I have been to this place a few times only as my last resort only to do a pedicure. The last time I did a pedicure, I was not please so I said I will continue to go where I'm use to going. This time I get a manicure because it was a last resort by the same person Winnie and the nails were $60 for a job that a kid could have done. Over priced for this horrible job. I didn't even want to pay but I didn't need the problem. I have short nails already and always were them short. The pictures are detailed with this horrible work. One word (or name, rather): JUDY. Judy is my holy grail. You know my loyalty runs deep when I tell you one of the top 3 things most stressful to me about my recent move was having to find a new nail tech (or maybe that means my priorities are all messed up, take your pick). I have no idea why it took me so long to write the only Yelp review I've ever written that matters but, it's TIME. Kool Blue is MY nail spot. Kool Blue overall has good nail techs: thorough, efficient, affordable, hygienic. But Judy is my 1 and only nail lady. She's patient, proactive (fixes something on my nails without me even looking at them), checks in with you, works diligently, and is just the freaking best. She gets my nail shape RIGHT and is very meticulous about not getting paint on your cuticle (she insists since it'll make your polish lift). My gel would stay on for a month if I let it grow that long. She takes off your polish without too much force but does it quick! doesn't leave the acetone on for too long. She can do some simple designs and is generally willing to learn new ones (I've done gold flakes, thin thin French nail type lines, a little heart, sparkles). Only thing to mention: Judy primarily speaks Cantonese. My Cantonese is more Canto-English, but we managed! She can definitely work with English only speakers and there will be other nail techs nearby that do speak English to help if needed. But seriously, it's worth it, Judy is MY GIRL. Again. I moved to JERSEY and she's one of the things I miss most about Brooklyn. Like, that tells you a lot. read more

Winnie is a life saver! I had a pretty bad recent run with my nails - they've gotten long and have cracked (both thumbs, pinky on my left hand and middle finger on my right). I went to an expensive salon that did a horrible job with the silk wraps about a week ago and my cracks were breaking through. One silk wrap straight up ripped off 3 days later (I had to get that repaired at my go to salon in LA) and finally my pinky finger polish chipped last night. Kool Blue replaced a salon I used to get my nails done throughout HS and whenever I was back from college, and I've been wanting to try them out since then. I finally got that chance today when I needed my nails fixed ASAP. Winnie was finishing up with another customer and was able to take me. She talked me out of a full set of acrylics once she saw my nails. They're naturally longer and acrylics would do more harm than help. They don't do silk wraps here but she recommended the dip powder to repair my cracked nails, with gel on the rest. Works for me! She paid such close attention to detail when she was filing my nails and was gentle when she handled my cuticles. She did a good job applying the polish too. I've never seen these before but they put Voesh Collagen gloves on you when you get your nails done. I think they provide extra hydration/moisturizer for your hands. It was a nice touch. I picked a color from the sets that were given to me to look through. The nail technician cut my cuticles so deep that a couple fingers started bleeding. When she painted the color gel onto my nails, she didn't alert me that the color would not look like what I had picked out nor did she bother to check if I was okay with the color before proceeding to paint all of my nails. When I saw that she was about to put the top coat on, I stopped her and asked why the color looks so different. She kept insisting that it's the same color but it clearly looked different when she brought the sample back over for comparison. She kept asking what do I want and I kept repeating the same thing of what I wanted. I got really annoyed when her and another lady kept saying in Chinese the issue was that I didn't know what I wanted. I replied back in Chinese so that they knew I understood what they were saying. Eventually, someone else redid my nails. I got a color that looked a lot better and closer to what I had initially picked. read more

Pro: -no wait -nice massage/foot massage and hot gel on heels -they put disposable bags in pedicure tub -paid close attention to cutting all my cuticles Con: my gel nails while they are very pretty are sooo thin that my pinky nail broke right across the center and this happened by just taking clothes out of the dryer. Besides being in pain I can't even put polish over my broken nail as the nail is almost all gone. From my understanding gel nails de supposed to be fairly thick. I think she made them think because there was almost no polish left on the bottle as she was painting and I think she may have skimmed on the amount needed instead of asking me to choose a different color. I've been coming here for a while now, and I have always been happy! Since Sophia is out on vacation most of this month, they had a new woman come in to replace her. For some reason she doesn't know how to do much of anything and everyone knows in the salon that I like to do weird or complex designs or a million different colors etc. I come in every 2 weeks no matter what I get and if the gel stays on or not due to me either getting bored of the colors or they are chipped. I came in two weeks ago and was taken by the new women and I wanted a simple two different colored nails with a simple heart design, and she cleaned my nails and then had me wait until someone else was available. Today I got lucky and was sat with her once more and as soon as I sat down I asked if she can do my nails just like hers (she had cream to red ombre) and she said yes even gave me a look of "how dare you ask me such a silly question" so I'm like ok. I chose the black and purple colors and she goes on a frantic rampage saying she doesn't know how to do two color ombre. I'm like great so I have to wait once more which is fine and I'm not in a rush. I waited until the stylish pretty women with the round glasses came over fixed up my nails and started to go for the purple. I even pulled my hand away saying I want black on the bottom and purple on the top. She said she knows and that she needs to put the purple down first, I was very confused about this because it should be black first...to make this shorter, she did purple into black instead of black into purple which looks okay but a little silly especially since you can see the black messup clear as day. So..of course the woman (another customer) next to me said to tell her I wasnt happy and of course as a nice person I didn't want to but I mentioned that it was supposed to be the opposite but she then quickly turned my words around and against me telling me I wanted this and well it really made me feel very uncomfortable because she was being very harsh and I'm not one to argue because I hate fights and I feel like it was a waste of time. I told her it's fine...but I literally will not be back because I don't want to have to deal with this and come back to a negative atmosphere. She said that's fine. This is the best nail salon I have ever been to and I have been to a lot of them. I literally get my nails done every week. This salon is extremely clean and fairly new. This is the type of salon that doesn't have nail polishes that settled 40 years ago. They carry Essie, OPI and a few other big brands. The reason I like this salon is because they use disposable liners for the pedicure tubs and disposable buffers and files. They also scrub the soles of the feet with callus eliminator that other salons charge $5 dollars for. They finish the pedicure off with hot wax as well. If you're getting a gel manicure they use collagen uv protecting gloves. Overall, I highly recommend this place. Can't praise it enough. I've been to Katie, Lisa and Winnie and they're all excellent. read more

