There are a friendly bunch and make you feel at home, almost too much as i was eager to set this place up as my residence. We were shown around and i have to say i will be trying the aroma sauna and the manicure/ pedicure and after that the mud treatment room! I got this on the "Spring into Summer" offer which includes 2 mini (30mins) treatments and afternoon tea. You could use the spas facilities after too. It's totally worth the £80 offer. The afternoon tea was delightful and tasty and it was a filing spread. Both treatments I choose were totally relaxing - mini facial (which i received the "rose" cleaning, exfoliating and scalp massage) and Back,Neck and shoulders Massage. I will be putting this down as a number one on my christmas list if any is stuck for presents either for my birthday or christmas! (They do gift vouchers too!!) This place is special. The thing that will prevent me from returning though was getting my back and clothing absolutely soaked when having my hair washed. I phoned up few weeks before to book a massage & facial session then about 4 hours later, I received an email from the hotel concierge saying he could book things for us - including the spa with 10% off!!! Arghhhhhhh a discount!!! But the spa terms & conditions state I would lose money if I cancelled (so I could ask the concierge to rebook it with discount!) so we left it. The spa is lovely, reception is like a shrine to the guerlain products, there is a waiting room though quite small and they only had one toilet which seemed to be used by someone changing in there! We had got changed in our bedrock and put on the dressing gown n slippers that were in my room. First we had a foot spa, it was great, relaxing and lovely! Then we got taken to the treatment room where we had massage & facial. It was great!!! One of the best!! It is expensive but if you sign up to their mailing list, the hotel send out offers. I didn't book one of those but off the spa menu. We signed for it to the hotel then I told her the story bout the concierge offering me a discount after I'd already booked! The receptionist said 'why didn't you say!!' And reversed the charge and applied the discount! Awww so sweet!!! If you are in Edinburgh and wanting a beauty treatment or spa time - you are allowed to use the gym n pool too, I recommend spoiling yourself!!

You have your main lodge which is where the restaurant, bar, banquet room and so on. Then there's the chalet just behind. Large family size as well as single pods. The grand staircase inside right by the check in. We came for a wedding during the weekend. Most guest had reserved the main lodge, bridal party. But since there was a couple of us, we opted for the large three bedroom chalet with hot tub. Two story, cabin with kitchen. But right outside the back, construction was going on. Looked like they were building another one. But what was on the down fall, we had prepaid deposits for the property a while back. When it was time to check out, we found out that we were still charge the full amount. Not just us but a couple of other guest as well. Staffing seemed short of as trying to talk to someone's was a stretch of its own. As well as for breakfast. Came down before it ended. Even within 45 min of ending, they were already starting to take things away. For the price we paid for the cabin, we thought it included the breakfast. Well, that wasn't the case. Waitress told us that it wasn't which we didn't mind paying. But, of course found out later that they also charge us again when we checked out. Paid cash at the restaurant and the card that the room was under was also charged for it. Property is beautiful, but staffing isn't quite on par. They need to get their management and booking together or else there's going to be lots of complaints. Most review for this property would probably be on booking.com as Yelp isn't big in the uk. Just like the other review, they were charge twice just like a lot of us that weekend for the wedding.

This is quite apparent when you drive up the long driveway to get to the hotel. The rooms are spacious, even the wee room, that has a rather large bathroom/shower room attached to it. The personell was very nice, but for the fact that the hotel is booked out all the time, I feel they are slightly understaffed at peak times. This became apparent when the breakfast took ages to be served in the morning. The person on duty did his utmost best to keep everyone happy. House service, not so happy with: shower gel missing, no toothbrush cup and someone tried to enter my room early morning without knocking. Not to mention the hotel tried to charge me again for the room, even already paid ! Overall, yes I would go back, but hopefully next time the room service will be a bit more attentive.

A substantial amount of thermal/water amenities, all of which feel very sanitary/maintained. I wish I was able to schedule a massage - however, it is completely understandable I couldn't squeeze in an appointment the day of. I felt completely relaxed after my appointment! My only note is that the aroma mist in the salt room did not seem to work (this may have been user error). Additionally one of the showers in the locker room was not in service. Definitely recommend booking here if you are looking for a relaxing day!

Mind you they can be quite pricey, but this has all got to do with the image their trying to project, as well as the various treatments they offer. As usual I haven't heard of most of them, but was particularly curious about the rainforest shower. Thankfully, I have a friend who has actually been to the Amazon (they come in REALLY handy!) and basically it's a room with showerheads all over the ceiling, so it seems as though it's raining in the room. Ofcourse if you'd rather just have a facial and a massage, they do that as well. They've got two pools, one of which is thermal, and a gym for those who'd rather "feel the burn" than relax, though I'd rather get in the sauna when there's that alternative.
