My experience with Little Apples has been absolutely wonderful. I have recommended this preschool…read moreto many of my friends because of the staff's attention to detail and how both my children expressed their enjoyment of school. I started my daughter at little apples at the age of 3 during the pandemic and my son at the age of 2. At the time little apples took all the precautionary measures to keep the students and their family safe. Miss Sharon has always been extremely responsive to questions and my concerns. I appreciated that I could email or call and ask for a short meeting to discuss any concerns I might have had. For example I was concerned about my son's transition to preschool given he was a "biter" but I was reassured by Ms. Sharon with how the staff would handle these types of situations. My daughter has continued with little apples and has been attending their afterschool enrichment program which includes homework help, learning Mandarin, science, STEM, and art. Fastfoward my daughter is now in 2nd grade and my son is in kindergarten, both attending the afterschool program and loving every moment. The staff go above and beyond and both my children have only positive things to share with me when I ask them about their day. They've made so many friends and I've gotten to know many of the other parents. Would highly recommend Little Apples

We were honored to be hired to renovate the entire playground to make it more toddler-friendly, and it was clear throughout the project how much they genuinely care for the children as if they were their own. Sharon, in particular, thoughtfully shared her concerns multiple times about smoothing out the basketball court to ensure it would be safer and less rough for the kids. Their attention to detail and focus on safety truly stood out. As part of the renovation, we also installed foam padding and turf along the retaining wall to help prevent falls and reduce the risk of head injuries. It was a privilege to work with such caring and dedicated individuals who consistently prioritize the safety and happiness of their students.

The love, safety, attention to detail is unmatched. They are patient and kind, helpful with homework and learning in English (and Mandarin if you want your children to learn!). They challenge the kids in the best way. It has been a pure pleasure to be a part of Blue Sky and we wish them nothing but the best and many more future years of success.

It is onsite at the school, having a dedicated classroom and a dedicated playground. It's very convenient. All staff are bilingual in both English and Mandarin so they can offer Mandarin support on homework for kids in the Mandarin immersion program. They also provide academic support on Math and English. Things like helping students review materials in preparation of a test that the teacher will give. The kids do get play time at the playground. They provide some small snacks if kids are hungry. But we usually bring ours. They offer some extracurricular activities like coding or chess or art or dance with additional fee. What class to offer at the site depends on the number of students who are interested and signed up. But they do let kids trial the first class and see if they are interested to continue. Overall the staff are great and they create a safe environment for kids to learn, play, and socialize. The academic support on Mandarin and other subjects is also a plus to the program even for a native Mandarin speaker like me.

Luckily we found Sora and it's conveniently a Saturday school from 9-12. It is co-op so you are expected to participate and volunteer for duties such as yard, bingo, cleanup, etc...the board of directors is made of parent volunteers that constantly change, if there aren't enough volunteers for positions they'll do a random draw for different positions. There are fun events year round such as Undokai, Mochitsuki, Summer Bazaar, and a Holiday Party. The school is pretty small so it feels very community and you'll see a lot of the same parents, staff, and students throughout the year. Homework is very light but they do get the full 3 hours every week. The school is open to non-Japanese speakers and the student body is quite diverse.

My son has been attending this Saturday school since kindergarten. The teachers he has had have been positive and encouraging educators and not only taught him how to read and write the Japanese alphabet but also engage in several activities that are common in Japan (origami, word games, songs). The school also celebrates Japanese traditions such as Undokai and Mochitsuki which my son always looks forward to. The school serves students kindergarten through 12th grade and even offers high school language credit for students in Fremont Unified School District.

My high schooler has since graduated from Tricity Chinese school and tested into Chinese 2 at James Logan high as a freshman. We basically switched because my kids could not keep up with the workload and demands of Yellow river. My husband does not speak mandarin and the environment at Tricity is more accommodating for mixed language families. The transition from simplified to traditional has been easier than I expected and pretty much a non issue for both kids. They went from dreading weekend chinese school and doing homework in tears at Yellow river, to being able to actually enjoy the language and do homework on their own with minimal help from me at Tricity. I would say that in itself speaks volumes. The school offer 2 streams, one is the traditional stream which starts with zhuyin in kindergarten and introduces pinyin by 4th grade. The other stream is the CFL (Chinese as a foreign language) which uses some English in the teaching. They also have electives after school and my son is taking the go chess class.

Seems to be very male dominated and not a good environment for children. my daughters friends go here and they feel as if this private school is off putting and some teachers have no experience in teaching. play ground is really small, no room for kids to play and cafeteria even smaller. Great experience with smaller staff but head of school needs to change. very rude. they take all your money for no good outcome in your childs learning. cheap, rude and expensive they really get the parents with an experience they can't uphold. put your kids in a better school with better teachers, staff and curriculum and to the head of school 'wagner' do better.

If you're looking for academics, this is the place to be. The school offers Pre-Calculus in eighth…read moregrade for the people who are more skilled in math than other students. It also offers Economics which is a college level course in eighth grade the school is going to open a high school next year, but if you are interested in sending your kid here next year, read this review before you think about anything. First of all, this year, we had a temporary campus for a new campus that was still in construction. The quality was terrible. We could hear the construction from inside and when we were outside we were exposed to the dust that came from the construction it was a nightmare we also had to eat our lunch outside in the sun although they had picnic tables in PE was outside in the grass they gave many people many allergic reactions. And the grass had potholes. Many, many potholes. They have divided the MPR into five classrooms and it was really noisy. It was hard for any students there to focus at all. We were all desperately waiting for the new campus. Oh, and if you think that's bad enough, that was only this year. Last year, three teachers left the school midway two of them fired. And when they had to fire the first teacher they blamed it on the students at the school, even though they specified that they did not want the teacher fired, but they just wanted her to change her teaching habits in a way that would suit all of the students at the school. I mean, are the students not allowed to voice their concerns about the school and make it a better environment for the new students? And they're paying money to go to the school. Which brings me to my next point, the tuition. The year that the school opened, the tuition was twenty four thousand dollars. The tuition kept on increasing over the years, from twenty four thousand dollars to twenty five thousand dollars to twenty six thousand dollars and now twenty seven thousand dollars. The tuition has just been skyrocketing since the school opened. But there are upsides. And when I say upsides, I mean a lot of upsides. First of all, there are only 150 kids at the upper school. That gives teachers a lot more time to communicate with the students at the school and help them with any concepts that they do not understand. Teachers also have office hours after school to help students with any questions they may have. The teachers want the students to learn, and that's what makes this environment important. Everyone works together like one big happy family. The friendships that students make here are everlasting. If you make a friend one year, that friend will never leave your side and will always have your back. The students have such great memories of their past years, and they reminisce one their past experiences at the school. Overall, I would recommend the school for people who are committed to academics and don't care much about extracurricular activities. As BASIS grows there are more and more extracurricular activities that are emerging such as cross country basketball, volleyball, soccer, and flag football, as well as clubs that are offered by the school. Thanks for reading! Edit: After four amazing years, I have decided to transfer to another high school.
