The fried chicken was fine (the menu warns that fried chicken takes 14 minutes {an oddly specific number} to prepare, not an hour). The mashed potatoes were pasty and bland, served without gravy. Not even salt and butter could make them worth shoveling into my mouth. The rice pilaf was okay, pretty similar to Uncle Ben's instant. The baked potato was too hard to eat. The fries were so-so. The cobb salad wasn't worth ordering again. I wouldn't go back for that food, even on a slow day when we can eat in the dining room or on the patio and the kitchen is faster. And I think we will remember why, for many more years. But hey: if you want to go drink beer and watch minor league baseball and indoor field hockey and go home with a headache, the Lakehouse is your spot!

Indiana Beach sold a handful of years ago from the original family founders to an out-of-state corporate entity. Since then, there have been ongoing complaints and rumors each summer tourist season would be Indiana Beach's last. Many locals have tried reaching out and helping Morgan RV Parks, the current New York State-based owners of Indiana Beach, but they've reportedly received little to no response. Yet, as of last tourist season, the Skyroom was still turning out some delicious food albeit struggling to maintain decent service. Fortunately for guests (and poorly trained staff), the Skyroom has not been as popular as it used to be, so kitchen and front-of-house staff have been somewhat able to make do. If you have good memories of the Skyroom, I might suggest visiting this summer (2014), because it may be your last chance to enjoy a nice dinner in their comfortable, air-conditioned dining room overlooking Lake Shafer and the colorfully lighted Indiana Beach boardwalk.

Despite the environment being as expected--fun and engaging--I was asked to leave along with my guests because a bartender coming on shift couldn't get along with the patrons. This was really disappointing, especially when you're someone who supports the establishment regularly. It's not the treatment you'd expect when you're hosting out-of-town friends and trying to show them a good time. Unfortunately, this situation has left me rethinking my loyalty to this place.
