I discovered Koala years ago but never went there unfortunately until I was in very bad shape. I had been diagnosed with TMJ over 10 years ago and sleep apnea about 5 years ago. I had tried an oral appliance from my dentist for TMJ and couldn't sleep with it so stopped using it. I had tried a c-pap around 5 years ago but it was an epic fail due to claustrophobia. By the time I came to Koala I couldn't eat from all the swelling in my jaw and I was not sleeping at all, which was causing panic attacks, weakness in my limbs, and much more. I was introduced to Koala Center after taking my best friend there for help with her TMJ & sleep apnea. I knew I had sleep apnea since I have been using a cpap for 3 years but I didn't realize I had TMJ. I discovered the TMJ is why I had daily headaches for years and a few chipped teeth. I also discovered the cpap was causing regular lung infections extremely often. Ive been going to Koala for the past 3-4mo. I have had TMJ for the past 15 years. I've spent a lot of money and time trying to figure this out. After a root canal this past December tho, I went downhill, from keeping my mouth open for so long, I believe. It was constant headaches and neck pain until I talked to someone on a TMJ support group who told me she was getting better after getting an appliance from Koala in Peoria. I made an appt and am so happy that I did. Dr Willey is so passionate about helping his patients life pain free. The minute I sat with him, it was such a relief to feel understood with such empathy. Years ago Dr Willey was at Maple Shades where I first met him. I agree with Lauren H about his puffing and running a scam operation. He added unnecessary procedures to rack up more money. When I asked how much my mouth appliance would cost they said $2,500. They neglected to tell me that that was what I would pay out of pocket, not what it would cost. The true cost was $6,000. What a scam. I would suggest that you ask your trusted dentist for help. Most dentists today can take care of your needs. What Dr Willey does is nothing special. read more

I have sleep apnea and knew I did not want to sleep with a CPAP mask. I saw this advertised on facebook, and decided to make an appointment. Dr Willey goes over the process, and the benefits of his treatment. You do have to get a sleep study from Peoria lung institute which takes time. So that came back showing I have about 40 apneic incidents per hour. After that he takes molds of your teeth and jaw and makes an appliance you wear on your teeth. Long story short, my repeat sleep study showed 7 apneic spells per hour, the accepted normal is 5. So I'm happy with the results!! The whole process took about 8 months. Take every frustration you have had about medical care... feeling rushed, ignored, brushed off, confused, frustrated, anxious... and know that this office is exactly the opposite. When I walked in the door, I felt genuinely welcome and as though the staff enjoys helping their patients. When I left, I felt genuinely grateful to have been there and excited to pursue the next steps of my treatment. The doctor was incredibly thorough in educating me as to why and how my issues were happening, how one situation could lead to a dozen others, and how specifically he was going to help me have relief. I brought my kid in there see if he had a sleep problem and Dr. Willey kept on talking about how he can change lives. I understand that you have confidence, but it seemed more like he was puffing himself up than caring about my child. I mentioned getting him a sleep study and he made it sound like they would tell me the wrong information and he is the only one who can treat him, and started talking about not needing braces which wasn't even what I wanted to discuss since my kid is only 4. I don't know about anyone else but I felt like it was just a scam that cost a lot of money to feed an ego. Do yourself a favor and see an actual sleep doctor for your child, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!! read more
