Recieved a bag of whole beans as a gift and it was amazingly good! I wish they would sell it online.

They have the entire operation on display, everything from unloading and washing the beans to drying, roasting and grinding. We have been drinking Lions for over 30 years. We order from the operation in Honolulu where they do the 10% Kona mixes and roasting/grinding. This operation is much smaller and only does the roast and grind of the 100% Kona.

For reference, I have tried about 40 Kona Coffees, so to make the top five, in my mind, puts this in the upper echelon of Kona Coffees. I bought whole bean, medium roast coffee. The beans were evenly roasted and I did not find any "defects"-extremely small or chipped bean parts in the bag. I used the pour-over method and found the aroma to be excellent. My office was full of a wonderful coffee smell. The flavor was a bit more earthy than many Kona Coffees, which I liked. A tip for coffee lovers: buy single-estate 100% Kona Coffee and you'll discover some of the nuances of Kona Coffee that you won't find in a blended coffee. It did have all the important characteristics I associate with Kona Coffee: a smooth taste with low acidity.

Normally my rich Uncle Jim brings me coffee beans from his quarterly trips to Hawaii. But this…read moredarned virus has him stuck at home, and as my Kona supplies dwindled I turned to the Internet. Using Google Maps satellite view, I focused my search on plantations rather than retailers, and chose Old Hawaiian. Talk about lucky! Six days from order to delivery, and the organic dark roast Kona ... spectacular! The smell during the grind was intoxicating; I literally got just slightly light-headed from ecstasy when I drew in a full breath from the grinding chamber of my burr mill. The taste, from the first French-pressed sip to the last, was earthy and rich. The mouth feel was smoother and a little heavier than expected, which makes me think Uncle Jim has been sending me bargain bags rather than the stuff fresh out of the roaster. Not complaining! Kona is an expensive habit, and even with free, fast shipping there are cheaper options ... but I'll using Uncle Jim's future gifts (once this virus is tamed) in the coffee pot at work and I'll be drinking Old Hawaiian in my Ember travel mug.

The coffee is organic, which is a plus as per my wife I would highly recommend purchase of their coffee because it is outstanding. I have always gotten the medium roast but that is the only one I can comment on. Old Hawaiian coffee gives personalized service which is outstanding and unusual in this industry.. Misha is the owner which I talk to a couple times a year to see how everything is for him and had some great conversations throughout the year. I give it a five star rating!

There is something to be said about the view and the fantastic coffee!!!! Wow was it top tier! It feels like a custom tropical treehouse. We sat around her concrete table as we sipped sample after sample of award winning Kona coffee. On the TV we watched a live feed of the volcano. It was such a genuine experience all the way through. She took the time to walk us around the farm and explain the entire process. So much effort goes into making such a delicious cup of coffee. This place is highly recommended. It has extremely limited hours so be sure to be mindful of that .

We were served several tastings of the coffee (7 or 8 small cups) and every cup was delicious! My favorite was the SL34 and I purchased a purchased a pound and half of it. After the tastings, we were taken on a tour around the farm and processing areas and it was so great to see Leslie treat the workers with love and respect. It was genuinely the best coffee farm we had been to...and we've been to several! The view is beautiful as well. The hours are extremely limited so make sure to make plan to come.
