Every time I am in the area, going to Konop's is a must! They have the best wieners, ring bologna, beef sticks and brats. My favorite is the tailgater brat. But they have a bunch of brat flavors. Located out in the middle of what seems like nowhere, is an unimposing community called Stangelville. Here you will find some really good meats and cheese (at Krohn's). Because of their distance and hours of operation, for us it is a rare trip (and treat) to get there and purchase our favorite items. It is a nice drive through the country and on a Saturday morning, they are open until Noon, and they have a steady stream of customers. They are well known in this area for their beef jerky and their hot sticks. Both of these items are highly recommended and often requested by family members that live elsewhere when we go visit them. I also like their Zippy Summer Sausage. Their regular summer sausage is really good, but the Zippy has a little extra spiciness found with mustard seed. It is also available with or without garlic, just like their regular summer sausage. Konop's is located on the east side of County Road AB (Hwy 163), just south of Country Road J. read more

My grandfather introduced me to Konop's Meat Market over 20 years ago. Stangelville isn't exactly close to Manitowoc, but I go here every time I'm home for the holidays. The smoked weiners are outstanding. My mother buys these by the 5 and 10 pound package as holiday gifts for friends and neighbors. The meat sticks are a great protein snack packed with awesome flavors. They also have some very unique bratwurst flavors. Once you try their brats, you'll probably never buy Johnsonville again. Going to Konop's is like stepping back in time to when the neighborhood butcher was commonplace. Not only is the quality outstanding but it's very affordable. If Konop's were in a trendy neighborhood in Brooklyn, they'd probably could be charging 5-10x their current prices. It's worth the drive! read more

Summary: Great brats at great prices, really recommend the mushroom and swiss brats. I've had their onion brats and mushroom and swiss brats. Onion brats were good but they were too,well... Oniony for me. If you really dig the flavoring of green onions than this is the brat for you. The Mushroom and Swiss brats were really delicious super juicy and moist, very flavorful. I had the pleasure to first try their hot sticks back in 2008 and have always enjoyed their meats since then. Whether it's their famous hot sticks or the BBQ sticks, or perhaps their smoked ham and even their andouille sausage; I am never disappointed at what I get. They are top notch in both service and in the quality of their products. Not to mention they are both helpful and patient as you ask for information about their different offerings. We now live in Chicago so we find ourselves stocking up when ever we head up to see friends in the area. The address is Denmark WI, but it is actually in Stangleville WI. Denmark is probably the postal address, but Konops is in the middle of this one horse town. Just down the road from Krohns market, you can't miss it as it is one of the only places in this town. I arrived at 11:30 on a Saturday and they are only open until noon. It was crazy like take a number busy. The 6 car parking lot was full and cars were parked on the road. This alone would have piqued my curiosity if I were just driving by. Of course there were several people ahead of me when I walked in. This gave me time to look around. There are 2 freezers with choice cuts of meat and sausages. They had more deli meats in the front counter. They offer fresh chorizo, something that isn't too common around here. There were several different kinds of brats and ring bologna. I picked up a half pound of home made summer sausage. The prices were reasonable. I will be back to sample more of their goodies, but it will require a road trip as this place is on the way to nowhere. read more

Konop's Meat Market has a very large selection of different meats, but my favorites are their mild and hot beef sticks. They are always super fresh. I bought some of their beef jerky today, but didn't love them. It almost had the consistency of sausage, not like most jerkies I've had. I think I'll just stick to beef sticks, definitely worth the commute out there. read more
