Do not hire Knik Heating. I have been under contract for twice yearly annual maintenance for several years with Knik Heating. I'm going to set aside for a moment that multiple times I've had to correct them when scheduling inspections/service that I do, in fact, have a membership and other minor annoyances/disorganization with the office. The problem at hand is that I am in the middle of a sale of a home. As my heating company of record, I called them when a tenant moved out pre-sale to report an issue where the heat stopped working. It cost me 218 dollars for them to say that nothing was wrong with the heating system at all - and they did a full inspection from the crawl space to the ducts and such outside. Three days later, because of scheduling issues with Knik, I had to have another company do the pre-sale inspection. The company listed a litany of issues that they say should have been quoted to me through regular maintenance over the years. While Knik has sent me some estimates for items (That their own technicians on site have told me are just upsales/unnecessary) NONE of those have anything to do with the issues the inspection company found with my system. And that's not to mention that the inspection also listed several 'janky' repairs like snipped wires, etc that were questionable in their intent. Nobody but Knik Heating has ever worked on the system. My realtor was disgusted with the Now, do I believe it's fine to charge someone to come out and diagnose a system? Absolutely. Work's not free. But to come out, diagnose a system, say it is in working order, then for another company to perform an inspection (NOT work, mind you, just an inspection) to essentially say it's on the brink - with a catastrophic failure mere days later - is beyond the pail. When I called, after calmly asking to speak with a supervisor and sharing what my concerns were, the supervisor interrupted me many times during the call and more than once was condescending and rude and generally doing her best to escalate the situation, even blaming her technicians on the call and saying I should have a problem with them, not her, 'because I didn't go to your house'. Couple this with the fact that this is actually not the first time I have had an issue with them not guaranteeing their work. I had to call them back three times to fix an issue that was caused (through their own admission later) by their own maintenance work flattening out some piece somehow. And the office manager and I had to have it out over trying to charge me for that fix, as well. They also still owe me an additional biannual maintenance visit for this year that they will not have completed by the time the home is - hopefully, at this point due to their negligence - sold. An example of the word games the supervisor person used. Early in the call, she claimed that there were dismissed maintenance estimates from me that, and I quote, "Would have prevented everything the other company claims is wrong with your system." The problem with that assertion? I hadn't actually told her what the other company claimed was wrong with my system. TL;DR they didn't do a good job of annual maintenance and it is costing me a lot of money right now in the middle of a home sale. As far as alternatives go, Rock Solid Plubing and Heating and The Plumbing and Heating Doctor have both done amazing work with me at different houses. Rock Solid did a very thorough inspection, and Plumbing And Heating Doctor installed a brand new furnace at my home and did a great job. read more

Not possible to go below one star but I would if I could. For some reason they were backed up and took a few weeks to get here for a service. When the day of service came they called to say they were not coming. I should have taken that as a sign and found someone else. Not sure how many people use these guys but should be zero. Serviced my boiler and came back with a $2500.00 repair. Didn't clean it or even take it apart, just 2500 for four replaceable parts I found on the internet for 1/30th of the price. That is not a misprint - they offered to install a flame sensor and spark ignitor (two screws and a single wire lead) for 29 times the price I found it (OEM parts) on the net. I don't believe labor should be 29 times the part for a job that takes 4 minutes and is easier to do than an average spark plug. Try another company if at all possible. Avoid any upsell or excessive parts work. Seek a second opinion and I believe you will find a better price. This is the first time I have ever reviewed a company which should tell you how strongly I feel about they. I would let these guys take out my garbage! read more

