I just love Kohls. I love the variety of product. I love that I Live equally between the Portland and Biddeford locations This location in Portland is scarce for employees I can't always find someone when I need them. The parking lot can sometimes be dangerous because patrons just don't care that it is a "parking lot " and not a " roadway" They care clothing for the whole family. Jewelry, home goods , footwear, kitchen items and some tech stuff. They always have maulers that good home with coupons and you can earn Kohls cash. I always save a lot when I shop here. Yesterday I purchased an electric blanket that was originally $149 clearances to $69 but then throw in Kohls coupons it ended up costing me $43!!! In Maine sometimes a Sherpa electric blanket is needed! read more

This store is always a mess. There is little selection of clothing and shoe styles and sizes for a store of this size. Different styles and sizes are all mixed up on the racks. Checkout lines are long and slow. But I like the easy Amazon returns process. read more

Painful. I "ran" in to grab a pair of shoes for a service. What a mess! I grabbed a pair and spent 40 minutes in line to check out. Today.. Amazon return. 20 PEOPLE in line ahead of me. I left. I won't be back. The place is a mess short staffed. PAY YOUR PEOPLE!!! I will drive out of my way not to go back. Corporate and direct management should be ashamed. This place has gone right to hell. I know everywhere is understaffed, especially large chains that have the ability to but refuse to pay a living wage, but dear Lord. I came in to find shoes and it was a disaster. Shelves destroyed, half the shoes don't have prices on them and the ones that do are definitely not the usual price of Kohl's deals. Just walking around the store... This place is just a messy nightmare. You can see from just the few pics I got of shoes and men's that they clearly don't have the ability to organize anything. So here's the thing: I never shop at Kohls. I don't really understand their sales model. Like, things are unnecessarily expensive here, but they're actually always on sale? If it's this price to this price, then it's x-amount off, but if the price point is higher, then it's actually a different percentage off? And there's always Kohl's Cash to be spent? Advice: just get rid of all the confusing signs and discounts, and make your stuff cheaper. However, I'm at Kohl's like once a week now. Why? Amazon Returns. So that's what this review is for. The Amazon Return process. Which, I have to admit, has been pretty awesome. I just head directly to the back of the store where the little returns cart is, and -- as long as you're prepared and organized on your end -- it takes minutes. Usually the people working this are sooooooooooooo friendly; and I can tell that they also appreciate people who've got their stuff together. I've only had one extraordinarily bad experience with Amazon Returns (a manager had to step in and take over for the employee because of the self implosion this person was having and the massive scene they were causing; I've never seen that employee again, BTW). If you haven't done the Amazon Returns Via Kohl's yet because you've been like - WTH is this all about?! - it's all good. It's super easy. You don't need to print anything on your end, or even have a box. Just show up with your return, head to the back, show them the QR code on your phone, and be on your merry way (and while you're on your merry way you'll probably get a notification from Amazon saying your return has been completed, and here's your money back #thankyouverymuchandhaveaniceday). read more

I only visit Kohl's when I have an Amazon return. When you complete an Amazon return, the receipt always has a really good coupon on it. When I'm in this situation I do purchase something so I guess you can say the tactic works but I always leave feeling good about getting 25% off. read more

I will only shop at Kohls when I get emailed a coupon that is at least 20% off or higher and a coupon for $10 off my purchase. I get the emails or flyers in the regular mail constantly because you need these coupons to make the prices decent (still kind of pricey in my opinon, really). Without the coupons you would be paying WAY too much for the quality of the products. For instance, I made a jewelry purchase of a necklace and earrings a couple of weeks ago. The first time wearing them, both the necklace and the earrings broke beyond repair. I was able to return them both and exchanged them for exact duplicates in the store without much hassle. I mostly come to Kohls for the clothing and jewelry. The clothing is average quality and I would say a little more than average in price. I do like the fashion I can buy clothes to wear at my professional job at a reasonable price. I have never been impressed with the shoe selection here. I do notice that some of the clothing lines, Vera Wang for example, will shrink a size after a couple of washes, and look worn out very quickly. Sometimes you'll get the small holes at the front bottom of your shirts (what causes that, anyway!?). The check out lines are another story. They get LOONNNGGG and it takes forever for the cashiers to check people out. More than once I've had to go back to have the electronic tags removed that customers cant take off themselves. read more

