However, the thing this location really excels in is customer service. The staff here are great at identifying the difference between browsing and hopelessly lost. Today I was looking for supplies for a craft that took me all over the store and I had not one, not two, but three different staff members help me find what I needed. Seriously impressed. The same goes for checkout: the staff are always helpful with coupons and suggestions. I've never had anything but great service here. The reason for 4 stars rather than 5? Mostly corporate issues that I understand this location can't change. Michaels is terrible for making you feel ripped off with their constant coupons. Obviously everything is incredibly marked up. NEVER go there without a coupon. They almost always have one for at least 40% off a single item. Sometimes they even have ones that cover your whole transaction.

Cassey, the manager, of Micahel's is amazing. My grandson was taking his helium balloon home for…read morehis birthday and it had not been tied on properly by the store clerk, so the balloon flew into the air before my grandson could get it in the house. He immediately burst into tears. So I returned to the store with only the clip that the balloon had been tied onto, explaining what had happened. The original store clerk who had tied the balloon onto the clip said I would need to buy another balloon. I asked to speak to the manager. When Cassey came out, she said "Pick three balloons to replace the one that got away." She then proceed to fill them all with helium, tie them tight together, and when I took them home to my grandson, he was more than delighted. A very big thank to Cassey who has made a little boy very happy. Great customer service. Will definitely recommend to all.

Today was a total letdown at Michael's. I bought a Christmas tree online, picked it up, and…read morerealized it wasn't what I expected. No big deal, right? Their own website says "If your Michaels.ca purchase does not meet your satisfaction, you may return it within two months (60 days) of purchase. To return an item, the item must be new, unused and in its original packaging. You may return the item to a Michaels store or by mail." So I went to the store... and the sales associate was making up stuff about us not being able to return the product because it was opened and flat-out refused to take it back. No real explanation, no effort to help, nothing. And she said "oh that's why we have displays!" And I'm like, we bought it online! It doesn't matter if you have displays. Just a hard "no," even when I pointed out their policy. It felt dismissive and completely unprofessional. If a store can't stand behind the policies they advertise, why should anyone trust them? The corporate says one thing and the store implement something else. This whole thing was a waste of time, money, and holiday spirit. I won't be shopping here again.
