Excellent menu of appetizers, pizza's, burgers, salads and entrees. Well prepared and served beautifully. The servers are incredibly pleasant and well informed about the menu. Overall it is a quite wonderful restaurant that has a very pleasant ambiance and caters primarily to the gay community! Stellar all around! read more

We've been regular customers of Knock for years and have always enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately, we recently had a disappointing experience. We ordered a drink that we didn't care for and asked if it could be removed from the bill after only a couple of sips. The request was declined, and the interaction became uncomfortable and was handled in a way we felt was disrespectful. When we returned another day, we were told that we would not be served and should go elsewhere. We're disappointed that things ended this way, as we genuinely liked the place and had many good experiences there over the years. read more

I ordered a glass of wine and a salad with chicken. Chicken was burnt black. Inedible. Bartender told me no refunds and no reorders. So I paid $37.00 for a glass of wine. Never again. read more

I had a very reasonably priced pineapple juice at 2.75. No mocktails here sadly. Most people seemed pre-occupied and I didn't fit in with this crowd at all. I was here for an event and it was the tail end. By the time I got my drink, everyone else had left but the event host. I tried to talk with an older gentleman standing by himself and he purposely ignored me, lol. This is sadly what I kind of expect no matter what space I am in. A long time ago, I had food here and I remember not caring for it. Maybe I am too much of a critical foodie or maybe things have changed:w the food. I wasn't hungry and I wasn't with anyone. So I didn't want food for this occasion. Most of the people who frequent this bar don't tend to fit my interests or age group mentality. Those that might be my age or younger had their own cliques. There was one exception by chance from someone I was previously acquainted with. The rating is based on a reasonably priced drink and fast service. The rest of the review gives you an idea of part of the reason why I don't frequent many bars specifically without more of a "purpose " now. read more

Technically a gay bar but very low key. Other than most of the patrons were men, it seemed like a regular restaurant. But it was a Sunday night. Menu was lackluster. Service was slow. But the place was clean. Servers were friendly. read more

Great service and drinks. Food is horribly hit and miss. How do you screw up a pizza?

We were in the gayborhood had dinner here. Everything was great, service was top Notch, food was excellent and the drinks Super tasty. Comfortable seats and it was nice being around our brothers. Just a little loud at times with one group but overall great. Going back. read more

Haven't been here in a few years but new menu leaves a lot to be desired. Regarding the shrimp wrap...when did recooking, thawed already cooked frozen shrimp become acceptable? It isn't!!! It was horrible and when I mentioned it to the waiter he said "do you want to talk to the manager?" Dude...isn't that your job? He thought he did a good job just comping my coffee. Bless his heart...we tipped him because we aren't jerks and the food wasn't his fault but come on.....my husband's dinner was meh... the appetizer of bbq chicken bites was the only good thing this evening. This food at this place has really gone down hill. Sad..for those visiting like us...go elsewhere...the institution has died read more

I went here for dinner on a night out and was very impressed. The drinks were on-point and the cheeseburger with the caramelized onions stole the show. Our server was also very good and attentive to keeping our drinks filled. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant. We really liked the more upscale vibe on the inside which made for an enjoyable dining experience. It's also super walkable to many different bars in the area which is a nice thing. read more

Pizza was great, the service was horrendous. The guy behind the bar was the rudest of them all. Fell off the stool, he didn't care. Went to the bathroom, disgusted by the cleanliness. I will "Never" go back here. read more

Good food, nice people and quick service! The team that runs the restaurant were so kind to my daughter, making her buttered noodles and bringing them out first. My turkey burger was AMAZING and my husbands burger was equally great. We didn't get to drink (early race in the morning) but those looked good too! read more

Stopped here after yoga for a quick lunch. Got a tuna sandwich which was absolutely amazing. Tasted like my mom made it. Fries were the good kind of fries. The food was good but the service was better. Not only was Kenny K attentive and professional, but he was also a delight. Tramble and Cecilia dropped wisdom on me like a dump truck. I learned so much about education, history, politics, culture, and theatre in the one hour I was there. Can't wait to go back and see my new friends! 10/10. Oh also the ambiance was perfection. read more