The service guy was a bit late showing up for the appointment. But I was informed of his route and estimated time of arrival. I appreciate that. What I did not appreciate is the tech showed up with no intention of preforming any work at all! I was very clear about what I wanted and had cleaned his work area and made it accessible. All the technician did was take pictures and said I would get a call with an estimate. For this I paid $145. Did I ever get that estimate? NO. I was ghosted instead. First I had this company install a water softner, filtration, and reverse osmosis system in my house. Very professional installers. The reverse osmosis hose had a defect on it and had a slow leak. KNIK heating sent Chad out right away to fix it and he did a great job. I later had them replace my boiler for a Bosch Greenstar 151 Combination boiler. They get me scheduled within 2 weeks and did a great job. I would hire again. If you have issues with your existing system they are helpful as well. Request Paul or Chad. I need my head examined i guess... Sept 28th and sept 29th of 2017 i had a boiler installed by Knik heating of Wasilla. The Owner Patrick drove out to my house and with the typical charisma of a true salesman he told me he had just what i needed and that the new system would be reliable and save me quite a bit on my fuel bills. Well $20,000 later (yes i know, i need my head examined) he and his crew installed a high efficiency boiler and a hot water maker. It was during the install i realized i may have made a big mistake! He treated his employees like crap! He screamed at them and said things like "you have ten minutes to finish that job get your ass in gear" As far as i could tell he had some really good guys working for him and i started feeling bad for them and at the same time... like i was getting the " car built at 5:00 on Friday". And as time would tell it was way worse than that! 1 year and 28 days later, one of my floors heat stopped working so i called them.... and although they put me off a bit they did send out a very competent tech... who in 45 minutes had the problem figured out. He said the install guys had left the pressure up and the supply water off and a pump flange had leaked and it burned up the pump. He told me there would be no charge and he would call me when the pump had been ordered to tell me when he could return. Remember it's winter time in Alaska by now, my third floor is 50 degrees and I'm a little anxious. A few days later the tech called me apologetically and told me I would have to buy the pump myself because it was out of warranty and that it would cost $914 to return and replace the pump. Well of course I said no that wasn't going to happen because it wasn't my fault it was installers fault as he told me. Instead of calling me and talking to me about it they didn't order the pump. I texted and called the owner five or six times and he finally returned my call and told me the tech was mistaken and had no business calling and telling me what was wrong. The owner Patrick proceeded to tell me that I should've had the whole system serviced the year before and they would've found the problem. The whole system had been installed for 43 days a year before!!!! Remember at this point I've had my system for one year and 43 days. No attempt to compromise or make anything right occurred. Nor ever has! Upon calling back, his dispatcher told me, that he told her he would never call me again. Which is the case he has never return my phone calls or texts! When he sold me the system he told me that they would service my boiler system and it would be reliable but neither of those has happened. When I inspected it myself I found two more leaks on the fittings at the top of the hot water maker. And I sent some pictures and texts begging him to send someone out to fix these and he's refused to return my phone calls or texts! I have to say I have never been so disappointed in my life with a company. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these guys they don't keep their word, they didn't do good work, and the owner lied to me! He told me he set the pressure on my system down to 18 pounds himself when he was there, but the tech showed me a photograph of the pressure gauge reading 40 pounds which the owner had seen. Knik heating doesn't back their work And the pump that he told me was $539 to replace cost me $139 at the local plumbing store... Which makes me think everything I bought from him was way overpriced! After determining we needed a new water heater he got a tech out that night to do a temporary fix so we could have cold water at least. First of all please please do not use this rip off company. They are not true to there word! We newly installed top of the line Bosche on demand tankless water heater as so the salesman Pat said 3 years ago! December 2019 our water heater went out so we called them to check it out and they said it's still on warrenty so i had no worries! Three days later no answer no check ups NADA! and mind you its winter time and i have 5 kids "No hot water in the house what so ever"! So my husband called them and they said Bosche was not going to warrenty it cause it was not serviced! I was pissed! A brand new top of the line brand, i wouldn't have thought to service it! Our boiler before this one lasted 10 years without servicing until the thermostat and coupler went out and they were going to charge us an Arm and Leg for those parts so PAT talked us into this Bosche system! So anyways Pat gave me 2 options !!!!!! Buy another $3500. System and he will throw in a free hard water sensor that is worth $1500. And buy one of their service plans which cost an Arm and Leg! Or.... we could buy the hot water tank part that went bad in the system but it will cost u alot for the part and shipping and it wont be warranted! So i specifically said to get the part because i know it dam well it isn't going to cost as