Neon orange, white and red, platinum, gray and black, red and gold. These are a few of the many bright-colored fish that swim in the waters of Koi-Mo, Koi-Ko, a business selling koi of many shapes, sizes, and species. Once bought, these fish are then scooped from the water, placed in a plastic bag, and set free to keep swimming in the pond of a customer's house, presumably belonging to one of the neighboring villages.
While other businesses in the area tend to come and go, it seems that koi sellers have been here forever, along with the verdant stores tending gardening plants next door. It might befuddle some to wonder how they manage to stay alive in such a busy street. But you'd be surprised how many people buy koi as gifts or new additions to the animal life at home.
If you're troubled over what presents to give to someone who likes having fish in their gardens for display, consider giving them koi. One fish costs around P1500-P2500 depending on size and species. Aside from really pretty fish, Koi-Mo, Koi-Ko also sells gardening pumps and pond accessories. read more
