A man came in with a burst appendix after I did, and they told him to have a seat in the waiting room like me (he was still there alive when I left) another women came in, and said she had Meningitis, what? She wasn't even wearing a mask, so they gave her one and told her to sit in the waiting room just like me. After 6 hours of waiting I got the hell out of there. They better not send me a bill!! Typical Oregon, they should shut that place down!

Five visits to this place and I'll not set foot in it again. OHSU Internal Medicine department is,…read moresimply put, the worst medical department I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Basically it is paternalistic medicine circa 1969 at its very worst. Patients are there to serve the doctor's practice and research interests and not to be served by medical professionals or cared for as patients. Their attitude from front desk to discharge is one of extreme annoyance that a sick person has showed up to interfere with their day, whatever that is. Special note for Doctors Mary O'hearn and Joseph Hardman, two of the most incredibly poor physicians I've ever experienced. They do not listen to the patient, give our orders with no explanations, and expect you to follow them as if you're the new Private in their army and they are the blustering Lieutenants who are not to be questioned under any circumstances. O'hearn actually yells at sick patient for asking questions about what she expects them to do without question. Her bedside manner can only be compared to someone in the military that tortures people for a living. The place is a throwback to old-style, destructive doctor-is-god and not to be questioned medicine. Their hubris, lack of compassion, and blistering arrogance should deny them a license to practice medicine. But if you like taking orders and don't ask questions (even when the treatments are very questionable and not backed by evidence-based medicine) then it might be the place for you. But if you care about your health and want kind doctor that will listen to you instead of telling you what to do then this near-medieval group of backwards, arrogant people might be for you. Pluses: Reasonably comfortable facility, clean exam rooms, support staff trying to do their jobs despite the doctors. (High turnover among staff.) Minuses: In addition to the above, abysmal parking situation, elevators constantly out of order and under-capacity for the facility, most staff and doctors not able to deal with the electronic records system & spend much time hunting and pecking on the keyboards instead of addressing the patient, not reviewing patient records before making changes to care, and a near complete lack of basic human empathy for sick people.

I liked the surgeon a great deal but problems appeared post surgery and were handled very poorly. - The initial surgery date was bumped by the clinic. - Post surgery, I left a message with their answering service about a very large pustule on my nose and skin break-out, concerned it was an infection. No response. - I called back, left a message through the front desk. No response. - We finally set an office appointment, which they rescheduled to a later date. (So much later, it was almost cleared.) Reason was undetermined, possibly an infected suture(?). - After a long wait/healing period, I returned for a postop visit. My surgery had failed; my right nostril had collapsed, a bump remained from the pustule, my nostrils were asymmetrical and my occlusion was actually worse. From function to poor aesthetics as an aftermath, what a disappointment. - Unfortunately, I paid my invoice promptly in full. - Since the problems ranged from every aspect of the clinic (from admin to surgery), I spoke with the office manager. While very apologetic for the overall experience, she promised to look into my billing and call me back. I never heard back, even after 2 follow-up messages, still no response, so I chose to write a review. - I've had to seek out 2nd opinions and solutions, at my expense. Because of PDX ENT, I'm now looking at corrective surgery, additional cost, pain and my face looking worse than when I began. - There are no guarantees with any surgery, understood. I've been patient and professional through this debacle but, I have to say, I can't recall a more unprofessional experience from start to finish.

He pulled something from my nostril. I asked what it was. He told me it was my bone. The next day I wrote Dr. Kim. He told me it was a splint that was supposed to dissolve. I was told by the front desk that the appointment would take about an hour. My mom was transported from her nursing home for this appointment. She got there early and was taken in to see the doctor even before the check in time, which was good. Dr Kim had good bedside manners and cleaned my mom's ear wax with relative ease. But the office manager and the receptionist's bedside manners were deplorable. They were rude and condescending, telling us that the audiologist was not available. Till the audiologist herself stepped in and offered to check my mom's hearing aids, one of which was acquired here. She replaced the plastic tube on the aids and put in fresh batteries. The rudeness of the staff to the office Manager eye rolls and condescending attitude is not acceptable. We had followed a previous audiologist to this practice and had been coming here for a long time. The office manager physically touched me as she pushed me away from the front desk, saying I should follow the above said audiologist to her new office at Kaiser!! Needless we will not be coming to this practice again. Incidentally, also saw the receptionist being rude to another person, who was accompanying a patient. Even the doctor had to remind the office manager to ease off, as she rushed the poor doctor. Most unprofessional and exceptionally rude office staff!
