I had a very reasonably priced pineapple juice at 2.75. No mocktails here sadly. Most people seemed pre-occupied and I didn't fit in with this crowd at all. I was here for an event and it was the tail end. By the time I got my drink, everyone else had left but the event host. I tried to talk with an older gentleman standing by himself and he purposely ignored me, lol. This is sadly what I kind of expect no matter what space I am in. A long time ago, I had food here and I remember not caring for it. Maybe I am too much of a critical foodie or maybe things have changed:w the food. I wasn't hungry and I wasn't with anyone. So I didn't want food for this occasion. Most of the people who frequent this bar don't tend to fit my interests or age group mentality. Those that might be my age or younger had their own cliques. I went here for dinner on a night out and was very impressed. The drinks were on-point and the cheeseburger with the caramelized onions stole the show. Our server was also very good and attentive to keeping our drinks filled. Overall, I would definitely return to this restaurant. Where some of the staff is friendly there is clearly a lack in customer service at the bar and honestly it lacks sophistication. I sat at the bar waiting to be served or even acknowledged for 15 mins and the queen decided that I wasn't worth their time. When I approached them and said they had not acknowledged me or served me water after 15 mins of sitting at the bar while they were serving everyone else around me. They suggest they I don't ask them because they were ending their shift there was no reason for them to talk to me and to ask other people working. Mind you no one else was at the bar the entire time I was sitting there waiting to be served. Their lack of attention, dismissing behavior, and customer service was beyond repulsive. It was gratifying knowing I just moved to Philly and this was one of my first experiences at this place to understand it lacks any reason to really go back. This individual clearly worked there for a while and if this is the kind of people they keep around it definitely doesn't deserves anyone's patronage. No amount of respect was given even when advised that there wasn't any initiation to serve me at the bar. This dude deserves to be put in the back if he can't work his full shift without complaint about actually doing his job. He had the longest hair of all the employees so be advised steer clear. Went there last night for some drinks. The bar was crowded so we walked to the hostess station to get a table since 70% of the tables were empty. A very non friendly hostess in sweats told us we could not sit at a table and just drink. So we left. Management needs to figure out what is wrong there. read more

Stopped here after yoga for a quick lunch. Got a tuna sandwich which was absolutely amazing. Tasted like my mom made it. Fries were the good kind of fries. The food was good but the service was better. Not only was Kenny K attentive and professional, but he was also a delight. Tramble and Cecilia dropped wisdom on me like a dump truck. Hit or Miss. tonight was a huge miss. Not expecting the food to be 4* but it should be a good 3. Not even close. Shrimp cocktail. Shrimp was opaque. Fried Calamari in sweet and sour peanut sauce. Loaded with a honey glaze and chili flakes. Kale salad which replaced the shrimp cocktail all wilted. Smash burger turned out to be just two thick cheeseburgers. When waiter asked me how I wanted them cooked I said smash burgers don't have a temperature. He seemed puzzled. So i said rare. They came like hockey pucks. My husband's pizza was hardly cooked. Everything fell off the slice as soon as you picked it up. He kept asking us if we wanted him to tell someone about our meals. So the check came with a 20% discount. He said he spoke to someone and that's all they could do since some of the food was eaten. Knock is located near the Jefferson campus, and has both bar and restaurant area. The interior is classy, and nicely decorated. The bar section has a number of TV's, and seats maybe 50 including some tables near the bar. We went for brunch, and while the service was decent, the food was not great. The eggs in the Benedict were over cooked, and the Canadian bacon was very think and tough. The muffins were whole wheat, which wasn't mentioned in the description. The tea was only lukewarm, and didn't steep. The scrapple was very salty, and just tasted odd. The kale salad was great, except the kale was very thick and tough. While a nice space/bar, and decent service, the kitchen needs some work. read more

Despite living in South Philly, Knock is my go-to "neighborhood" bar. Not only do I enjoy the casual atmosphere and eclectic variety of music, but the service as well. The entire staff (especially Howard) always make me and anyone I am with feel welcome - we have never once been made to feel uncomfortable because of our sex or gender-expression. It's the perfect bar to hang out at and unwind after a long day - and I can say with confidence the staff are one of the biggest reasons for that. read more

