Pacfic Track Time is absolutely awsome!…read more Last year, I wanted to start to learn more technical aspects of riding. I took a class on a small go kart track that was great, but wanted to see how it would translate to a full track. I talked with Michael numerous times to see if this was really something I wanted to do, could do. I didn't have a race bike, race leathers, and I was pushing 49 years old. Michael, correctly, convinced me I could do this safely, and no one would be laughing at me for being a newbie. You can tell Michael does this because he loves it, the same goes for his staff. Well, someone was laughing at me during the event, me! I was laughing at the event all day long! I loved it! I would highly recommend it to anyone who has some experience riding on the street (I believe they recommend 3,000 miles) and wants to get a LOT better! I learned things I never new I didn't know! I would highly recommend Pacific Track Time.

I wrote this on another PTT yelp but it looks like it was the wrong one so reposting here!…read more I have been doing trackdays since 2016 and PTT was my very first ever. Their instructors took me around the track as i was struggling to ride safe lines in C group and i was not very smooth on my braking or throttle. I have since returned to ride with PTT many times, and I will ride with an instructor in at least one session each day I'm there if they have one available. They have helped me progress into a safe and predictable A group rider. I had a bad crash and required a flight and they took excellent care of me and my crashed motorcycle. I strongly recommend PTT to others as they are a very respectful, and professional group that is very passionate about riding and they work very hard to maintain a safe environment for everyone to enjoy the track.

The Happy Valley Strawberry Festival is one among many food related festivals in the Redding area:…read morethe beer festival, the crab feed, the blackberry festival. All of them appeal to a certain demographic--the beer fest gets a lot of middle aged men, the blackberry fest seems to draw a high number of people who smell like incense and pot, and the strawberry festival makes me feel as if I've been transported to the heart of Utah. While the strawberry shortcake didn't meet my expectations (the crates full of Hostess shortcake bread sort of ruined it for me), it was worth the drive into Happy Valley just to see all the old-timey goodness. The women here wear long denim skirts in the heat of summer, the men were all plucking on banjos, and the children were singing religious hymns along with the banjo pucking. I'm fascinated--a little bit scared--but fascinated.

What feels almost impossible to ever get tickets to attend a show, my grandma was able to secure…read moretickets for the December 26 "A Christmas Star" and the "Oasis in Space" shows a whole month in advance. I can see why that they sell out fast; 65-ish seats inside the viewing area under the dome. I recommend sitting in the last 2 rows for optimum viewing when looking up. However, as a Christian believer, the story of "A Christmas Star" was special to watch with an interesting perspective on the North Star. There was an intermission between both shows where the exhibits were opened up for people to walk up to interact and explore. The exhibits were within the same room, so a very small space. Half of the people left after the first show. The small gift shop at the entrance of the planetarium was open as well. Oasis in Space was more of a show regarding our solar system which was interesting, but nothing too exciting like the first show. I am glad I got to have this experience of coming here to this little Redding, CA gem as I am a lover of stars and planets. Just know that you will need to book tickets in advance!

We go for special events, the Christmas lights are impeccable every year, and each year they change something or add something new to keep it interesting but still familiar. They have adult beverages as well as stuff for kids, in the center of it all they have lights that react to music and you can sit on a bench or stand with the family and enjoy some beautiful music while watching a light display follow the tune. The staff are always helpful and kind, and everything seems clean and orderly, whoever's in charge of this event does an amazing job! We got to interact up close with the wild horses and loved it. Yes, as some have commented the horses you see on this aren't truly wild. (they have a wild side with the real wild horses) but these horses you interact with live just about as close to wild as you will get. As much as a horse lover as I am, I really didn't know much about the situation with the Wild Horses and the BLM. Our trail guide (I wish I could remember her name, blonde super bubbly super sweet!) started in with a tour of the ranch and history of the founder Dayton and how he came to establish the sanctuary. The views are spectacular especially the lookout over the Cheyenne River. We learned that that particular spot was very important to the Native Americans as the river runs east west north and south in that location. There are carvings made by the Native Americans that are so interesting to see on the tour as well! The horses are so well cared for and we loved seeing the interaction between the groups. We had horses right in the windows of the SUV. Even my non-horse crazy fiancé had a great time. The bets part of the whole tour had to be seeing our guide and hearing about Dayton and his assistant Susan and everyone else on the ranch. To be witness to a group of people with such passion and truly selflessly helping these horses was an amazing energy to be around. For an authentic tour of the Black Hills and to help our a great cause, don't miss this while in the Black Hills!
