I strongly recommend the samosas and naan, and the mango dessert.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday! We ordered a lot of food and a bottle of wine. Our…read morefavorite dishes were the chicken tikka masala and saag dish. We ordered a prawn curry dish which we could've passed on next time since it would've been perfect with two dishes, rice and garlic naan. I have to admit this was the most expensive Indian food I've had - then again it's Zurich! But it was also one of the best I've eaten. We'll definitely come again when we have a chance!

Insult-sutra is a more apt moniker for this place. The owner takes pride in his sublime ability to…read moreridicule his customers by detailing how expensive it is to wash the napkins and cutlery - so he'll replace them with paper and plastic equivalent. All because...we didn't want to order one dish per person! We went there very tired in search for some good Indian food. And since my wife and I are both light dinner eaters we initially wanted to only order a single dish. We were informed that usually people order 1 per person. We didn't know I that was customary but we'd rather eat less than throw excess. We said we'd order more if we felt like. The owner who seems to have a rather abysmal professional courtesy grew irate at our request and literally snatches the napkins and cutlery explaining that our ordering a single dish is expensive for him and the costs of washing them will outweigh the cost of food. I know my economics well and this was quite outrageous and rude and ridiculous ;) Even if it's customary to order a dish per person in Switzerland I'd expect a more professional way of politely educating us on the same. We'd have gladly obliged and ordered more. But then if your first bite is crap it's difficult to swallow anything thereafter. It was better to get up and leave. We politely thanked him for his hospitality which met with a cocky sneer! I guess a board should be displayed "Will feed people respectfully only if they order a dish each." My suggestion, go here to experiment what we did or be prepared to scoff out more money 'cause you should eat how much he thinks you ought to and recoup the washing expenses and not how much you want too :) My advice, carry your own cutlery and napkins, just in case ;)

What are the odds of meeting someone from the big island of Hawaii in Zurich, Switzerland?…read more This hole in the wall restaurant is in the heart of old town Zurich, and serves take out food. There are high stools and tiny plastic tables crammed inside for those wanting to eat on the premises. Food is prepared beforehand on big vats cafeteria style. We ordered the CHF 12.50 vegetable curry and the CHF 14.50 butter chicken. All dishes are served on regular dishware with metal utensils and come with rice. The vegetable curry comes with cauliflower, green beans, and carrots, on a bed of rice. Not at all spicy, average portion size, and inexpensive for Zurich, the most expensive city in Europe. The good size portion of butter chicken is on the spicy side, so much so that I get a paper cup of water -the first and only time I was not charged for water in a restaurant in Switzerland. Heard from the owner that they were sold out of the CHF 14.50 fish curry. If I wanted more I would have ordered the CHF 16.50 lamb vindaloo. Wearing my big Island of Hawaii T-shirt, complete with a full size map of the island on my back. Lady next to me exclaimed to her boy friend "Hey that's your island!" The guy showed me his driver license, and by darn it was of Kaneohe. Not on the big Island but of Oahu. He had moved to Waikoloa on the big Island. They had come to Switzerland through Asia, with a delay in their plane flight back to the US and then to Hawaii. And added Jennifer R of Honolulu as a Yelp friend on the spot. 8000 miles from Hawaii, and meet here in Zurich!
