I am so impressed with the service at this store! On my first visit I was looking for gym shoes to…read moreuse specifically for indoor workouts--and I hadn't bought new shoes in years, relying on an old pair of Brooks that were stretched out and run down in the treads. I also have giant, flat, bunion-bedecked flippers that are notoriously hard to fit--which isn't a problem here, because they scan your feet to get a 3D model (cool!) and then spend all the time you need to find exactly what fits. I tried on numerous pairs and the nice young man helping me was very knowledgeable and never rushed me at all. I ended up with a new brand I'd never heard of before (Topo) and they've been fantastic--comfortable from the very first wear. With wonderful service like this, it's no wonder I recently went back to get another pair for walking and trails (updated Brooks model this time). My feet (and knees) are SO much happier now that I have the right fit. Prices seem to be standard list (not sure if there are sales), but that's OK; the 60-day return policy is very generous and I appreciate that they want to make sure you're happy with what you buy. Tip: yes, it may be busy here, especially on a weekend--there's usually someone running a list at the front (or ask at the counter), so just give them your name and they'll get to you!

So, Fleet Feet Maine Running/Maine Running Company is now part of the Marathon Sports chain. It…read moreholds onto its reputation as a fantastic place to buy running shoes. Perfect for early-20-somethings to mid-40-somethings with an eye for fashion but with the other eye on their checking account. I've found Agolde jean shorts, a $300 winter jacket for only $110 (which has become a staple in my Maine winter wardrobe!) and countless cute sweaters and tops at a fraction of their retail price. They have a great selection of dresses apt for wedding guests, and a solid amount of high quality footwear as well. The way the store is organized is yet another plus. They organize by clothing type and color, which makes for a seamless shopping experience and caters to my selectivity. As someone who is embarrassingly picky about what ends up in my wardrobe's rotation, and is also committed to ethical consumerism, but whose wallet can't always accommodate my tastes, the Haberdashery is a godsend. I'm always surprised at what I end up finding (and walking away with) whenever I head in. As a seller, I appreciate their model--get more bang for your buck with store credit, or opt for cash-only. What a gem!!

I didn't think I'd be leaving Maine with a brand new pair of beautifullllll clogs but I am so happy…read morethat I am! My plan for Portland was wander, eat, sip and wander some more. But this wonderful shop with wooden clogs lining the windows was too cute to pass up without a walk through. Especially since I had commented TWICE that day already on other people's cute clogs and how I really wanted a good pair. I took it as a sign. One side of the shop is the store, the other their workshop, and the entire space smells like leather. The woman working that day, who I would guess was the owner, was kind and patient and got me a few different pairs to try on. I left before buying to debate if I wanted to spend a bit of $ on a pair and also needed to decide on a color (brown or black). Well, after a drink at a nearby brewery, I returned and bought my great new pair of shoes. They are comfy and cute and came in a great little cloth tote bag I've used quite a few times already. All and all a great purchase, and a shop I highly recommend for shoes and all things leather!

A had a chat with the very friendly person working there (the owner maybe) and then noticed a dreamy leather tote, just the right light brownish red that kind of matches my hair. It was an ok price for a thick leather, well built tote, although more than I had planned to spend that day. I couldn't resist. Now 3 years later I'm still using the tote and get compliments all of the time. Right now I'm building a smallish house and find myself throwing saw blades, pints of paint, and other items I pick up at the store into it. Not normally what one should do with a nice purse, but the purse is unphased. It gets more of a worn in look, but it's even more lovely as such.

All great items for camping or for your home at great prices. I had asked if they had a bathroom, and they said no. A lot of homelessness that has made it difficult for paying customers to use the bathrooms. It's sad, cause I had done hours of walking around Old Port and Portland area, and there's no place to go to the bathroom. Times have changed
