Been a long time regular here and I always leave happy with the haircuts I get. Prices are at $26 cash only. It has always been a solid walk in location especially when there isn't a wait. With Miro he always cuts my hair quick and precisely and at the end of every haircut he takes a razor and some hot foam to cleanly line up your sides and back which is always a nice touch. The store itself doesn't have a bathroom but as long as you ask him, he will give you keys and tell you where the bathroom is in the building. read more

KOCA Barbershop has implemented the safest precautions and has responded extremely well in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been getting my haircut here for the past 4 years. While I have written reviews about how stellar of a job they do with my hair, I feel it is important to highlight my most recent experience as it relates to their commitment in keeping me and the rest of their customers as safe as possible. I just recently got my haircut here for the first time since the pandemic started. Unsure of what to expect, I was immediately relieved to see how everything was set up. Not only was each barber wearing masks and gloves, but they also had their customers spread out to meet social distance guidelines. Before I sat down in my chair for my haircut, my barber immediately changed into new gloves and sprayed down the chair with disinfectant. I was then quickly offered hand sanitizer. She also sprayed down the buzzer and scissors before she used them on my hair and would periodically stop to re spray them to ensure they were clean. Obviously there can be a bit of anxiety when it comes to getting your haircut, as it means being in close proximity to another individual. But my hope is that this Yelp review can provide some rest assurance that KOCA Barbershop is taking this pandemic very seriously. They certainly made my experience as stress free as possible. read more

I've been going here for about 8 years; since it was in its previous location on the main street. I'm a guy and the way I like my hair is reasonably simple. Neverthless I've had hairdressers and barbers mess it up. At Koca they always get it right -- and I've had at least the three main hairdressers there give me the cut. I've been coming here for years and can't believe it's taken me so long to write them a review. I'm very particular about my haircuts and have always been happy with results from each of the three barbers/stylists. Price is very reasonable and you'll always have friendly service. A great place for a haircut and/or a shave! Upon moving to this area several months ago I needed to find a barber. This isn't a task that I enjoy as finding a good barber is usually a pain in the neck. I searched for my nearest barbershop and I decided to give KOCA a try, I'm glad I did. Walking by KOCA you may dismiss it as the name doesn't instill a sense of confidence because it sounds like a salon name, but that would be a mistake. Inside, KOCA is new and clean. It is owned and run by Miro who is a great barber. He takes the time to do a good job and I appreciate that. Haircuts are a reasonable $18, and he also offers shaves for $25. The shaves are great. It was very relaxing with an assortment of good smelling and great feeling products, hot towels and a steady hand. The shave was as good as the best shave I've given myself but with less bleeding. If you haven't had a real shave before, KOCA is a great place to go to have one. Appointments aren't taken, but you can always give Miro a call to see how crowded it is. I have to say, I was quite lucky to find this place on my first try. Give KOCA a try, you won't be disappointed. KOCA now has four barbers working at certain times. Miro is still there of course, but there are also two lady and a young man making the hair fly at KOCA. read more

KOCA is the best barbershop in town, hands down. I've been going here since it opened (at its old location), and haven't ever considered switching to another place. My hair is absolutely awful (wavey, thick, poofy) and I don't lend myself easily to haircuts. However, Miro and Co. always do a great job. They're really friendly people who just like to give people good haircuts. There have been times when my friends and I all need a haircut, and we just go together and laugh with the barber over how funny we look before the haircut is done (like when it's still long on the top but the sides are all buzzed). The only complaint there is about KOCA is that they always cut it a little shorter than you imagine for yourself. 2 fixes: 1) Ask for it to be longer than you actually want 2) 99% of the time they know what's best, and they cut it to where it looks good, even if it is a little short. read more

My first time in was this afternoon, and I have to say I was extremely impressed. You know the image you conjure up when you think of the local barber shop? Not the one actually in your neighborhood, but the one you WISHED was in your neighborhood? Well this is that place. The chatty customers, the kids burrowing through the toy box... Yeah, it's that kind of place. But it's also classy, comfortable (the oversized chairs are awesome) and... wait for it... Super affordable! And this is no Supercuts special. I got a great haircut, trimmed eyebrows, and Miro (the very friendly guy who gave me my cut- I think he's the owner) finishes off with a little hot shaving cream on the sideburns and neck before breaking out the strait razor. I had never had a good experience at a Barber Shop until I went and saw Miro at Koca. It's just him for now, and he does an exceptional job each and every time I go there. Most barbers give you a "one size fits all" haircut. At KOCA, they take their time and give you exactly what you ask for. Impeccable attention to detail here as well right down the the warm shaving cream. Prices are also more than reasonable here. A full cut runs $16 and a trim is $8. You can't beat the service. I was in the market for a new barbershop about 6-10 months ago. I had just moved to the Boston area and was working in North Cambridge/Fresh Pond area. I searched yelp and found this place so i figured i'd give it a try. These guys are top notch! First off, they are very professional and very customer focused. THEY ACTUALLY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU TELL THEM and cut your hair the way you asked. Additionally, they always check in to make sure the haircut is looking the way you like it. Prices are very fair, and they work very quickly; the longest ive ever waited is 10 minutes. I go back here about once a month now, and have never had a bad hair cut. I highly suggest checking this place out, even though it is a bit of a ride outside the city, its worth the extra 10 minute drive. You know you will be treated well! read more

