such a small restaurant. I've been visiting this place since it first opened and been a loyal fan since. FYI they do open on Sundays now so don't be deterred!

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, the place is packed to capacity; we were kindly greeted and sat down with menus. We both had heard about the "freakshakes" and so 2 freakshakes were on our agenda. The 2 freakshakes came out. The golden gaytime shake and the chocolate volcano. Where to begin; saw the staff walking out and these shakes were massive and filled with toppings. The golden gaytime was a mix between a golden gaytime and an iced coffee; and don't forget the donuts!. The other was a choc shake with a chocolate soufflé on top, so tasty, warm and gooey! Everything you want in a good shake was there. The freakshakes are a MUST. Shorty after we ordered our mains; a lamb and pumpkin salad spread and a delicious Dean! The staff throughout the whole visit were quick, friendly and suggestive. They knew the menu well. Whilst we were still finishing our shakes, the meals came out, the presentation was impeccable. Great spread of food and was excited to dig in. The lamb was very tender and the other flavours on the dishes came out strongly, pumpkin, beetroot and the dressing. The other dish, was tasty, the poached egg was just right and had a great flavour with the basil pesto and the prosciutto. After having two extremely satisfying meals here and great service. Will be here again.

I am such a big fan of fried chicken especially since I had the original in street markets at Taiwan so my anticipation was building. It of course did not disappoint. The juiciness of the beautiful glorious chicken and the crispiness of the batter and skin, ugh, I have shivers going down my spine just thinking about it. They sprinkle on a wonderful spice mix and the 'spicy' one was hot enough to make me reach for water but so tasty. So drop everything you're doing and go taste this amazingness that will enhance your life - no kidding!

This is what Hot Star has nailed - everything that goes into their fryers (so everything on their menu) are fried to order and fried to a timer to make sure it's just on the right side of browned and burn-your-tongue hot. You may have to wait but boy is it worth it. This Eastwood branch of Hot Star seems much much the same as the others around Sydney - same plastic bag you're handed after ordering, same delicious mushrooms and curly fries, same queue on the path out the front. Points off for scoops which look a little too coated with seasoning but maybe they just hadn't cleaned them yet after a long day of trade...maybe. Or is it just extra flavour? Perhaps the key point of difference at this franchise is what looks to be a side business selling anime Lego figurines and what looks like vitamin and mineral supplements. To offset the fried chicken, ya know?
