There's a lot of barbers out there but VTCN is great. I've been getting my hair cut from Stephanie for the last 2-3 years now including the pre-vtcn days and let me tell you, she really knows how to deal with the science of hair/head shapes and style appropriately. I have gnarly cowlicks I wasn't able to style and she managed to cut it appropriately so it grows and shapes naturally. It looks good and I always know she'll cut my hair consistently and I'm sure the same goes for Pope and Nina. Make sure you book ahead of time and show up on time as they get pretty busy! read more

He showed up to her chair with the worst chop up from another barber and she cleaned him up nicely! After reading all the amazing reviews (Yelp/FB) I thought I had found my forever barber, unfortunately I was wrong. The girls there are really nice, friendly, place is new, in a good location and clean. But this review is for the haircut I received on 7/5. After taking a shower and trying to style my hair I noticed all the imperfections. If I would have paid 10$ I would have brushed it off and said oh well, I got what I paid for but 30$ plus tip I'm a little bothered and unsatisfied with the haircut. I was very specific about having a clean line with no stray hairs. In response to the comment below: Definitely not degrading the barbers, I'm sure they're amazing. Maybe miscommunication or we could have took more time on the cut. It could have been explained better to me because I'm not the professional. But thanks for putting words in my mouth! I decided to try a new place for a haircut, and discovered this from a quick Yelp search. Nina got me in quickly, and did a great job. She was very friendly and gave close attention to the new style of haircut I was looking for. She gave a super nice haircut, and was very detail oriented. Her attention to detail made it very apparent how much pride she takes in her work. The shop itself is set up like a small boutique salon, with modern decor and intimate setting. There are about three salon chairs, and a couch and seat to wait on. They provide you with drinks while you're waiting, so that's pretty awesome. Overall this is definitely a cool little spot. The stylists do great work, and you should be pretty happy with your visit here! *As a note, you should park in the Barnes and Nobles parking lot and make the short walk. Pope The Barber is hands down the best at what she does. Went with my best friend to get her haircut. And was in love with the whole experience and I didn't even get the haircut. HAHA! My son couldn't get in until July with his regular barber, so I did a yelp search for another barber in town and came across VTCN. Butter took care of my 8 year old, and his attention to detail is amazing! It's great to see people who take pride in their work. My son is picky, and usually complains about something while getting his haircut, but he didn't complain one bit, and he absolutely loves his haircut. I've been looking for a good barber shop for a while now. I lived in San Diego and recently moved to the OC area, im glad to say that I've finally found my barber in this shop. Brodi B. Was very talented in giving me the haircut that I asked for. I normally just view at negative yelp reviews and base my choice on those bad reviews, if the reviews have no relevant negative feedback on barbers or their performance then I choose to go there either way. I decided to call in and ask if they had any open available time for me to come in the same day and they were able to accommodate me within an hour and a half of my call. The vibe in here is cool, as soon as you walk in you have the barbers greet you and make you feel welcome. The price was appropriate. I got my haircut for $30 and a beard cut for $15. Went to another barber shop (shop name will remain unknown), who I asked for a trim, and shave. The barber rushed through the cut, never asked if I wanted my hair tapered. The cut was uneven all the way around my head. Barber didn't even do the shave I asked for. I needed my hair fixed, and my face shaved. Nina to the rescue! SO glad I am Instagram stalker or I may have never found this place and its amazing artists. My hubs was looking for a barber. He was loyal to his barber back in England so getting him to try new places in his new home has been tricky but he has had some pretty stodgey experiences so I can't blame him. Until he came to the Vatican. With the online booking system he was able to pick a barber and time. He walked in and was immediately taken care of. The atmosphere is very relaxed and just feels like you are hanging out with a group of friends. Everyone is so nice. They do accept walk ins as well. Tip: bring cash they do not accept cards. His hair was cut to such high standard and honestly watching the other barbers was fascinating as it is literally an art form for them. We are so glad we found Pope and crew. Even though this is a barbershop, you'd never realize the hidden gem that is "waxed and relaxed" on the 3rd floor. I recently been thinking about getting my legs waxed but was unsure I do so 1. Pain and 2. Price after some research I came across this place and found my new go to girl Kate. When she told me it would $30 but for my first time it's 20% off any service and she was available, I no joke hopped in my car and got there within 10min! I have never heard of leg waxing being that great of a deal! She met me outside and showed me up to the 3rd floor, seriously though this place is like a tree house, I love the look and vibes. Once I sat down she began with what I thought would be a tearful process but actually was not even that bad! We talked and joked the entire time without any tears during the waxing process. (Shocked!) She really took her time to get everything which is hard for my first ever leg wax! I have her contact saved in my phone now she is definitely someone I would recommend again and again. They use Reservo to book appts. Really easy to use and flexible. Arrived and had no wait. Calm, and peaceful environment and view from the chair. Butters helped me out the first 2 visits he was very professional and easy to ask those sometimes awkward questions about styling and stuff. Today I had Pope. Very dissatisfied with the way appointments work. I went in four times to get a haircut by Stephanie who has great skills. However her time management is not appropriate. In all my appointments I usually waited more than 15 minutes to get seated. This is not a big deal but why make appointments if you cannot meet the promise to have your customer seated within five minutes of an appointment. In that case walk-ins are the norm. More than four times is not acceptable for a shop advertising premier haircuts. The haircut is $30 and I tip $10 to total $40. When I pay that money I expect my barber deliver in every way. My last visit I was late due the rain and the challenges of parking near Olive Garden. I would have been pleased to see Stephanie offer to have me wait for another barber if possible but she basically turned me away which is fine I realized the customer is not the priority. It just so happens I waited for her 4 times when she was late for my appointment and that not cool. read more

I got my hair cut by Pope at Vatican. Yes you read that right. Pope did an awesome job cleaning up my grown out buzzed head. This Pope doesn't wear a robe. The shop is clean and the staff is very friendly. I must've been asked no less than 4 times if I wanted a drink. If I didn't have to drive myself home I probably would've had some of that cognac! The shop is a little small and seating is somewhat limited but I assume that will change since they just opened. I suggest making an appointment. I walked in and had to come back later because they were already busy. I guess good word of mouth is spreading quickly. Thanks for the cut Pope! See u again. P.S. A close friend of mine is also a small business owner so I know first hand that good word of mouth can make a new business catch fire. Excellent service and great cut by Danny at Vatican. I walked in without an appointment on a Wednesday afternoon and was taken immediately. Of course I would expect nothing less from a barbershop owned and operated by Pope. The shop has awesome decor, extremely clean, and they offer you a beverage to accompany your cut. There is lots of parking in the shopping center adjacent to the shop so you never have to look far. Will definitely be coming back! read more
