The edame just has salt if you order the spicy one they just put siracha these are the worst edame I've had . I'm from Houston so edame is a little more creative out here . The service out waiter seemed like he didn't know right away what we wanted when we tried asking him and just lacked following up on drinks . The ambiance calm . The miso soup I believe was ok had no tofu in it and white rice great and general tso chicken a little over cooked . read more

The sushi was amazing! The service was great, and the best part is their Sunday special. Most of their specialty rolls are half price. My favorite was the Harlingen roll, but we ordered the Super crunch, Texas Roll, and Rainbow roll. They have a variety of beers as well as Japanese beers. Great experience and the place is clean and fast. read more

Very nice people, my children were having trouble with the chopsticks and a worker gave them some with rubber bands to help them learn. And the food is very well made and delicious. And it felt very friendly and fit the vibe the restaurant was going for. read more

My family and I tried the restaurant for the first time and were pretty disappointed. We weren't impressed with their service, food or ambiance. The restaurant looked decent interior and exterior wise. The food was overpriced for not so great quality. I was a little bummed about the whole experience. The fried rice tasted more like the oil it was cooked in instead of any spices it could've been cooked with. Rolls were decent. Would I go again? Me personally no. Maybe it's a good restaurant they were just having a bad day. read more

This has always been one of my favorite restaurants in the area. As always the food and table service were excellent. The problem came with the check. They added a gratuity to the bill, but I explained that I had already paid a gratuity in cash greater than what was on the check, and needed it removed from my bill. I was told that it was not possible. I put a generous tip in the tip jar on the cooks cart, as the menu stated that all gratuities are split evenly between cooking and wait staff. I was then told that that tip jar was that person's personal tip jar and not shared. I explained that is not what is written in the menu. So after a few minutes of arguing, I paid cash for the remainder of the bill and stormed out. I will never forget this and will never again return. What an awful end to what should have been a great dinner. I can hardly believe that they allowed this to happen. read more

The food was absolutely delicious. Our server was great, the chef was hilarious! Plenty of seating on a Friday night. It a great date night vibe! read more

Tried Kohnami for the first time and had a great experience! The server was a young man who said he was new. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference because it looked like he knew exactly what he was doing. It was also large party and he did great! I appreciate how friendly he was too! We sat at the hibachi table since a couple of our friends had never had a "hibachi experience." The hibachi chef was awesome! He was hilarious and put on such a great show. The first timers in my group had big ole smiles on their faces! Thank you for giving them that experience! Food was DELICIOUS. I don't know what they put in those sauces but maaaaaan. I want like a gallon of everything to take home. Can't wait to come back and try the sushi. read more

I ordered my meal to go and it was ready by the time I arrived. Service was very quick. The food tasted very good.

Food was great service was great and everything was amazing I got the combo pack recommended it!!

Not worth the trip. I've been here twice in as many weeks. The first time the slow service and mediocre sushi wasn't that bad because they have good sushi discounts on Sundays This time around was even worse than before. Their service is slow. Waited over 10 minutes for a server to come take a drink order. The dining area only had two other tables with people at them. That should have been the first clue. Ordered sushi and hibachi, they came out at completely different times leading to us not getting to actually eat together. HEB sushi is better quality and less expensive. read more

Can I order sashimi in a variety pack unless you order 14 pieces of one kind of fish. Otherwise it's chef choice. Moving on to a different location. read more

Our server Paige is absolutely amazing! She's so kind and respectfully! Always handle our food with care and checks up on us periodically! She is the main reason we enjoy going to Kohnami! She's a 10/10! read more

We're big fans of both locations. Like the fact that this location does hibachi for lunch hours as well. We always get the Special B where we get filet, chicken and shrimp. Extra broccoli makes it even better!! Fried rice of course is our option. Love the salad dressing but it comes with soup and salad. My husband and I tend to share so we can get more variety. Our favorite starters include crab puffs (ragoon), shrimp tempura, and sushi! They offer a variety of food options including hot and cold sushi. Definitely check them out if you are in the area!! Great for groups! read more

Good Food. 1/2 off sushi on Saturday and Sunday! Our kids loved the chicken teriyaki and fried rice.

It's one of the only places I will go for Asian food along with Hime restaurant. Kohnami is convenient because it's close to my home. If you're wanting something like PF Changs or Panda's orange chicken it's not. It's not crispy, it's soft. It's more like peppered chicken with a light orange sauce. It is still tasty, just different. read more

Trying to place to-go order by phone is frustrating. Call goes straight to voicemail.

