The Knitting Factory is a cool venue for a show. It's two-story so there's plenty of room; however, if you don't get there on time, it might be hard to 'see' because it fills up pretty quickly. Our group was sub-5'7/5'8" and had we been ~15 mins later, I think we would've had trouble seeing the act, because the downstairs 'gallery' was packed and upstairs quickly filled up behind us. I didn't deal with anyone being belligerent, annoying, etc. -- nothing outside of normal concert 'stuff.' It's cool and in a chill spot in downtown/doesn't seem sus - I would go back, depending on the show. read more

Pros: Midsize venue. Wide variety of music. Fairly clean. Cons: Layout. Organization. Always seems over capacity. The sound seems to always be horrible. Overall vibe is a "meh" for me. There's way worse venues out there and many better ones. Also, parking can get a bit crazy, especially if there's multiple events going on downtown, so plan ahead and arrive early if needed. read more

Caught the master of her craft and jack of all things music Tash Sultana there and gotta say idc hiw bad i had to pee i wasnt leaving that spot. This location is not very large but it makes for a more intimate concert experience. They have "will call" and the ability to have tickets mailed to you for those who do not want an internet based ticket. The venue has good doubt, a full bar, and balcony. It is perfect for seeing bands who are up and coming, established with smaller loyal following, or been aroubd for years with devoted small following. You can also rent out the venue for events. read more

I bought tickets for a show here last week. My family and I were so excited to come as I had only been here for one other show years ago. As we were going into the venue, we found out that vape pens were not allowed inside the venue. My niece had her vape pen and told the girl working security for the event. The girl told my niece that she could set her vape pen inside the lobby and get it after the show. A lot of people set their vape pens aside in the lobby under the impression that they could get them after the show. Despite the overpriced drinks and too many people in the venue, we had a great time listening to the show. After the show was over, my niece went to the lobby to get her vape pen along with several others who wanted theirs back. They were told that the venue collected all of them and threw everything away during the show. The teens were all confused and upset. The guy who had closed off the lobby said that, "Isaiah" threw them all away and none of them should have been told that they could get them afterwards. Isaiah wouldn't come out to talk to the group so the guy suggested we write a Yelp review. This vape pen had sentimental value to my niece who's had a pretty rotten summer and start to her senior year. The lack of concern shown to the guests by the venue leadership team is disappointing and frustrating. Please show some compassion and love towards others who spent a lot of money at your venue. Every day the knitting factory becomes a better place to see live music. Since they re-opened after COVID they have added a new sound system, awesome lighting, and have upgraded the bar/restaurant SERIOUSLY! I saw GWAR in October and it was a RIOT! I've been to my fair share of concert venues and my overall impressions is "decent." There was nothing that really stood out about the venue. It's multi leveled and has a pit so anyone who wants to go crazy can. The sound quality is solid, security was very friendly and fun to talk to, and the bartenders were solid too. They do like to pack the venue like a can of sardines so you can't move around easily, but nonetheless, I still managed to have a decent time. Attended the Shaky Graves concert at the Spokane Knit. They have recently installed a section of tables to be reserved at the time tickets are purchased. As I was buying tickets to include my pregnant daughter in law, I thought a table would be really nice. So in addition to the tickets at 43.97 a piece, the table was $73.97. Not too bad for a table seating four. Here's the catch- they are charging that amount PER PERSON!!! The website is misleading; there is one notice about the tables when you first go on the site. And at that amount, one would think it was for the whole table. Mind you, these tables are small- maybe 13 inches x13 inches! It is crowded and chairs are just basic chairs. SOOOO....for 4 people this concert with a small table would be $471.76!!!! Over $100 a piece! Artists who play there are great, but let's be reasonable- that is a complete rip off!!! Also they need to make it abundantly clear that it is PER PERSON- maybe when you go to check out or when you purchase that first ticket to the table. Consequently what happened to us was that we were admitted to the table area, sat down and then had 3 other people come up and say that was their table (yes, so if you don't have a party of 4, you are sitting with strangers). I didn't want to leave my daughter in law at the table, nor did she particularly want to sit there with people she didn't know. So we left the table to the 3 of them and stood for the remainder of the concert. I will say that the employees who were working were sympathetic to our situation. They told us this is the way they do it at the Boise Knitting Factory- and that there is often confusion over the tables there, too. Management should either go back to "first come, first served" philosophy on tables or make the table a one and done purchase at a more reasonable rate. This is the second time I've been to this location. It's not bad inside. But if you plan on going to a concert during the summer. Better come prepared of lack of air conditioning. I had to girls around me almost ready to pass out because of how hot it got into the place. Security there was no help at all. The venue had a sold out crowd but couldn't make people comfortable. Cool venue. Has the old big easy vibe to it, although it's not called that anymore. I like the different areas of the balcony and the bathrooms are clean. The bars are well organized and you can get in and and get your drink pretty quickly without long lines. Doors opened at 7 and that was just the outside doors, the inside doors were left closed to us almost an hour. That was pretty disappointing. People were left standing, hot, sweaty, getting riled up. The music was good. I was able to get a decent place to stand close to the stage. While the music was good, I received multiple charges on my card for purchases I didn't make that didn't post until 2 days after the concert. I'm aware of what I bought, and at $20 a drink, it's not like you can get too many of them. Odd charges started to pop up, and that didn't make sense for the drinks I purchased. $62 and $30 were not spent here, yet I was falsely charged. Shady business practices or sneaky bartenders. I never even had an open tab, either. Will not be going back. I'd rather drive to Seattle to avoid the long drink lines and tiny venue. read more

