My boyfriend took me here for my birthday! We ordered a lot of food and a bottle of wine. Our favorite dishes were the chicken tikka masala and saag dish. We ordered a prawn curry dish which we could've passed on next time since it would've been perfect with two dishes, rice and garlic naan. Insult-sutra is a more apt moniker for this place. The owner takes pride in his sublime ability to ridicule his customers by detailing how expensive it is to wash the napkins and cutlery - so he'll replace them with paper and plastic equivalent. All because...we didn't want to order one dish per person! We went there very tired in search for some good Indian food. And since my wife and I are both light dinner eaters we initially wanted to only order a single dish. We were informed that usually people order 1 per person. We didn't know I that was customary but we'd rather eat less than throw excess. We said we'd order more if we felt like. The owner who seems to have a rather abysmal professional courtesy grew irate at our request and literally snatches the napkins and cutlery explaining that our ordering a single dish is expensive for him and the costs of washing them will outweigh the cost of food. I know my economics well and this was quite outrageous and rude and ridiculous ;) Even if it's customary to order a dish per person in Switzerland I'd expect a more professional way of politely educating us on the same. We'd have gladly obliged and ordered more. But then if your first bite is crap it's difficult to swallow anything thereafter. It was better to get up and leave. We politely thanked him for his hospitality which met with a cocky sneer! I guess a board should be displayed "Will feed people respectfully only if they order a dish each." My suggestion, go here to experiment what we did or be prepared to scoff out more money 'cause you should eat how much he thinks you ought to and recoup the washing expenses and not how much you want too :) My advice, carry your own cutlery and napkins, just in case ;) read more

Come here for the food, it's some of the best (and most authentic) Indian food to be had in Zürich, although it is on the pricier side (even for Zürich). The service is not the best, servers are sometimes unfriendly and gruff, however the ambience is spot-on, and not overbearingly kitschy. Try the Peshawari naan, it is excellent! read more

I visited Kormasutra for the first time last week and was pleasantly surprised. It's an English style Indian restaurant if that makes any sense serving dishes like Tikka Masala. If you're English you'll get me if not I can't explain. Generally good food, portions not the biggest although it was enough for us with Naan and rice. The owner did seem quite full of himself but we ordered lots of food so no problems there I don't suppose. Don't read anything untoward into the name nothing erotic apart from the strip joint next door. Make sure you turn the right way when leaving the toilets or you will end up there. read more

This place deserves negative stars if such an option were possible. The primary reason is service: it is completely lacking with waiters who are plainly rude and racist. That they have different standards for Indians and dark skinned people and whites was evident from two visits Since I stayed at the Hotel Alexander around the corner and got to observe their behavior to Whites on more than one occasion as I walked by besides the two visits inside. As for the food I would grudgingly give it a C but more readily a D if not an F. Bottom line stay clear of this place. There are far better Indian options in Zurich (Tamarind Hill, Haus Hiltl (not really Indian but lots of Indian choices), Restaurant Malabar etc. read more

Am Kormasuta fahre ich fast täglich vorbei und frage mich, wie das Essen wohl sei. Endlich haben meine Freundin und ich den Entschluss gefasst, dem Lokal eine Chance zu geben. Freundliche Bedienung, angenehmes, nicht überladenes Dekor. Zur Vorspeise empfiehlt sich wieder die Combo, wobei die 'Onion Bhaji' am besten sind. Das Lamm Bhuna als Hauptspeise böckelt überhaupt nicht, scharf genug und sehr aromatisch. Paneer Masala ist sehr mild, feine Gewürzabstimmung. we were afraid of the service after reading all the comments on yelp. But, we had good service.But, none of the food we ordered was great - all of it had tons of spices but none of the spices seemed like they were cooked well enough to tamper them, as most well cooked indian dishes are. This was just overwhelming amount of spices that didn't get a chance to simmer well, or non of the flavors were married well. I don't think we will go back to this place again. read more

Our family of four (2 young kids) just got back from dinner at this place. In short, having dined at so many international Indian restaurants, I must say this ranks bottom most of all. First, we were offered seating right in th face of door entrance. When asked for other seating choices, the waiter insisted that we can only get those seats. Never heard of this. Another person came from inside, continued arguing more and gave us a seat in some corner. He was still better than the other waiter. When it came to ordering food, we were not that hungry and thought of ordering light. The waiter was really rude and said we need to order minimum of 2 main dishes and 4 naans. I have never heard about imposing minimum order like that. Our food came after about 1.5 hours. Note this was evening time and we were the third table occupied. So, the restaurant was mostly empty at the time. If your kids are hungry, might want to avoid this place as it takes a long time to get your food. We had kids so they needed to drink water from their own bottles. The waiter insisted that we are not allowed to drink from our own bottles and need to buy water from them. They only have 1 high chair in the hotel, so please be aware in case you have toddlers or young kids that need the high chair. Very expensive food, average price of any veg dish is around 27 Swiss francs. Lastly, he didn't even bother giving me receipt for the amount. Absolutely the worst experience. Me and my husband enjoyed the food in this restaurant. We had lunch buffet and we felt it was over priced but we talk to the owner and he explained to us how job security is in this country and he gave examples of his employee that how much he gets paid. Basically everything is expensive in Zurich. Overall we had good experience and we really liked the food so money was worth spending. Owner as well as person who was working they were very friendly to us. It was very clean restaurant. read more