Today (01/29/2021) I returned a royal blue blazer that my sister had bought me for Christmas. It was very pretty but didn't flatter me. I procrastinated because I hate returning Christmas gifts - indeed I usually don't - but this lovely jacket just didn't work for me. I was dreading the return because I'd waited so long. However, Phil in Customer Service (regular returns, not Amazon returns) processed my return with exceptional graciousness and speed. I received a merchandise gift card which I used immediately to buy something else I needed (and I spent a little more to help them keep going - we need our retailers, and they seem to be a dying breed). A lovely young woman named Mavey rang up my purchase. Mavey was warm and friendly. She proactively applied the 15% off storewide savings (which I was totally unaware of) to my new purchase. She scrupulously used hand sanitizer and cleaned the counter with sanitizer between customers. Also, as I'd walked around the store looking at the merchandise, I noticed that it was immaculate. The floors are a beautiful white stone with light gray flecks (probably quartz) and they looked sparkling. That's a challenge in winter when customers are tracking in snow/slush/mud. I'm giving Kohl's Westbrook an A+++ rating all around! read more

Took me 20 minutes to check out with one thing. Only two people ahead of me. I stood in the wrong side of the line by accident and an employee that was checking out looked right at me and went ahead of me without bothering to mention to me that I was standing in the wrong spot. My multiple experiences at this Kohl's hasn't changed since I moved up here two years ago. For some reason, the staff all look like they've been pulling all nighters and/or working double shifts. I have walked through all of the departments and the only one that needs help is the Juniors Department. The sizing is done incorrectly and clothes are always on the floor which makes it chaotic to shop. Personally, I am a stickler for neatness and it aches when I see clutter and disarray. However, the page turner is their merchandise. I like Kohl's because I can find a nice summer dress, a petite pair of jeans, fashionable jewelry for any occasion, work out gear, clearance rack deals for past seasons, K-Cups that are on sale for $14.99 and much more. This retailer is pricey in general, but there's always some sort of sale going on so that's the kicker! read more

I experience heart palpitations whenever I enter the Westbrook Kohls. I don't know if all Kohls stores are like this, but the Westbrook one is always, without fail, a huge mess. The clothes are apparently randomly hung, with various brands and styles all on one rack. The size almost never matches what the hanger says, either. I really wonder what image this store is trying to give the public. Another drawback is that the cashiers try way too hard to get me to sign up for their credit card. Once I give my first, "no, thank you", that should be the end. Today, I literally had to tell her no EIGHT times. I need to remember these things before I am tempted to go again. read more

Good clearance sales, but the reason this store is getting one star is from their high pressure sales tactics. I was hassled, dare I say, harassed, into signing up for a Kohl's credit card, of which I did not even want. The elderly woman working the cash register, Amy, wouldn't take no for an answer. I must have said no about 5 times, to which she'd reply "c'mon! what's the harm!". I told her that I have been rejected after applying in the past and so it'd be a waste of time and I didn't want one regardless, but she said that was fine because she'd still give me 20% off just for applying. Initially, I didn't understand why Amy kept telling me to lie and be extremely generous about how much money i make a year, but I realized once she "congratulated" me for being accepted, despite telling her from the start that i absolutely didn't want one. Bravo Amy, bravo. I even said to her after I was accepted that I still did not want the credit card, but she said "c'mon, it's good for you!". I don't work well under pressure and I feel that Amy picked me out and conned me into signing up for a Kohl's credit card just so she could collect some sort of commission. I don't appreciate high pressure sales tactics and I don't like the fact that I have to deal with the hassle of cancelling my card. Will not shop at this location ever again. read more
