So after 3- 4 days of eating most of the local cuisine, I was starting to get a hankering for some Asian spices. I had walked by this joint a day earlier after walking across the bridge and trying to hit up the WOW Museum and decided to do a quick google search. The reviews stated that it was somewhat authentic so I decided to check it out. First of all, word of warning to those not as familiar with pricing in Europe. Food pricing in Europe (especially Switzerland) is generally expensive and Asian food is even MORE expensive so I really took the price equation out of this as I anticipated the bill to be somewhat ridiculous in comparison to American standards.
The joint has plenty of seating inside and the menu is comprised of predominantly Japanese and Chinese cuisine and they also have a vegan section breakout. I knew I was looking for spice so went with the twice cooked pork (or as they called it "fried pork belly meat with leeks, onions, ginger and bean sauce), the mapo tofu, and then a chicken egg fried rice. Also ordered a few Tsingtao beers which were nice and cold form the fridge. The twice cooked pork came out in this ornate dish... the flavors were kinda there but it was a non spicy version effectively. There was also not much protein to the dish but for what did exist, I kinda wish it had been more "Fried" like it should be. Still the flavors were there. The Chicken egg fried rice was good.. not too salty... not too heavy on soy sauce it felt so it was nice. The best dish was definitely the mapo tofu. The flavors were all there but honestly the portion was just a tad small.
With all this said, this is a pretty good spot to hit that "Asian craving" and definitely their mapo tofu will give you that spice you may be looking for. As mentioned above, the price is high... it did come out to nearly 100 CHF for what I mentioned here... but beggars cant be choosers Still good place for Chinese food if you are in Zurich! read more