I want to preface this review with saying I've been to thousands of concerts, many where I've been physically and sexually assaulted. The Knitting Factory has NEVER been an unsafe space, and I think it's really important that people know this. I've attended shows at the Knitting Factory multiple times, and the staff has always been extremely kind and courteous. I am disabled, and Ed, along with the rest of security, have always been extremely helpful. It sucks to be disabled, and navigate a show in wheelchair, but security has always been incredibly helpful without looking down on me (which is important as a disabled person). I also want to note how lovely staff was with my husband, whose blood sugar frequently plummets. It's a testament to how great the ENTIRE STAFF is. I also want to give sincere thanks to how wonderful they were when my sister was alive. It is rough being in a wheelchair, dying a slow and painful death, and they treated her with dignity and compassion, and were genuinely very helpful. Spokane is really very lucky to have such a nice venue, with great staff. The shows are always beautifully put together, it's a safe space and well secured, and everyone working is really helpful. When you've been to shows with thousands, and shows with just five people, over the course of 25 years, I think I can say with some measure of authority that the Knitting Factory is an excellent venue. read more

Venue has a much more intimate layout which I could see being an issue if they were to allow more people than what were there when we went. We went to see the Magic City Hippies and our experience was excellent. I'm not sure why people felt the need to leave negative reviews. If you have a negative encounter with a bouncer, it is probably warranted as we only experienced pleasant interactions with them. The bar/food is definitely overpriced but it's that way at all venues. Side note; I don't know where anyone would have smelled piss. Maybe the bathroom? read more

This review is pertinent to patrons needing reasonable accommodations for this venue. I had a show that was switched to this venue. Having purchased ADA seating in the other venue, I wanted to ensure this venue would honor my accommodation needs related to access to a seat. Although the communication process with the general manager regarding accommodations was simple, the staff on hand day-of had a very difficult time honoring the accommodation and understanding its purpose and need. I and others in my position needed to reiterate several times throughout the process the instructions we had been provided and why we required them. (Primarily this involved early entry so we had guaranteed access to seats in the largely standing-room only venue.) This accommodation was not honored until after general entry had been initiated. Even when our "ADA group" (as we were called) were allowed in (by means of bypassing metal detectors and bag checks, which is very unsafe), there were several different points in the process where different staff pushed back on our accommodation. The accommodation was eventually honored, but the rigorous process involved in this simple accommodation was very disappointing, and the apparent lack of training by staff was disheartening. Further, I did not see any way for an individual using a wheelchair to access the area with seats due to the stairs required to enter this area. (Staff did not provide any other route of entry.) If any prospective patrons require accommodations for shows at Knitting Factory, especially patrons using wheelchairs, I would suggest they consider a different venue for their entertainment purposes; or otherwise come prepared to face untrained staff who evidently do not understand what accommodations are and why they are needed. read more