Where some of the staff is friendly there is clearly a lack in customer service at the bar and honestly it lacks sophistication. I sat at the bar waiting to be served or even acknowledged for 15 mins and the queen decided that I wasn't worth their time. When I approached them and said they had not acknowledged me or served me water after 15 mins of sitting at the bar while they were serving everyone else around me. They suggest they I don't ask them because they were ending their shift there was no reason for them to talk to me and to ask other people working. Mind you no one else was at the bar the entire time I was sitting there waiting to be served. Their lack of attention, dismissing behavior, and customer service was beyond repulsive. It was gratifying knowing I just moved to Philly and this was one of my first experiences at this place to understand it lacks any reason to really go back. This individual clearly worked there for a while and if this is the kind of people they keep around it definitely doesn't deserves anyone's patronage. No amount of respect was given even when advised that there wasn't any initiation to serve me at the bar. This dude deserves to be put in the back if he can't work his full shift without complaint about actually doing his job. He had the longest hair of all the employees so be advised steer clear. And please, if you've got something to say about my comments I'm happy to go back there in person and personally divulged my complaints to you without problem as this was the most horrific experience I've had to endure at any establishment in Philly! read more

Went there last night for some drinks. The bar was crowded so we walked to the hostess station to get a table since 70% of the tables were empty. A very non friendly hostess in sweats told us we could not sit at a table and just drink. So we left. Management needs to figure out what is wrong there. read more

Hit or Miss. tonight was a huge miss. Not expecting the food to be 4* but it should be a good 3. Not even close. Shrimp cocktail. Shrimp was opaque. Fried Calamari in sweet and sour peanut sauce. Loaded with a honey glaze and chili flakes. Kale salad which replaced the shrimp cocktail all wilted. Smash burger turned out to be just two thick cheeseburgers. When waiter asked me how I wanted them cooked I said smash burgers don't have a temperature. He seemed puzzled. So i said rare. They came like hockey pucks. My husband's pizza was hardly cooked. Everything fell off the slice as soon as you picked it up. He kept asking us if we wanted him to tell someone about our meals. So the check came with a 20% discount. He said he spoke to someone and that's all they could do since some of the food was eaten. Honestly last time we ate here a month or so back on a Friday night we were pleasantly surprised how good everything was. Not tonight. Oh well. read more

Knock is located near the Jefferson campus, and has both bar and restaurant area. The interior is classy, and nicely decorated. The bar section has a number of TV's, and seats maybe 50 including some tables near the bar. We went for brunch, and while the service was decent, the food was not great. The eggs in the Benedict were over cooked, and the Canadian bacon was very think and tough. The muffins were whole wheat, which wasn't mentioned in the description. The tea was only lukewarm, and didn't steep. The scrapple was very salty, and just tasted odd. The kale salad was great, except the kale was very thick and tough. While a nice space/bar, and decent service, the kitchen needs some work. read more

Stumbled upon this place while looking for a bar/restaurant on a busy Saturday night. We liked that it didn't look too busy/crowded, and it was clearly an LGBT friendly place. The host was funny and welcoming. The drinks are fabulous here. Very strong martinis for a price you are hard-pressed to find in Philly! The food was okay. Not the best food I've ever had, but not the worst either. The prices definitely took us aback a bit. We had the calamari and the fry plate. I'd come back for a martini, but I don't know if I'd have dinner here again. read more

Despite living in South Philly, Knock is my go-to "neighborhood" bar. Not only do I enjoy the casual atmosphere and eclectic variety of music, but the service as well. The entire staff (especially Howard) always make me and anyone I am with feel welcome - we have never once been made to feel uncomfortable because of our sex or gender-expression. It's the perfect bar to hang out at and unwind after a long day - and I can say with confidence the staff are one of the biggest reasons for that. read more

Upon entry you're welcomed by a sea of friendly faces. Fantastic penne alla vodka & flourless tort! Drinks were well made and a thoughtful variety of breads were offered during their table side service. wait staff is very attentive, food came out quickly and on point. Highly recommend! UPDATE: Came back for a another fabulous Friday! Once again the service was on point, food was phenomenal and drinks were perfectly crafted!!! Compliments to the Chef- the caesar salad w/ salmon was divine and of course the pasta dishes came out perfect. Highly recommend, see you all next Friday @ 8:30 :) read more

We got there about 4:00 so we could get a seat at the bar. There we're plenty of seats so we parked at the bar. It took about 10 minutes to get the attention of the sullen bartender who was more interested in talking with a coworker. We ordered a martini and a white rum Manhattan. The martini was weak and Bill's Manhattan was either rye or not perfect as per Bill's request. No offer was made to correct or check on us despite that the bar was empty. Used to enjoy this bar but a knucklehead bartender convinced me that you cannot go home again read more

Holy moly, considering how classy their interior is, their gargantuan drinks may come as a surprise. (I sure was surprised.) I swear, one drink can easily serve two, possibly three. If you decide to forgo their cocktail hour, there's ample seating for you to wine and dine the (wo-)man of the week, for brunch, lunch, or dinner. And if you decide to forgo cocktails altogether, get yourself an orange juice and cranberry, then grimace if anyone asks what it is. read more

