Premium tasting coffee, great customer service and fantastic atmospheres! The Canberra City Koko Black won't disappoint! Coffee: A cappuccino for only $4.00 is a steal especially from the fancy establishment Koko Black! The coffee was smooth, and provided rich flavours, also topped with dark chocolate flakes to add an even more immersive experience. Customer Service: Fantastic customer service from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, they bring chilled water and menus when you've taken a seat and go the extra mile to check up during your meal/beverage to see if everything is going well. Atmosphere: Good outdoor seating area with above head heating, and a well planned indoor seating area.

you usually cant go wrong with any coffee spots in Straya. Coffee here was good and they offer both…read moreindoor and outdoor seating which was also plentiful. They have plated meals but also quick munchies. We got their flat white and their coffee+croissant combo. Unfortunately, croissant wasnt fresh. Dry and not flaky at all. For some reason, im not so surprised being that this is also a grab-an-go place option. we still ate in anyway. We did enjoy their outdoor seating and that they are dog-friendly. Good thing weather was lovely during our visit.

Eighty/Twenty is a great spot for a very delicious breakfast in Canberra…read more I ordered the "Avo + Tomato" with a side of garlic thyme mushrooms for $21.50 and it was delightful to say the least. My companion ordered the "Free Range Eggs" with a side of warmed tomatoes for $16 and enjoyed it thoroughly. The portions reflect the price as they are heaped and plentiful, suitable for a large appetite. I applaud the restaurant's message, providing food that is clean, natural and unprocessed, as it reflects the standards many people wish to uphold to maintain a healthy lifestyle. They cater for a wide variety of dietary requirements which I believe is very important when managing a cafe. The atmosphere inside the cafe was suitable family get together, aswell as individual work as there are many different table options, eg. individual tables and communal benches. Overall, I would highly recommend Eighty/Twenty cafe to anyone wanting a healthy breakfast with friends and family.

This is one of the oldest, and also one of my favourite, cafes in Canberra…read more It seems like its been around forever; one of the original cafes located in the Garema Place arc (right next door to the much larger, but not as good, Gus's). The coffee is always really good; they have a huge selection of very good teas, and the food is great; whether breakfast and brunch (which I find myself here for more than anything else) or the great desserts. Insiders tip: if you like banana smoothies, try the Buzz. They've added two shots of espresso to it and I can't get enough of them. There's no better place to sit outside in Garema Place.

Brunch is such a touchy subject with me: Cafe cruises are one of my favourite pastimes despite the…read moresheer number of average cafes that overwhelmingly outweigh the must-go-back brunch spots. I can't count the times I've had eggs over poached and roasted tomatoes that just tasted like, well, tomatoes and nothing else! Cafe Essen is nestled within Canberra's cafe hub - Garema Place in the city. There are four or five cafes in a row here, making it incredibly difficult to decide which one to go for. In my opinion, none of them are "stand out," as they all have similar menus and outdoor seating; and by outdoor seating I mean tables set within a commercial shopping mall strip. The server was really kind and very accommodating for my vegetarian requests. I ordered a big breakfast and swapped out the bacon for spinach, and a cappuccino to match. It was.. just... food. There was nothing spectacular or noteworthy in the flavours of the items and for around $18 a plate, I can't say the portions were particularly generous either. And the coffee was.. just .. coffee. Not delicious, but not undrinkable either. Standard brunch fare for too big a fare strikes again!