Soooo many things could be improved here. First of all, it's super hard to find the entrance. The main entrance was closed with no signs directing people where to go. There are no signs what so ever!! No re-entry, no outside area for fresh air or smoking. You can't smoke marijuana or even vapes! Security will kick you out for vaping. Drinks are expensive and long lines. It gets super hot and you can't even go outside for fresh air. The only good thing about this venue is it's small so you can see the artists close up. read more

Never going back. It's all general audience so that makes it Lord of the Files. If you don't come early you don't get to see anything. People are VERY territorial of their spots. A grown man thought my husband and I were blocking his view and pushed us out of the way. A man was standing on the hand railing and several security guards walked by and said nothing. This is the only venue of its size and style in Spokane, so you'll have to suffer spending a few hours there to watch some really fantastic bands. Because you can't bring drinks down to the floor, people hang out in the bar and talk loudly. It's obnoxious. If you happen to find yourself wandering back there to grab a drink, be prepared to get knocked down by a wall of the most pungent urine smell. It's like you stuck your head inside of a steaming hot urinal and it wafts all the way to the floor. Perhaps the smell is coming from the damp and squishy carpet in the bar? Are the restrooms so bad that everyone is relieving themselves on the carpet? Honestly, probably. TLDR; it's sticky, damp, smells like pee, the bar is loud, and we are stuck with it until something better comes along. read more

I've been to a LOT of sh*t places for concerts. I've stood in mud. I've stood in dust. I've stood in old drink residue. I've stood in unknown disgustingness. This girl loves a good concert so I'll stand pretty much anywhere-- however, standing in disgustingness always leaves a memory in my head about that show: "oh yeah, _____, I saw him at _____, the floor was so sticky." I was very pleasantly surprised that the Knitting Factory had a nice clean, clear, free of debris floor. I don't know why a place that serves alcohol would have carpet but whatever, man. I found this venue to be a good spot. There are many levels for a lot of viewing which is very cool. Being floor level sometimes means someone way taller than you blocks your view the entire show. There were enough options and space where I was able to move if anyone got in my way. Drinks are normal venue prices, expensive but reasonable for an event venue. Bathrooms were clean enough. I'll start with the acoustics- they were garbage. Saw the Offspring; I know their songs, they are some of my favorite songs and I had trouble recognizing them it was so garbled. A fifth grade performance of Hot Cross Buns in the gymnasium sounds better. Seriously one of my favorite bands might as well have been playing on a plastic toy guitars. Just awful. When I go to a live performance I expect a certain standard, this was rock bottom. Another issue- long lines and late start. Doors open at 7:00 and show at 8:00, but the Offspring didn't get onstage until after 9:00. After paying $50+ and waiting almost two hours, the music was a major let down. Keep the good memories and don't create shitty new ones at this club. read more

The Knitting Factory is absolutely the worst concert venue in Spokane and I refuse to support it for sooo many reasons. I love music. I love going to concerts, and I used to go to shows here when it was The Big Easy. Things seemed different then... now? Bouncers put their hands on you, which is highly inappropriate!!! They treat you like shit and they are rude. There is no rhyme or order to the way they do anything. Doors always open late. Did i mention staff is RUDE AND HIGHLY INNAPROPRIATE? Everything is extremely disorganized. One of the worst parts about this place is they leave water out on the counters, unsupervised, in pitchers. Me, understanding anyone could just put something in the waters without an oblivious and stupid employee noticing, I asked one of the "bartenders" for a water from behind the bar. He told me to "go get a water from the pitcher". I explained to him I felt more comfortable with my request rather than doing that, and he did not get me a water and was extremely rude to me!! They also have verrry expensive drinks. DO NOT support this place by any means! I've passed up many concerts here simply because this place just sucks, man. $&!@ the Knit. read more

The young people who like getting close and pushed around in mobs hang down below and the ones that are older and can't put themselves through that anymore (me) hang in the VIP lounge upstairs. It's a nice lounge but the food is gross - if you order fries they're bathed in garlic. Awesome staff. The place is ok. The Knitting Factory is just OK. If a band I really liked was playing there (or anywhere), of course I would see them. However, The Knitting Factory has a less-than-ideal setup. Here are a couple of my naggatory complaints about them: - You can't be close to the band and drink alcohol at the same time. There is an "upper" level where you can buy drinks, but you can't take them down onto the floor. Want to sip a beer a couple feet from the band? Not going to happen here, not gonna happen. - Speaking of alcohol, the selection quite frankly sucks. This is the freakin' NW, give me some microbrews! The closest thing they have is Redhook ESB which is distributed by A.Busch and is mediocre at best. - Again, the alcohol. It's served in plastic cups, classy. This would make sense if you were allowed to get within striking distance of the band but...as I have noted, you can't. - Like many venues, the alcohol is pricey. - Strict camera policies are enforced. Would I see a show here again? Of course. However, this would never be my "go-to" venue. read more