Went here today for my sister in laws birthday. Really nice place. I got the turkey BLT and it wasn't lunch meat. It was thick pieces of turkey. Also the French fries were awesome. Perfectly crispy. Wait staff was extremely attentive. Bathroom was like a sauna. That last thing is not a complaint either. No one likes to go somewhere with a cold bathroom. I swear some of these places keep their bathrooms cold on purpose. I think they want to avoid lines created by someone just sitting in there. So they go out of their way to make the bathroom an uncomfortable experience. Not this place! I went in there multiple times during our lunch. I wasn't disappointed once. The only down side is someone cut the cord on the cappuccino maker. You'll have to stick with regular coffee. read more

Hi Darlings! Hubs and I did an impromptu visit to The City of Brotherly Love last Sunday. We walked here, there, and everywhere (covering *7* miles!) and worked up a bodacious appetite, figuring a nice meal at Knock is in order. We'll ignore the fact that this outing also served as our 15th anniversary dinner (go us!). We've been here a few times before, but it *has* been quite a number of years since our last visit, so this was a highly anticipated experience (after all, we walked 7 miles you know!!). Of course you're interested more in the place itself, so without further ado, let's get down to business. (Oh...hey Jonathan!!) Service is impeccable. No complaints whatsoever. Our server was a lovely guy...very polite and accommodating. The meal itself was well-paced; we didn't experience long wait times between salads and the entrees, nor did the entrees come out while chowing down on the salads...so props there. Everyone we came into contact with was professional as you would expect in a higher-end restaurant. Food: Very good. Just as good as I remember it years back. Drinks: The two Kahlua and Baileys were even better! (hiccup!) Your host was feeling pretty good :) Other: there is a bar area where friends can meet up and enjoy drinks and bar snacks, and there are TV monitors in that area. The dining area is a bit quieter and more intimate. Window seating is available but that typically depends on how busy it is. One thing darlings, is if you're planning to dine here on holidays (like Valentine's Day), a reservation is highly recommended. So there you have it. We definitely look forward to a return. Ciao...TTFN! Your Host. read more

I just left the bar after having had dinner and a drink. After stepping away and using the facility, I came back to find someone else in my seat and my spot entirely cleared. I wasn't finished. TL;DR: Great service, drinks and dessert. Food is hit or miss depending on your selection. Food: Ahi tuna appetizer was a hit. They were out of lobster flatbread (due to a menu change) so we went with Sausage. It was warm. But between the crust and cheese, it had the consistency of frozen pizza. The sausage was good, though. Chicken Piccata was OK. Based on the ingredients, they could have used either a bowl or a plate. They chose the latter and the sauce, while delicious, settled to the bottom of the plate, out of reach of the chicken and pasta. It was actually better the next day as leftovers once it congealed. Stuffed Chicken Breast was excellent. Tasty great combination. Dessert: We had key lime pie and Italian cream cake. Both were delicious. Service: Excellent. Water was kept filled constantly. My visiting family said the bar service and drinks were good. Rolls were refilled too. Return: Since it's a gay bar and I'm not, probably not. read more

i have upside and they were offering $ .17 cashback, which Is how i heard about this place. Found the menu online, & called to place a pickup order. The person I spoke with was rude. This dive does not even deserve one star. Don't ever go to this bar. Not only is the food terrible and overpriced but the manager Howard is the biggest jerk you'll ever speak with. I called and complained about the food we got because the caesar salad was so drenched with dressing that the lettuce was soggy and the portions were ridiculously small for how much the salad cost. Also my girlfriend got calamari that was also a ridiculously small portion for the price. We were told it was too late to exchange the food because the kitchen closed which is absurd. We also did not feel welcome there from the minute we walked in. I called and i told the manager Howard of our experience and he did nothing but give me extremely rude responses and was belittling me the entire time. He hung up on me the first 2 times i called him and the third time he yelled at me on the phone of which i have the phone calls recorded and i am reporting this to the better business bureau because it was incredibly unprofessional. I have literally never had such a terrible experience in my life and my family runs a very creditable restaurant chain and would never ever treat a customer in such a way. This is not how you run a business, the customer is always right and deserves to be heard regardless of when the complaint is made, Howard was actually laughing at me on the phone saying that i was calling too many days after our visit to Knock, I explained to him that the reason i had not called yet was because i was trying to locate the receipt since most businesses will always need an order number to refer to... this guy clearly was just born yesterday and he needs to be reported for his lack of professionalism. I am completely appalled by this and last but not least, this business is absolutely bias towards females, if you are a female and you plan on visiting here dont waste your time because you will be stared at the entire time you're there because apparently only Gay men are allowed here. ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE!!!! read more

Bartenders seem more interested in talking among themselves rather than being attentive to customers. Very poor service given there are three of them. Place has potential but the feel is weird vibe.
