He's a good pdoc, Keeps up with new treatments and modalities…read more But he is RETIRED. He's not there anymore.

Dr. Melieste is rather uncaring and not helpful. Expect to spend less than 5 minutes with him and…read morehe won't even ask about your history or how you're feeling, he will just write a script. I told him I was severely suicidal and he said that "sometimes that happens before women get their periods". I have a 13 year history of suicidal thoughts and depression - not related to my hormones. Pretty insulting, coming from a doctor who doesn't care to know anything about my history or mental illness. He just comes across as very uncaring and it's a waste of money to see him unless you are just looking for a script and nothing else. God forbid you need help during a time of crisis (as I did) and I wasn't even allowed to speak to the doctor on the phone. They didn't care that I'm unable to drive - I was told they couldn't do anything for me over the phone. This is after I've been a patient for over 7 months and I've seen Dr. Melieste in person at least 5 times. The office staff is ok. The receptionists can be very rude when you call in. They don't let you finish your sentences before cutting you off. Cosmetically, the place is a dump. The waiting room is shabby and the building needs repairs. Not a place to feel good about getting mental help. I'm fed up and looking elsewhere - what good is it to have a doctor that won't even speak to you during a time of crisis? Definitely would not recommend anyone going here.

Urgent update. If you are an existing patient who has worked with GBH Snellville for 3 years or…read moremore, PLEASE be aware that no one in this office has access to your records prior to 2018 - i.e., if you have an existing diagnosis (DX) and prescriptions (RX) with the GBH Snellville doctors and staff, NONE of this history, psychiatric or medical, is available to any practitioner within the practice. Records prior to 2018 are in storage and inaccessible. My example - I had been seeing a good psychiatrist with a voluminous knowledge of medications, very sympathetic, who retired in February. I saw him for 11 or 12 years. COVID hit and I was assigned an NP who I have been "working" with via Telemed. She has been completely not understanding regarding my ongoing treatment. Today I found out that she was completely unaware of my DX and medication history prior to 2018 - to the extent that she wasn't even aware what my DX meant. She was prescribing and changing my RX over the months without knowing anything about my history as a patient. 10 years of medical history ignored and determined to be not important by the NP. 10 years of treatment down the drain In the psychiatric world DX = RX - your diagnosis determines the medications you are gonna get. A wrong diagnosis will get you the wrong meds and the wrong meds can really mess you up, sometimes disastrously. Antidepressants of all sorts, for example. Bad psychiatric care is worse than bad street drugs. This clinic's treatment is suspect at best and medically negligent at worst. GET YOUR COMPLETE RECORDS FROM THIS CLINIC ASAP. It will cost you, but it's better than the alternatives - like ending up in an emergency room with irreversible medical damage due to improper RX side effects. Or an involuntary commitment to one of Georgia's fine, caring mental wards.

I have had more issues with this office than I can count. Sometimes you get reminder calls,…read moresometimes you don't. They RARELY run on time. The people who work here have ZERO people skills. I just was forbidden from scheduling my husband an appointment (even though I always have) because they don't have the proper release signed by him...yet they were able to tell me (without me prompting) what his previous doctors name was and which location he would go to. Just go elsewhere. This place is just ridiculous.

My family has been seeing Psychiatrist Dr. Shripal Makim since 2017. One of my children was…read moreseriously over medicated by our well meaning Pediatrician. Dr. Makim changed and eliminated meds, and within that 1 year, my son grew close to a foot taller and had his amazing personality back. With me, in Jan. 2021, I got Long-COVID and my mental health completely bottomed out for about a year. At that time, Dr. Makim insisted on FaceTime visits ONLY! (This was when the world was shut down due to Covid 19.) He insisted on being able to SEE me and made his diagnostic advices and treatments based on not just my voice and words, but also on how I appeared. I feel like he saved my life. I KNOW that he saved my life!! Outside of the doctors care is the business side. Some of their policies are a little strange, and sometimes the staff seems off, but they are always friendly, efficient, and none of us has ever waited more then 10 minutes - if we wait at all.

If you're black, DO NOT SEE MAHENDRA SHAH, MD. He is racist and lacks empathy for black people. I…read morethought because he was a poc he would be more empathetic. I was VERY WRONG. He did not try to make a emotional connection when I was struggling with the loss of my dad and moving to another state. He was very stoic and would pass judgement on me using cannabis at the time to help get through it. Instead of listening to my formal previous diagnosis of PTSD and binge eating disorder, his inability to connect or care about a black person left me with only the diagnosis of Bipolar (I have stable moods, I was literally experiencing mania due to being on a high amount of a antidepressant and I was in a state of panic due to being alone in a new state- something he chose to not acknowledge). Not only that but the only other diagnosis was Obesity. He did not help me, only was in it for the money. He would grunt when being asked to do calls instead of seeing him in person because of how uncomfortable he made me due to being insensitive and because I worked multiple jobs to *survive. He would rush me off the phone and in appointments and didn't care to empathize my lack of financial literacy and why I was having trouble with my life insurance. He offered no solutions, only made me see him every month then every 3 months for my medicine. He was not kind, did not try his best to help me, offer solutions or be empathetic and make me feel comfortable and seen. I regret wasting my money and time seeing him and wish I had chosen someone who cared more about helping me and diagnosing in a way to create a treatment plan instead of just for money and to meet a quota.