A while back, I was up visiting Spokane right around the time of that big Gorge concert that happens every May. I set my son up with pizza and a movie in our hotel room and wanted to go see some shows. Since Spokane is far enough away from the Gorge Amphitheater, many great bands can go into Idaho and around Spokane and play shows without getting into Gorge contractual issues. I got lucky when I stumbled upon the Knitting Factory because I have been to several shows in San Diego at smaller, more intimate clubs and that's the way I like it. So I have no problem with size here. What I didn't appreciate was that when I was dancing to The Hives, a creepy guy was trying to snap photos with his cell phone of the exalted area beneath my dress. I caught this perv red-handed and spent the rest of the evening holding down my dress and slip and thankful I had undies on. I won't hold that against the place. It is very friendly at the Knitting Factory. No big deal for performing bands to venture out on the floor and hang with you in the bar area. The Hives lead singer even came around outside and lit my cigarette when I was getting some fresh air. All together, I liked the Knitting Factory just fine and I hope that Spokane appreciates this fine venue that attracts some really great music to their beautiful area. read more

The district bar is connected to the concert house and you will get preferred seating if you grab dinner before the concert and we all know how fun it is to stand for 3 hours while watching some lady wail in the acoustic guitar. alright here's the deal. the experience was fantastic. the only reason this is a one star review is because I had pepper spray on me for protection, I always keep it on my keys. I get to the front of the line (the line that wraps all the way around the building) and they say I can't bring it in. Someone running the security says to put it up on the top edge of these windows right in the hall, and when I said if they'd keep it they said yes until end of the show. me and friends get done and ask security, another girls already there asking for her things. Turns out security threw the 'out of the way things' out. In a trash compactor. they said they actually weren't allowed to keep stuff and threw it out after telling us we could. I wanna bring awareness. the knitting factory should've kept it for us until the end like they said at the very least, not thrown away shit, or have been telling people in the line the metal things you can't bring in and not wait until people are at the front of the line. read more

For the Love of Music. You're the only concert venue in Spokane that can host smaller shows with standing room for larger artists. Your sound is always just TERRIBLE blown out nastiness. Yes, people are talking and being loud. You make it a thousand times worse by making it necessary for everyone to YELL over the music blasting. Get better speakers, get better sound guys, I don't know what technically y'all need to do but do something! Someone will eventually rise up and make a better venue and then nobody will want to work with you. Right now you're a joke in Spokane and everyone begrudgingly attends events there, but when the time comes we will all happily never set foot inside that building again. read more