I thought the food was good and at a decent price. Lots of good lunch specials. I had a bento box and I could not finish it because it was quite generous. The rice was practically overflowing, but that's fine with me. Also the service was friendly. I would eat here again. read more

Food was good and came out rather quickly. Our server was great. The portion sizes were pretty good for the price.

I've only ever had h‑e‑b sushi so this was a big upgrade. The golden california roll is best for those who don't really like sushi. I informed them of my shellfish allergy and they were kind and helped me out making sure there was no contamination. My food was ready for pickup in 10 minutes and they have apple pay! read more

Delicious sushi rolls! First time eating at this restaurant and it was great. Server was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend

Having never been to this new restaurant, I must say the aesthetics of the restaurant looks a lot better than the food quality being served within. I dine at many restaurants and must say that if and when a customer is displeased with the quality of food, the right thing to do is for the manager of the restaurant to come and address the issue at hand. Unfortunately that didn't happen here and the only person that loses is the business and the customer who didn't get the option of ordering another dish and left hungry. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to this restaurant ever again. #EverythingsBetterInMcAllen read more

The food was decent and tasted fine but I ended up with food poisoning. For that reason I can't really recommend it.

I ABSOLUTELY love this restaurant. Although I don't like sushi talking to the waitressers and waiters is an amazing experience by itself. Love the lighting and the Japanese pictures they add to the scenery and especially LOVE their ice cream tempura its amazeballs. read more

Sushi is good. Expect to wait a while for your to go order even when you call it in. Not very organized at the front or getting orders together. Don't get the fried sushi to take home because it'll be cold and not as tasty as fresh in the restaurant. read more

Really great food and service. Everything was quick and tasted delicious. Will for sure be returning and would recommend

My second time here, thought I'd give it a second chance. I was wrong... service SUCKED! Waitress probably gets paid hourly so she doesn't care what she makes in tips. Took me 15 minutes just to get my drink order which was water with a lemon. My glass was always empty with no one to ask if I'd like another beverage or another refill. I ordered the Scallop Teriyaki and waited 30 minutes just to get the side of fried rice that came with the meal. My spouse got her main entree 10 minutes before I did then we both had to wait 30 minutes for fried rice. Not a single manager or supervisor taking a look around to see how satisfied the guest were. I literally offered to help manage the place to help them as a favor. Management and owners should be ashamed of themselves if that is the type of place they are running. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! read more

Guys this restaurant is amazing!! I've only gone twice and tasted a few things but everything has been exceptional. The orgasmo roll is out of this world, their sushi guy knows exactly what he's doing. Their general tso guys is better than any other general tso I've EVER tasted. Not a huge fan of sweets but they treated us to the tempura ice cream and it was super good. I will continue to eat here & I highly recommend y'all try it. read more

Really tasty! The tepanyaki grill was delicious! The cook was very friendly, the salmon and scalops were cooked to perfection.

Terrible experience. Ordered the mango roll and it came with no mango or cucumber.. when I told the waitress she just stated "he's probably out of mango". Why would you serve something that's missing the main ingredient?! On top of it all.. the rolls were bland, small, and messy. They served the rolls on hot plates when they should be cold. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else. read more

Server could not remember orders. Several times we restated. The fire he made was so intense. We all had to move back from table and then he kept feeding it. Fried rice was plain no flavor. My seafood trio had so much teriyaki. Scallops were barely cooked. Bad experience read more

Stopped by to make a to-go order. Sat at bar and waited 15 minutes before any "server" said a word to me, never greeted me or acknowledged my existence. When the short little weirdo finally spoke after I asked to order, it replied, "oh, we're trying to see who is assisting you. The thing even had the nerve to plug her phone up in front of me and not once look my way and say "someone will be with you shortly." I'm an introvert, that doesn't need friends nor do I care to be treated kindly. What I do care about is where I spend my money and leave 25% tips. This new generation whose brains were fried by staring at their mobile phones and social apps are walking slugs. No one cares you think you're cool cause you have a job as a SERVER. . All I cared about is how amazing the salmon skin hand rolls are here and how I'll miss them because some people won't work-out so they can feel better about themselves so they can do their job efficiently. read more