much as a new system! A new system he was selling from Japan that i could definitly not afford in December during Christmas break! So now its January 2020 our heater is still down and upstairs tubs the water is shut off because of how the valves are to the tankless system! Didn't hear a peep from PAT about how much is the part or if he ordered it or what! So my husband went ahead and ordered the part which he went thru hoops and talk to professional to make sure its the right part $530. Later! So we got it in and my husband called PAT to see if we can be scheduled to install the part and guess what that dumbass PAT said!!!!! He didn't know that we wanted to go with ordering the part! FML!!!! So we told him we got the right part just have his tech install it!! And what did he say "NO because he has to order the part himself""!!!!! Well Hell!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If I could give zero stars I would. We hired them for pre-sale cleaning and inspection of our systems, knowing we are out of state, and they told us we needed either thousands of dollar in a warranty repair that could take 2-3 weeks or a whole new heating system that they could install right away. Turned off our heat, in Alaska, during the winter and left the house before he called to inform us of what he found. We had to ask him to go back and turn on the water to keep our pipes from freezing, he didn't offer to leave electric heaters or anything. We hired a second company to come out that night (in less than an hour, thank you Mat-Su Mechanical, who I highly recommend) to reinspect the system and he found nothing wrong and had the evidence to back it up. We tried to contact the owners of Kink Heating to speak about this issue and they will not call us back and its been almost a month. After this happened to us we found out they have done this before during pre-sale inspections; scaring the sellers into installing a new heating system so they can sell their house in a timely manner. DO NOT USE KNIK HEATING. Not only did they miss diagnosed my heating problem, but they quoted me over $800 for my motherboard which I did not need. I found it for $90, replaced it and the same code came up saying bad limit switch. Very cheap and a five minute fix just by reading the code but I paid them $120 for a misdiagnosis only to buy the part they told me was needed and tried to mark up 800%. When I called the office to speak with a manager, they of course apologized and I offered to pay half of the diagnosis even though it was incorrect but they declined. In May of this year I bought a furnace and a hot water heater from this company. The furnace was improperly installed and required a service call the next day to fix it. After another service call, they said to remove a filter to quiet down the furnace (???). The water heater has had two service calls for repair due to improper installation. The owner/ sales guy never inspected the work, and refuses to meet with me. This job isn't even two months old. Avoid this highly unprofessional outfit. The service techs blame the installers and vice versa and the head of the company won't even come out to check. After the 6th service call and water heater still leaking, I'm having it replaced by another more reputable company. Avoid Knik Heating if you need any HVAC or plumbing needs. Finally got closure on the faulty water heater Knik heating palmed off on me. I called the manufacturer, and the had a professional (not Knik) replace the unit. It now functions, and has passed the city inspectors review. Note: Knik Heating never called or even suggested that the city inspector should review their work. Wonder why? LOL. read more

Knik Heating is a RIP OFF. I would have given them 0 stars if it was possible. So after the earthquake our furnace went out. We have been heating our 3600 sf home with a wood burning stove since, we finally had to get our heater fixed because it has been geeing colder. We called Knik heating and they said that they do have after hour pricing of $280 diagnostic fee or $117 for normal hours. We told them we could wait until Monday. They never call or showed so we called at 4:30 and they said they would schedule us for Tuesday at 11 am, they showed up after 3pm. We were told we needed an new Electronic Oil Igniter (Price is $55 at home depot) we were told the cost of the part was $558. I told the gentleman to please get me the exact part that needed to be replaced and call me back with it. I told him that I would be the one to authorize the work, not my husband, (he will just say do it without researching). He called my husband and never even called me back. My daughter called me 8 minutes later and told me that the gentleman replaced the part and was finished. I am pissed off. They charged me over $665 for less than an hour of diagnostics and 8 min to replace a $55 part. That is just insane. I called and Sierra told me that since the earthquake they have been swamped and they now just charge a flat rate on all services. I do believe that is called PRICE GOUGING !!! How can they take advantage of people like that and sleep at night. I have no respect for them. They will be reported to the Better Business Bureau. By the way I have since called 4 others in the Valley that have quoted me from $280 to a maximum of $340 depending on how long it takes to install. These all include 1 year warranties, no the measly 30 day warranty that Knik Heating says they provide. read more