I recently moved to Belmont and was hoping to find a new Barber. I tried calling the Koca business number which is the same number on Yelp, Google, and their Facebook page. The voice mail system asks to leave a Name and Number, which I did after a couple days.. No returned call. I decided to stop by on a Friday around 4 PM, baring in mind that Google/Facebook/Yelp says their hours are open until 7:00 PM on Friday. After entering I was poorly greeted by a short bald man who said we're closing. I proceeded to politely mention I tried calling and left a voicemail and never received a call back he quietly mumbled something and then said doesn't work. I stand there hopeless with little to no information on how to actually get an appointment. Then leave because he mentioned again that they're closing... I would avoid this place as they're unprofessional and rude. They already have a client base and don't seem interested in helping new customers. read more

After moving out of Somerville to Waltham almost three years ago, I decided to get a new barber because I simply couldn't handle driving that far once a month for a cut. I tested the waters by trying out a few spots and eventually settled on this place where I have now been a few times. Miro the Bulgarian owner is a very nice, friendly guy and his staff is great as well. Cuts are $18 and the lines move pretty quickly. He does occasionally get busy but it's very manageable. There's a few TVs and there's also a pool table in case you get antsy and can't sit still. The staff has given me some of the best haircuts I've ever had and I cannot recommend them enough. read more

My 50 year old husband has been getting his hair cut by the same barber since he was 4. About 3 years ago, his regular barber was out of town, so he walked in to KOCA, and Miro cut his hair. This is where the problem began. He got a great haircut. Miro trimmed all the undesirable hairs on his head (you know what I mean), and shaved the back of his neck. It was the holy grail of haircuts. But he's a loyal guy, so he confesses to his regular barber when he cheats, and only goes to Miro when his regular guy can't fit him in. read more

It didn't seem to be used often anyway although I did when there was a wait. He has two women cutting hair as well. I really don't have enough nice things to say about Miro and his staff. I've been going to Koca for the last 7 years, and not once have I ever had a been experience. It might sound bizarre but they have created a family and community feel at Koca, and its one of the main reasons I keep coming back. That, and you'll never get a bad haircut (no matter how much I like to tease Miro and tell him otherwise). Originally I started going to Koca out of convenience, living within 5 miles of their location. But now that I live over 45 minutes away, in West Roxbury, I continue to go because I don't believe I'll find a better Barbershop, and I thoroughly enjoy my time there. read more

I recently moved to Lexington and needed a new Barber. I tried another shop and was happy enough with the cut and service. I stopped in to Koca this morning and I am convinced I found my new barber. Miro knows how to cut hair. This was the first time I've experienced a hot shave of my neck hair. Although there isn't much it's nice to have it cleaned up. He also knows how to set up a shop. The pool table for use during longer waiting times is a brilliant option to the traditional reading of magazines. I will definitely be back. read more

Believe me, I have tried half of the barbers in this area and there is no one like Miro. He is incredibly professional, friendly, and is very consistent in his hair cutting. I am a very picky guy, and every now and again, I will try someone new but I always come back here, because of all of the above. And now he has a pool table in the shop too! Prices are reasonable and I have never had a better cut. Best of all, they are open until 7....something which I just learned. The unfortunate part is I've walked by this location 1000 times and had no idea it was here! I finally used yelp to find a good place to bring my 21 month old, and read these reviews. I had to use google street view to find it. But once I found it, what a gem! This is a simple, no nonsense place with fantastic hours! We walked in on a Friday night a little before 6 and were seated immediately. This was my little guy's first haircut! He was a little nervous but quickly distracted by Sponge Bob playing on the 2 big TV's. The young barber who cut his hair was quiet and gentle and worked quickly despite the squirming. In the end I can't believe how great my son looks! His hair is thin and fine, but this cut actually looks like a style! Very impressed. We will be back for sure. Well, I hate to be the stick in the mud on this place but tonight was my 3rd time driving in the other direction of home from work only to find the place closed up by 6pm. They are supposed to be open until 7pm. Not sure exactly why they would close an hour early. I could even understand if it was 6:45 and there were no customers. Great barber, I randomly walked in after adding such good yelp reviews. I had the Asian lady, who's same I can't remember.