Everything about the Knitting Factory could be awesome; the location, the layout and the experience for music fans has the potential to be among the best concert venues in all of the inland northwest. Unfortunately, abysmal management creates a terrible experience for music fans. And the worst part, the managers of the Knitting Factory just don't care. After my experience at the May 9th Flogging Molly show, I will be voting a hearty "no" with my wallet. The doors were advertised to be open at 6:30 PM. The exterior doors were indeed opened but we were herded like cattle into a narrow hallway where we waited for approximately 40 minutes to get into the actual venue. My thought was, "get all these people into the venue where they can buy food and drinks," thus maximizing profit for the Knitting Factory. Alas, this was the first sign of trouble; the Knitting factory managers do not give a shiznitt about it's patrons having a good experience. A Patron Services manager, later identified as Ed Richardson, yelled an advisory notice at the waiting crowd, "Just know, at this show you will be touched!" What? I'm not a mosh pit kind of guy. I'm looking to watch a concert - am I going to be assaulted? Is the show over-sold? Why does the Knitting Fctory only tell me this AFTER I've purchased my tickets? Once inside, my party of two grabbed a table, sat down and looked forward to getting the festivities started. We wanted to order food, which is advertised by the Knitting Factory as available inside the concert area. Sadly, there was just one waitress for hundreds of people. We tried to order from the bar but we were told, "Look for the girl in the red hat - she's your waitress." We did not receive a visit from the Girl in the Red Hat but sought her out by the register. I placed an order with the Girl in the Red Hat and she said, "If your food doesn't show up in 30 minutes, come find me." I had to pre-pay for this potentially elusive meal, which made me uneasy. My concern was warranted, as the meal showed up 45 minutes later and quite cold. I asked for refund for the substandard meal and that was refused. We ultimately tried to just settle in and enjoy the show but people were permitted to stand all around our table, blocking our view of the stage. So, we couldn't sit down at our table and watch the show, and couldn't stand up for fear of losing our table. Seriously? No paper towels in the bathrooms, extremely over-priced drinks and an overriding attitude amongst the Knitting Fctory's employees of, "If you don't like it, I don't care." Given all the problems, we simply left the show before even seeing Flogging Molly. On our way out, we encountered Ed Richardson again. He asked why we were leaving and we explained it was simply the sub-par guest experience. He stated, as a consumer, he also likes to know that his dollar is being spent wisely. He handed me his card and said goodbye. Given all of these experiences, especially considering the ticket and drink prices, I can only state that I will never again attend a concert at the Knitting Factory. (I'd actually appreciate a refund, as well.) I recommend others find a different venue to patronize, as well. read more

I feel like this place is becoming a joke. We showed up early so we could grab decent seats, waited in line for 45 minutes for their staff to open the doors (late), and ended up with a bunch of people cutting ahead of us because Patron Services don't use anything to structure lines. They also have super limited seating, and rarely do anything with assigned seating. If you can't grab their limited prime seating at the front rails, good luck actually seeing the stage. It's like a blind person designed this. I highly doubt I can bring myself to do another concert here when I can't even see the act. read more

Damn. Nice Job, Spokane. We showed up as a big group to the place next door- the mix 916 or something and that, I wouldn't recommend as much (see that review) but this space was fantastic. The catwalk/balcony all around was a great seat, as were the tables in the 21+ area, lots of bathrooms, drinks were reasonably priced and once I gave a good tip, strong as hell. Show was amazing, that didn't hurt (thanks, Hell's Belles, you rocked my world) but overall, one of the best venues I've been lately to see a show. This place used to named The Big Easy. It's a big deal in Spokane. Nationally touring bands normally show up there a day before or after they play Seattle, as a warm up/cool down. Example: The day before Social Distortion came to Seattle in 2004, they played an impromptu show here. So spur of the moment that Spokompton wasn't even listed on the list of cities their tour stopped in. One other sweet piece of trivia: The Pixies first reunion show in the USA occurred here. People from Europe paid well over $1,000 for tickets on E-bay plus travel to come to the show. I tried to get tickets, but it sold out in three and a half minutes. Nimrods! It's got a ton of floor space, has two different bars on the its two levels, and still gets the biggest non-arena filling acts in the city of Spokane. Most of the shows are 21+ although they do occasionally have all ages as well. They book a large variety of acts, from comedians to death metal to indie rock type stuff. If you're looking for the hippest most popular venue in Spokane, this is it. Don't go expecting to knit, though. It's kind of a stupid name change. read more

My fiance and I went there on Friday night to see a show and once we realized we got in we realized there was no re entry. They should have made that clear at the entrance but they did not. Not until we tried to leave for coffee at the Davenport (cuz the openers sucked) did we realize that we were stuck if we wanted to see the headliner. They said the reason they wont allow re entry is because people come back totally drunk off their asses and are unruly. My suggestion is why not take each person returning on a case by case basis? Like, how about NOT letting them back in if they are obviously drunk? I don't know, I can kind of understand this but still man. Im a grown freaking woman. Another complain is that the balcony is now closed. They said the reason is because lots of illegal druggy activity went on up there and it was uncontrolled. Well people, how about hiring about five new employees to keep an eye on the balcony? Or add more backlighting to deter the wackos? We got to the show and there was not any sitting area available. Total BS. The staff are rude to boot. The pepsi was watered down. That is all. read more