Love my nails! And most of all the cleanliness. Your bare feet never even touches their foot tub because they use a disposable plastic tub liner for every client. And you wouldnt feel any plastic bunched up on your feet either. They use disposable filers also. Another big plus! Foot massage was great and my heels are so super smooth. I love that they don't scrub your feet and keep going. She felt around to make sure she scrubbed off all the hardness.They are all very friendly and do not lolly gag either. They try to get you in and out and possible. Rushing when getting their tools for you but taking their time on you. My nail tech even reminded me about my parking meter without me even asking. I guess she saw me relaxing. I can honestly say I've never left a place feeling so relaxed and will definitely make this my permanent. And their bathroom is clean! read more

The service is great, very recommended electrolysis professional Lisa. It's the forth professional that I'm using, and she's the best one! After the first treatment, it took two weeks for the hair (I have shin problem ) to start coming back. The first treatment took about 25 min and the second only 5 min. This is how much less hair grew back. After wax, my hair usually grows back within 2-3 days, so electrolysis is the way to go for everyone with similar problem. read more

I like coming here ...most of the time it isn't packed, the place is clean and relaxing. There are a wide variety of colors to choose from. I enjoy most of the staff they're friendly except for the women who sits at the first table, Im pretty sure her name is Stephanie...she is very rude. On one occasion she complained I should tip her more the first time (and last time) she did my nails. I tipped her $10 for spa pedicure which I thought was more then generous since she manhandled me, made me bleed she defeated the whole relaxing purpose of my spa pedicure) It's also very impolite to talk about people in front or their face! As a word of advice since she is the first person you see when you walk in she should crack a smile more often and acknowledge customers, its just bad for business. Macro rainbow across the street was so crowded and had a 20 minute wait so I walked past this place and saw that it was empty and walked in. Loved my gel and pedicure! I have extremely short nails and most places try to file them down even more to get a shape but it's usually painful.. but not here! I also love the hand treatment they do for you while you're getting your mani and the paraffin foot thing is also included in the pedicure as well. The last time I came there probably was the 4th time in the salon. The quality of job depends on who does it (and unfortunately just a few of them do that good). Remember once Chloe did my French mani/pedi it was excellent, but the male who works there did my nails twice, both were terrible. He rushes, after him nails in different shape and length, my nails exfoliate and he didn't pay attention on it that made the gel color splits off on the 2nd day. The "manager" Stephanie needs to get off her high horse! She has a very bad attitude towards some clients not sure how that is tolerated by the owner. She is not pleasant at all and acts like our business should be taken elsewhere. With salons on every block of the avenue I would not have tolerated this if I was her boss. I have been going to this salon since the summer. And today will be the last time I'd be going there. I got one of the owners(I'm pretty sure she's the owner because she's usually the one manning the register or dealing with the employees) to do my nails today and it was awful. First she took off my gel and it was very rushed. BASICALLY SCRAPING OFF MY NAIL OFF MY FINGERS. THEN she does all the other things like filing and cuticle treatment which was fine. By the time she started to paint my nails, that was the worse part. One of her clients come in, I assume was waiting for her. And honestly I should've said something because I can feel that she just wanted to get done with me. She paints my nails and ok sure it looks alright. By the time we are done, she says OK DRY NOW. She doesn't even help me with my stuff she just rushes to her client to serve her. I'm sitting there drying my nails and I see that there's A LOT OF EMPTY SPACE ON THE SIDES OF MY NAILS. are you serious. I just wasted my time so I decide to just go to another nail specialist and let her know that it seriously looked like crap. Like how can you be doing this to my nails? She ended up redoing my nails and it was a LOT BETTER than the first time. It was a horrible experience and I highly doubt I'd come back. read more

This was maybe my fifth time visiting this place. It was on a rainy day and not many people were there when I walked in maybe one or two. I had a man do my manicure and pedicure. The last times I have been there the job done was great. This time it was just purely horrible and was upset with my visit. I understand when more customers walk in you tell them to wait till you're done but it does not mean rush out the client you have at the moment and give them a horrible job because they are paying you as well. I had to sit there for more than 2 hours because the job he done was not good. Not only did he paint my toes and hands in the worst way possible he left it leftover polish around my nails without cleaning it when I also asked him to do it. I could have done a better job painting then him. He did not even color the nails completely having two different shades and didn't clean cuticles well enough. The toes were worse than my hands. Also sorry job and left over cuticle and polish smudged everywhere. I was honestly upset until I had a female redo everything for me which lifted my spirit up. She redid the color and cleaned me up made me happier. After what have happened even though the issue was resolved I am not coming back to this place. read more
