I shopped here while I was in town visiting. It has all the hallmarks of a great local yarn store; personable staff, great selection, and a huge variety. I was really pleased to get some Knitting for Olive in the US, since I don't like to pay international shipping for it online. They also carry Re:designed project bags, which I haven't ever seen sold anywhere in person before. I also bought some Manos Del Uruguay Fino. They have a nice selection of some of my favorite fancy fibers. The prices were on par with any other high end yarn store I've been to in my life. read more

Can I just say WOW?! I've been to at least a hundred yarn shops and boutiques, because I travel to see them. This one is hands down my favorite yarn selection. She doesn't have malabrigo, because she understands the value of her shop space; she's using it to curate the finest selection of fibers and yarn bases I have ever seen and cutting out the yarns you can find everywhere. She's also has the largest selection of BIPOC owned and dyed yarns I have ever seen, if you're looking to support that! Meredith was super nice and greeted me when I entered but didn't hover over me and let me look around. If you actually look at all of the yarns she's got, be prepared to spend at least an hour in the shop. I took tons of pictures so that you can see what I saw-- a very finely curated selection of superwash and non-superwash yarns, hand dyed and local yarns, as well as some of the finest that Europe has to offer. She even has CaMaRose Snefnug, which I had never seen in a shop before. It's all priced competitively and the whole shop is decorated beautifully in a rainbow of colors. I had a great 1st time experience at Knit. I'm not a knitter or crochet gal but I made the trip in order to find a gift for my mother's birthday. She crochets and I think the book that was recommended by the very helpful and friendly staff will be a wonderful addition to crochet collection. While there was a loooooot of yarn, there was also knit and crochet accessories. Books, bags and other accoutrement. They even have seating if you want to come and sit while you do your thing. I'd make another trip just to chat with the staff. read more

This is an absolutely beautiful shop with an excellent selection of yarn and accessories. I am from Las Vegas and the Shop was recommended by a friend. I was very disappointed in the friendliness and service I received. I was never asked if there was something I was looking for. I was greeted with hello that was all. Group of knitters attending open Knitting never responded when I asked and commented about the projects. It was like I was invisible. Generally knitters love to share their projects. This yarn store is amazing. I have been to dozens of yarn stores around the country and this one is top tier in terms of selection, different brands, beautiful layout, great vibes. I stopped by while visiting Dallas on a work trip. They have yarns that I see advertised on Ravelry but never see in person anywhere. Lots of colorways and weights of each yarn brand. I could have spent hours in there. There are several restaurants nearby so you can make an afternoon of it! The owner was there and immediately greeted me. I asked about a specific type of yarn and she got up and showed me where it was. She answered some other questions and also answered questions from some other customers. This is definitely a high end yarn store, not a place for craft/acrylic yarn. The yarn can be pricey, but didn't seem out of range from what I've seen at other similar yarn stores around the country. I didn't look at the books or accessories much, but they were displayed nicely around the store. If you love knitting this is definitely worth braving the Dallas traffic for a visit. read more

I am new to crocheting and knitting. This place is beautiful!!!! This place is impeccable - clean, tidy, organized. You can find every type of yarn imaginable. They have several ideas for projects by showing projects the staff has created. There are plenty of sitting spaces so people can just come in and knit if they wanted. When i went there was a group of 4 people sitting knitting and chatting. It was so pleasant! I loved it! The prices are a bit high, but i guess that it's what the yarn is worth. What a beautiful yarn shop!! I went there while on a conference in Dallas. great selection of yarns, unique project bags and needles. I think it is both interesting and telling that the owner of this establishment responded 4 days ago as of this writing to someone who enjoyed a class at the establishment but NOT to the Hispanic customer who felt slighted 11 days ago. Race and class are contentious topics for sure but by not addressing the earlier post and then addressing the newer post publicly, the owner has given the strong appearance of not giving a shit about every customer's experience. My girlfriend and I came in today, DFW's first cold and rainy day of the year, and we're not greeted by a single employee even after my girlfriend said, "Hello!" to a woman at the counter and was pointedly ignored. The store is charming and warm with little alcoves and comfy chairs and a huge assortment of knitting supplies and ephemera. It also appears to be more of a clique or club than a retail establishment and the prices are high on most things and simply outrageous on others. Strong pass. Addendum; in response to the owner's response. Your Sunday group, I would assume, is customers. Your staff are lacking and as far as privately messaging the individual who perceived a slight during their sale, they must not have been very satisfied to let their poor review stand, eh? I have no axe to grind here, I'm not an angry consumer. But your glib answer regarding your regular customers tells me nothing that would entice us back. read more

The ladies that work there are so nice and helpful! I am a beginner and had a lot of questions. They were nice and patient and answered them all. I have not been to many knit shops but this one was definitely the nicest and best "inventoried". I compared the yarn prices to the same brand online and they were within $2 or less so not overpriced. The quality of the yarn was much better than that in my hometown. I live out of town but hope I can come back and take some of their classes. There were some patrons in the sitting area knitting and were very welcoming (pointing out what project bags they liked and yarn and such). You know those yarn stores you walk into and people are knitting and you say hello and they give you that look like you just walked into their living room uninvited? This is one of them. I don't expect an instant welcome into an established knitting group but I do expect at least a neutral reaction to a hello and I do expect clerks to actually speak to me, especially when I ask them a question. I asked where a certain yarn was and one clerk walked toward the yarn and pointed and then walked off. I didn't realize she wasn't mute until she spoke to someone who I assume was a regular. Selection was actually really nice - some local yarns and some super cute notions from a wide variety of vendors. Prices were a bit higher than retail for some items and right on retail for others (about what you'd expect for brick and mortar yarn store). It's a shame because it was a nice looking shop with room for knitting and a couple of areas for classes. I was a little bummed because I was looking for a nice yarn store closer than McKinney or Grapevine. But I am not spending money in a store where the regulars and staff can't offer a modicum of courtesy. read more

This store provides everything that you don't get at a big box store. Varieties of fibers, people, and activities. It is one of the only stores that I know that has a significant crochet population at there crafternoons. Knit Dallas provides an array of well curated merch for knitters and spaces to hangout and work your yarn craft with others. Beautiful yarns from around the world fill the walls, while cute art-styled notions and coffee-table-worthy knitting books surround the store table-tops. Each yarn selection shares the important details for project making on clear signage. I had a great time with my friend squeezing the yarn and discussing possible makes! Beware, this is not your big-box yarn store; this is boutique shopping for mid-range to high-end yarns. I found the lowest price at $9.50 for 100% wool. I purchased 3 hanks of alpaca/silk yarn in a beautiful color for approximately $60. The craft is pricey for sure, but the store's prices are comparable to those online. It is surprising Dallas doesn't have more stores like this for fans of fiber arts, especially with a burgeoning interest across social media. One major downside, (regardless of the store name), is the lack of resources for crochet makers. I did not see crochet-specific notions or finished projects on display, except for one popular Tunisian crochet book. This seems an oversight given the popularity of crochet and the fact that crochet uses double the yarn for most projects. Overall, visiting Knit Dallas is worth the drive around the corner or across the metroplex. read more