Probably the best venue concert venue in Downtown but drink prices are over-inflated for the area and the bar staff has a difficult time keeping a large line queued appropriately. Security does a great job at keeping everyone safe and I never felt at-risk during any shows that I attended. I have seen many shows here and always had fun with my friends, on and off stage. But after a REALLY bad experience at the Snoop concert, I will never go back On the Snoop concert, keep in mind this was all on a weeknight: The show was advertised to start at 9pm and no opener was shown on the ticket or advertising. At 9:30pm an opener comes on, someone I've never heard of, and were off stage by 10pm. Everyone then stood there for an hour-and-a-half staring at an empty stage! Security had no idea what the hold-up was and when I asked to speak with the house manager, I was told they were not there and I was shocked that the manager was not present for such a large show. When I attempted to contact management, multiple times, I received no reply. The absolute lack of caring from management is why I will never go back to this venue, regardless of the show. They know they are the only small and decent venue in town and have a big head about it. Club 412 has the potential to be a good competing, although smaller, venue. read more

Made it here to see a hip hop show recently (Tech N9ne!!!! ...ok, sorry). This was an ok place. Man, maybe it was the crowd, or the show, but I felt old in here. Lots of kids, testosterone, and craziness. Most of it was alright though, but I felt on edge most of the time. I kept on thinking a fight would break out, so I was in Terminator/Robocop mode keeping an eye out for trouble. A couple of fights broke out; the biggest one was to big girls right next to where we were--interesting. This venue was decent. It was a little loud--I forgot to bring my earplugs (my ears rang for the next day--I've been to worse---try Chop Suey's in Seattle). There is a balcony. It was a mixed-aged crowd. There were the under-21's and the over-21's were tagged (wrist bands). The opening bands were alright. I liked that there was a Native hip hop group. The Knit has all of the proper attributes to be a five star venue. The location is close, but not too close to the highway. There are good pregame spots very close by (shout out 24 taps!) The venue itself is a pretty good looking building on the inside and the concert area is conducive to rocking out while being able to egress freely to the bar. The Knit brought in ALICE IN CHAINS! They got the stuff to hold a band such as that effectively without burning down. What I hated about this place where the people. Ooh boy... What do you almost always have to do in public? Wait in line some where. Big deal. I waited in line while so called rock gurus pissed and moaned about not getting into the concert floor on time, failing to realize we were actually inside the building early. I don't need a human cigarette telling me how the last show he saw here was way better. I then go to the T-Shirt place to get that business done. I know the prices are always outrageous, so I won't even go there. But the guy said "our machines are down". Really? Bullshit. I was close to the front of the whole crowd. The one time and for the only one purpose that machine needed to work, and it's gonna go down. Are you sure you're not just an imbecile that operate a CC machine? So now everyone in the place has to pay cash for their merch. And how many people have to wait in line for the shitty ATM with the convenient surcharge? Really though, fuck you. Just be straight up about it. Say we are cash only. Be a man. So I get to my spot I'm going to hold down for the show...on the railing behind the floor. I'm in the front row of the raised area in front of the bar. The opener goes on and I'm immediately being rained down upon with beer by some drunk dickhead on the balcony. It happened a bunch of times and it wasn't a small amount of beer either. It got to the point that a guy I was standing next to went up there to have words with them after his wife got spilled on. Did it stop? Did they maybe pull their beer in from over the railing? No. They just kept on spilling on us, and by this time the place was packed and these were the best spots we could get. I'm with my family by the way, other wise I would have been on the floor. I'm not afraid to sweat it out and be close to strangers in the pit, but when I'm chilling and trying to enjoy the show, I don't need a beer shower. What do people do at concerts? Yes, sing along with their favorite songs. So that's what I did. But then I had the push-broom Ned Flanders mother fucker standing next to me plugging his ears and telling me I can't sing. A) Fuck you. Listen to the band and mind your own business. B) I know I can't sing. Thanks for the late breaking news. There's a reason I'm in the crowd and not on stage. Worry about yourself and watch the show, don't worry about me...shithead. Anyway, the show itself was great. Alice in Chains is amazing and the production as a whole was great. Venue staff was on point, the crews were good, and the venue held up fine. I guess my main problem were the people. I already didn't like Spokane to begin with, but it had been a few years and was looking forward to giving in another try. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. The show itself was the only redeeming quality to the whole experience, which is the whole point I suppose...But I'd rather not ever go back to that Knitting Factory and more importantly Spo-Compton again. read more
