The best hot chocolate you'll have down under, or possibly anywhere. I was given several bags of their hot cocoa mix to make back at home as gifts and let me tell you, if there is anything I rationed at home, this was it. I mean, I had to Really love you to share some of this stuff. So when the hubs & I visited, we came here in the (late) evening (no wait) to actually try their chocolate. Classic Belgian hot chocolate was a rich and creamy perfection in a cup. We also sampled their Dessert Gustation (a medly of chocolate made several ways - handmade chocolate, ice cream, cake, etc.). Def worth a trip!

As recommended by a local, we decided to stop by Koko Black for some hot chocolate. Koko Black is a popular chain coffee shop that sells all sorts of truffles and chocolates, as well as chocolate shaving hot cocoa. They also have an in house cafe where they serve their hot cocoa, both hot and cold, and other desserts - which look quite good! I really wanted to try their iced hot chocolate, but I was too full from lunch. The packaging is classy (but a bit expensive), and the cute bunnies in the window are beckoning you to indulge yourself!

Loved this place when I was visiting town (pre-covid)! Deilcious, high-quality desserts that are perfect for your sweet tooth.

I am a girl who loves her (hot) chocolate... And personally, I think Koko Black serves the best hot chocolate in the world! Yes...The hot chocolate here is so gloriously creamy and decadent that I could see myself having a cup of these chocolatey drinks everyday... Forever! Located inside the Royal Arcade, this uber chic chocolate shop/cafe provides a sophisticated and refine atmosphere. It feels like walking into a high end boutique that sells everything chocolate from pure chocolate to the more exotic ones (chili, hazelnut and cinnamon) . We got seated on the top floor and based on the waiter's suggestions, we tried both the classic and the cinnamon (their two most popular flavors). Between the two, the classic was my preference. It was so rich, smooth and heavenly! The cinnamon was also equally astounding, love that the cinnamon spice doesn't overpower the chocolate at all. Absolutely worth the premium price of $7.50 per cup! For a shop that is devoted to chocolate, Koko Black is definitely a must visit especially if you are also a chocolate lover. Unfortunately, for this visit, I only had tummy room for their drinks but as you can tell...just one sip and I'm completely smitten and I'll definitely be back for their desserts!

This is where you go on a chilly and gloomy day to feel sophisticated and treat yourself. I got the hot chocolate as well as bought some of the chocolates to go. The chocolate prices are that of any specialty chocolate shop where you're just trying to get someone a nice gift or you're throwing a small dinner party. They had a rose and pear dark chocolate that I really really enjoyed. The hot chocolate was really good but a little sweet for my particular liking but you can get different kinds, so I probably should've gotten a more bitter one. The consistency was on point though. I can not remember for the life of me the waiters name and or the people at the counter but they were all so kind and helpful! Plus, the bags they give you to hold the chocolate are so cute, you can definitely use them again for a small gift bag

Upscale chocolate chain that's a must try and worth every penny. This location is nested inside the Royal Arcade with a decent amount of seats. They sell chocolate by the piece and sticker price my shock some but it's some of the best chocolate I've ever had. If you are touring the city, stop here for a break and sit in the halls of the Royal Arcade and enjoy one of their fine cups of hot chocolate and desserts. I loved their soy hot chocolate and their flour-less orange cake very much. Service here is always welcoming and friendly.

Koko black is one of several chocolate 'chains' around Melbourne. This one located at Royal Arcade is beautiful and always busy. There's seatings in the arcade, inside or upstairs. Hot chocolates here are just ok for me but the star is definitely the chocolate. Truffles are beautiful and you can see chocolatier working in the window. If you are here to do the chocolate walking tour Koko black is one of those stops and offer delicious and generous tastings.

After over 5 years living in Belgium, one of the first things I needed to do to really feel like Melbourne is my home was to find a good (hot) chocolate place! On a rainy day, I made my way to the beautiful Royal Arcades and entered the very classy Koko black shop. The smell is a reason to go there in itself! Simply intoxicating! I sat down to enjoy their new limited edition - orange infused hot chocolate, and it was as tasty as it looked! I'll definitely come back to try some of their pralines, and will update this review after I've tried the other contestants in my "best hot chocolate in Melbourne" contest!

Wow, this is how you know I'm behind in my reviews. I'm already three weeks past for this review :P…read moreSo anyways, I had just finished the wonderful time eating a burger when I saw a chocolate store to my left upon exiting. Chocolate? I love chocolate! So I went in and got some more even though I had got some earlier that same day HAHA. They have a WIDE range of chocolate that they put in a really small store. There are a lot of chocolate (white, dark, or milk - maybe even more) that's mixed with fruit (raisins, orange, strawberries). They have a wide assortment and my eyes only had about 3 minutes to look through everything, so I just got stuff that my eyes saw interesting. Chocolate covered strawberries, I believe they were milk chocolate. You get freeze dried strawberries with chocolate surrounding it. It's basically a malt ball with a hint of strawberry inside. This was one pretty good, better than what I was expecting. The strawberry flavor isn't a lot, but you can get it come out if you bite the chocolate in half. :P They had dark chocolate peppermint. PEPPERMINT. They have it all over as pieces and they're refreshing. It comes out of left field and you totally will enjoy it if you're a fan of peppermint :D The chocolate melted so this went in the refrigerator when I got back to LA (LA WHYYY) so I didn't get to eat this first D: Shoulda. Get it if you're a fan of peppermint! There was also 99% chocolate here. I'm assuming the person I got it for enjoyed it. ;) Totally would have gotten more if I had more time, or if I had more room in my luggage HAHA. On DeGraves, in case! The price for the three was 35AUD so the price is kinda high. I think.

Honest chocolate, experimentally executed, well worth visit.read more

Those noobs went over to Trampoline while I walked into Lindt Chocolat Cafe and they have absolutely no clue what glorious desserts they were missing out on. And my friend had the nerve to take a bite of his gelato and tell me that I made the wrong decision. Ohohoho~ Cookies and Cream Ice Cream with Hot Fudge drizzled on top and 3 delicious macarons. I most definitely did not make a wrong decision. The Ice Cream had the perfect flavour and consistency not to mention brilliantly complimented the fudge. The macarons were absolutely delicious, but were a bit too pricey for what they were worth I think but that's okay. Overall, Lindt Chocolat Cafe is cheap, but a bit more expensive than other dessert spots you'll find in Melbourne. However, they don't skimp on the quality so definitely treat yourself to Lindt every once in a while.

The entrance is inviting and sparkling, yet there is a bit of disappointment as you enter the establishment. The chocolate is tempting, however your much better off financially buying Lindt chocolate in any supermarket around Melbourne looking at the price tags. It is small and crowded (the latter would be expected for being the first day of opening) although the small layout is disappointing; and it was nice to have been given a two for one drinks voucher and one of their Lindor balls on the house. The staff are friendly, yet the prices can be a little over the top. Their iced and hot chocolates (milk varieties) are to die for, enjoy and experience at least once. Decided to give their ice cream a go. One scoop is $7 here, so again a bit pricey - you would be better off heading to nearby Calatrava or Baci. Tried their Black Forest ice cream; it was filling and did leave a bitter Lindt dark chocolate aftertaste in my mouth. Sorry guys, however I am not coming back here in a hurry.
