Was there the day it opened (1970s). I grew up just around the corner on Regent Street. I worked at Elmcrest (1974-1976) and everynight as I walked home from work I stopped by for a chocolate shake. Three of my siblings worked there as well as an old girlfriend. Even knew the owner/creator Stewart Salter. After moving to Oklahoma and when visiting my parents on Regent St., I always made a point of stopping by - ensuring both my kids had the opportunityy to experience the Kool-Moo experience. Kool Moo is a lot like Dairy Queen, only with more variety, better tasting products, larger servings all made with real ice cream. They do not have the "hot eats," that DQ has, but if you are in the mood for ice cream treats and you are on the fence on choosing between DQ and Kool Moo, choose the latter. read more

I'm all for family-run small businesses and try to support them whenever I can but Kool Moo needs to either figure out how to hire part time staff to run theirs or maybe they shouldn't own a small business that deals in a service industry. They change their regular hours almost weekly and many weekends they are closed at the last minute for family events. Again, I totally support people wanting to spend time with family (we all do) but then owning a small business may not be the best choice. Honestly, looking at the jam-packed business that Tastee-Freez down the road has from spring until fall, I'm really surprised Kool-Moo is able to break even. read more

My friend and I went to kool moo at around 8:45 at night when they close at 9:30pm and there were lots of people still there so we felt like it would be okay to come that late. Once I got to the window the lady rudely greeted us. I kindly asked if I was able to try a sample of their pineapple dole whip. She stood there for a second debating an answer and rudely said sure while rolling her eyes. She brought me back a baby cone with the dole whip in it which clearly showed me that they do willingly offer samples. We then sat down and watched as a lady's ice cream cone got called. Her cone didn't have the crunch she asked for on top so she kindly explained how it was supposed to have crunch. The girl borderline slammed the window shut as she asked the manager what to do which ended up being her mom. When she came back she exclaimed how her mom said that she "never asked for the crunch on top." I feel as though she should have just said sorry and moved on. I then ran into one of my other friends so i asked her if they were rude to her also and she told me yes and that she was rude about her using apple pay for a purchase less than $5. I regret tipping them anything and am appalled by how they treated their customers this night. read more

Ice cream is amazing and their milkshakes are godly! Their flavor burst ice cream is also really good, with multiple options for flavor, and the ability to mix flavors is even better, like getting mango and lemon, which make a mango lemonade! Overall, Kool Moo is one of the best places to get ice cream! (Maybe even better than dairy Queen wink wink) read more

Yum-o! I usually go to Parlor City because it is on my "route", but my distaste for Chocolate Yogurt (PC's yogurt flavor of the day) prompted by my NEED for frozen yogurt led me up the road to Kool Moo. Not only did they have the "flavor of the day" (yellow cake batter OMG!), but they had numerous flavors of frozen pints to take home. Root Beer and Blackberry won me over that day but Raspberry and Boysenberry were calling my name as well (next time!). I would definitely come back here again. Haven't been here in several years and it's all clear to me why. The ice cream is not all that great and the "oreos" are some generic version that taste inferior. Price is comparable to all the other ice cream parlors in town. At the time of my visit, it was actually quite busy, why I'm not totally sure, perhaps they just don't have my discerning taste or as in my case tonight, it was just convenient. In any case, next time I think I'll stick to Parlor City or DQ. read more

We used to live in the neighborhood and walk over. Even though we moved year ago this place is still our favorite. Lots of malt and shake flavors and a variety of frozen yogurts you can take home in pints. Compared to Coldstone, DQ, and Orange Leaf this place is very reasonable. Cute little ice cream place.Hubby has been coming here since he was a kid. The soft serve twist is awesome! If you come at the end of the season they have great deals on their inventory. Lots of great seating outside and the owner is a really nice lady. My only criticism is that they could use some new signs in the window. Some are pretty faded and in rough shape but overall it is a cute place! read more

Great icecream, but they should clean their machine bc I got butter pecan, but the bottom of my cup at birthday cake at the bottom. I happened to like it, but if there are customers out there who don't want the same flavor as the previous customer in their icecream, you may want to clean it between flavors. Also I wish the bug zapper was not right near the window and maybe slightly to the corner around bc I thought the zapped bugs would fall into the icecream. Those were the only things that bothered me and I could see going wrong in customer transactions, other than that, quality was great and ice cream itself was delicious!!! read more