Went here today for my sister in laws birthday. Really nice place. I got the turkey BLT and it wasn't lunch meat. It was thick pieces of turkey. Also the French fries were awesome. Perfectly crispy. Wait staff was extremely attentive. Bathroom was like a sauna. That last thing is not a complaint either. No one likes to go somewhere with a cold bathroom. I swear some of these places keep their bathrooms cold on purpose. I think they want to avoid lines created by someone just sitting in there. So they go out of their way to make the bathroom an uncomfortable experience. Not this place! I went in there multiple times during our lunch. I wasn't disappointed once. The only down side is someone cut the cord on the cappuccino maker. You'll have to stick with regular coffee. read more

TL;DR: Great service, drinks and dessert. Food is hit or miss depending on your selection. Food: Ahi tuna appetizer was a hit. They were out of lobster flatbread (due to a menu change) so we went with Sausage. It was warm. But between the crust and cheese, it had the consistency of frozen pizza. The sausage was good, though. Chicken Piccata was OK. Based on the ingredients, they could have used either a bowl or a plate. They chose the latter and the sauce, while delicious, settled to the bottom of the plate, out of reach of the chicken and pasta. It was actually better the next day as leftovers once it congealed. Stuffed Chicken Breast was excellent. Tasty great combination. Dessert: We had key lime pie and Italian cream cake. Both were delicious. Service: Excellent. Water was kept filled constantly. My visiting family said the bar service and drinks were good. Rolls were refilled too. Return: Since it's a gay bar and I'm not, probably not. read more

This dive does not even deserve one star. Don't ever go to this bar. Not only is the food terrible and overpriced but the manager Howard is the biggest jerk you'll ever speak with. I called and complained about the food we got because the caesar salad was so drenched with dressing that the lettuce was soggy and the portions were ridiculously small for how much the salad cost. Also my girlfriend got calamari that was also a ridiculously small portion for the price. We were told it was too late to exchange the food because the kitchen closed which is absurd. We also did not feel welcome there from the minute we walked in. I called and i told the manager Howard of our experience and he did nothing but give me extremely rude responses and was belittling me the entire time. He hung up on me the first 2 times i called him and the third time he yelled at me on the phone of which i have the phone calls recorded and i am reporting this to the better business bureau because it was incredibly unprofessional. I have literally never had such a terrible experience in my life and my family runs a very creditable restaurant chain and would never ever treat a customer in such a way. Ok, hands down this place has some of the nicest servers and best customer service you'll get. We just tried Knock for brunch today and were raving the whole time about how great the service was. Our cup wasn't empty a single time. The prices were awesome too. My husband and I got two Knock burgers and coffee for under 30 bucks. Rare. The food was really good. I should have ask for mine a bit more done but that was my fault. Other than that, everything rocked. Visited Knock for the first time this evening with a large group of colleagues and it was a fair experience. Located in a historic district, Knock is one of several local businesses and shops. My party consisted of fifteen (15) professionals, all with eclectic palettes. The menu has several different options ranging from seafood, burgers, and pastas. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food. You'll notice several different food options via the pictures I upload. Personally, I ordered the jumbo crab cake, as an appetizer and seafood alfredo. The jumbo crab cake, came on a bed of warm spinach and a tomato based sauce. The crab cake was not jumbo and was okay. The consistency of the crab cake was not to my liking, nor was its firmness and taste. Overall, for the cost, it wasn't worth the value. The seafood Alfredo consists of scallops, cod fish, and shrimp. I asked could the pasta only be shrimp and the restaurant was able to accommodate that. I was very impressed with my waitperson's follow-up to ensure that I got what I wanted. Unfortunately, the Alfredo sauce was watery and the shrimp seemed boiled. Overall, it was eatable, but not on my list of favorite dishes. Several of my colleagues ordered the NY Strip, medium well, and some of their orders can me back rare. Rare to the point that we had to send it back. Overall, the staff was friendly, the food was average, but I enjoyed the company of my colleagues in their large dining area.
