The gal behind the counter was assisting a gentleman and I found myself paying close attention to the transaction. I'm a hard sell and I was sold! She was so kind and patient as he counted out change to pay. Then worked on gathering his purchase, before setting it aside again to count out a small amount of change to tip her. She was so gracious and I found my mood bumped up a notch or 12. She smiled warmly and greeted me as she rang me up. I left with my $3 in water, a spring in my step and a smile on my face. After speaking to locals the tavern/casino hasn't been open almost all summer long. The 2nd day we asked again about it and all the guy would tell us is it was closed then acted like he didn't understand what I was asking.. Of course while on his phone sitting in the lobby. Woke up the 2nd day went down to get coffee and was told no coffee they had to clean the machine of course they were once again sitting in the lobby on their phones. 3rd morning had to go down to look for someone so we could get towels, 3 days and no house keeping, we had to actually go down and request for our room to be turned down... Well ended up just 1 out of the 5days we stayed there they actually changed our sheets and made the bed... The last 2 days they did bring towels and take out trash but that was it! No mopping no soap or coffee cup replacements.. they just brought towels... they offered wifi and we connected but still had zero service.. This was our anniversary trip and it was ruined sadly by the place we chose to stay... We will not ever make that mistake again! The town is small and options are slim but sleeping in a truck would have been better than staying at the Soda Butte Lodge...

They had lots of slots, a big bar, a room for poker, and of course pool tables. The tables were a little run down (fast greens), but games were cheaper than back home at only a dollar. I got a full order of boneless wings and they were pretty good for bar food. Overall, a decent experience at The Grandstand.
