Good price Friendly…read more Home cooked style Kottu rotti only available after 3pm. I just came for those but I couldn't order it for lunch. I ordered the chicken menu instead and she just kept filling the bowl with rice and veggies and daal. Loved it! Because to me Indian food is about different flavors. But when you go to a fancy Indian place you pay for chicken, saag spinach, cabbage, pumpkin curry, lentil daal, and sometimes even rice all separate and you end up with a huge bill. Here I got everything for 12 bucks in one serving to go. That made me happy. Pumpkin curry was delicious, so was everything else. No seating, to go only. But there is a park close by at Helvetiaplatz. Or even closer Zeughaus.

Excellent food, great service, and fantastic value!…read more I'm extremely cheap, so eating out is often painful and disappointing. India Street Food was one of the best food experiences I had while traveling through most of western Europe. I stayed near this restaurant and came across it by chance, hungry and without the right currency. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave me a large portion, which was great since my family and I had been traveling for most of the day. The owner even threw in a free pakora type thing for free seeing that I had a toddler with me. The food was delicious. All three dishes that we tried were tasty, although I liked the vegetarian dishes best, even though I love my meats. I would go back in a heartbeat and if I'm ever in Zurich, I will make deliberate effort to get to India Street Food.

4.5 stars. Recommended…read more Very friendly place with an extensive menu for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. My husband got a curry chicken, and instead of assuming he wouldn't like spicy food (which is unfortunately common in Europe, where a three-pepper rating barely registers as spicy in your mouth), the man who took our order took care to clarify what level of spice we wanted. The portions were quite generous and affordable, especially for Zurich, and while we waited for the takeaway order, we were given free water (probably tap, but still!) and offered a seat. If you're American, you're thinking, "Free water. So what?" Trust me, it was a nice -- and unexpected -- thing to do here. Wait time was very reasonable. The shop window fronts a busy street, so it's good for people-watching but not an intimate dinner. The veggie samosas were HUGE and very tasty. Actually, be aware of the size of the samosas if you order them as an appetizer. Although there are only two, they'll reduce your appetite a lot. My palak paneer was very good, not the best I've had, but IMO it's hard to mess up PP unless the cheese doesn't set up. (A personal experience, but Indian chefs have much better luck!). Good value, good service, good food.
