I visited my doctor in early December when I became so uncomfortable because of the pain. I could not push open a heavy door or lift anything even just somewhat heavy. I couldn't reach behind me and the pain woke me as I slept. My doctor recommended PT and I met with a therapist in January, where I was given several exercises and directions to attempt to ease my pain. I found some relief but not enough. I was still taking Tylenol and Aleve in an effort to function and to sleep. In May, a gentleman where I volunteered told me acupuncture helped him greatly. I also wanted to avoid the Pain meds that were ready for pick-up at Walgreens. I saw Michael for pain in my elbow, left small toe on left foot, and lower mid-back pain. I also mentioned that I often have chronic sinus problems. After the first couple treatments I experienced 90% relief for both my lower back and elbow. The toe problem took at least 7 treatments to get it back to 100% pain free. I felt the hardest for things to heal was the toe. In addition to the acupuncture, he used a special herbal solution which involved massaging it into the painful areas surrounding the toe. Glad to say all of the treatments occurred within a 3 week time frame and which relieved me of the 4 months of pain that I tried to ignore and thought would go away on its own. I was informed by him originally that it would take a few months for the elbow and maybe a few weeks only for the back and toe to heal but that was based on coming monthly. First Dr. Kurt gave me acupuncture a couple times. Then he recommended dry needling. Dr. Kurt fully informed me of what to expect with the dry needling (I'd feel the needle but would not be painful, the needle would cause the muscle to spasm and then relax). After going a few months, once per week for dry needling my issue significantly decreased. Not only is Dr. Kurt very professional and knowledgeable, but he also treated me with extreme respect. He knew I was nervous, and he spent whatever time was needed to answer my many questions. Also, Dr. Kurt was different than the neurologist and orthopedic doctors I've seen. Dr. Kurt actually wanted to help me get to the root cause of my issue. He asked me questions that no other doctor asked, such as how my stress level and stress triggers are.