So my husband is out looking for a overflow pump for our furnace. Knik Plumbing & Hearing had done (1st time using them) the maintenance and turns out they unplugged the unit, and failed to replug it and it flooded the motor. This is one of several things that appeared untrustworthy. I reluctantly gave a credit card over the phone, and when the service person came out, said they did not have our card on file and needed to collect payment. Service was "scheduled" specifically for three units over the phone. The furnace, the garage heater and the H-VAC System. After confirming such with the service person upon arrival and touting how my husband is methodical about changing filters, I was told..they would do their thing and then sit down with me once complete. So they apparently "chose" for themselves instead of the garage heater, to (what they referred to) as service the on-demand hot water heater. The. They wanted more money for the garage heater, and they did NOT truly service the on-demand system, and when I said I thought that meant flushing the system..he said, no...because you have a water softener system so it doesn't need to be flushed to service. His words not mine, because I was skeptical of them wanting to add this "service" without my authorization and so I googled what it takes to service/maintenance on a on-demand hot water system. We had just had a service person out about a week prior to clean the dryer vent and they gave us photos of the H-VAC and said, it really wasn't that bad, but they would recommend checking again next year. Knik Plumbing & Heating took a photo and said they really wanted to encourage us to clean the air flow vents. They did NOT know, we already had the vents checked and had considered cleaning them. I was very sad, and have worked in the customer service industry for my entire lifetime. DO NOT USE KINIK HEATING!!! The Owner is a crook!! Sorry for the long post, but I need folks to know who to avoid. It started off us buying an on Demand Hot water heater with install for almost $7,000.. I know waaaay too much,but as new homeowners and no hot water or heat in the middle of winter we were desperate,after they installed it our heat in our living room quit working we made several calls to them, they kept telling us it wasn't their fault, and we have bad baseboards (come to find out they had turned something off to replace the water heater and never turned it back on)... FF 5 years and 2 months past warranty it started leaking pretty bad, we called them, of course since it was 2 months out of Warranty, we were out of luck..we had them come out to take a look at it, the told us what they saw wrong, and said it would be $640.00 to fix it...so reluctantly we had them come out... John came out, took 20 minutes to "fix" it, he also poured 2 buckets of dirty muky water down our toilet with out even asking, should have been something he took outside, it ended up backing up our toilet, leaving water and sludge all over the toilet(that wouldn't flush after he did that) and floor, not even 20 min after he left it was still leaking, so we called them back and they tell us it would take a week to get someone back out, my hubby said no way, then made a comment about the toilet they acted like it was no big deal, and he actually blamed my 12 year old daughter-who by the way didn't even go in there, they ended up coming back out the next day then tell us "oh no, now 2 other things need to be replaced it's going to cost you another $900.00.. (Yeah not happening)we paid them to fix what they said was wrong and come to find out they didn't even replace one of the parts they say they did..so we are still dealing with a leak and are out $640.00 my husband called them again angry at this point, and Alex tell him "well if you aren't happy go somewhere else... not even a week before we had a pipe burst in out wall..it was after hours and Bob came out He was nice enough but after cutting a hole in our floor to get to the pipe informs us he's not a plumber and wasn't sure what he was doing.. he couldn't find a pipe that fit so he fixed it using a radiator hose and clamps.. Almost $400 for that visit, and nice guy or not that is NOT a fix...the same day John came out for the water heater they sent another guy named Bob(different from the first) we later find out they call him Wreck it Bob, he "re-fixed" the pipe got soddering everywhere and while using his torch left black soot all over our wall and burned the wood causing flame (he quickly blew out) he was hollering and getting mad because he was having a hard time and cursing A LOT zero respect for our home, they both left a big mess in their wake...this Company is a crock, they do not care about the customer, they are CROOKS if I could give ZERO STARS I would. go else where heed the reviews you read!! We upgraded our furnace to a high efficiency Amana by Knik Heating just last month. The install crew was very knowledgeable and caring to keep our house clean. The owner "Pat" showed and explained to me and my wife what the install would entail and how long it would take. Afterwards a technician tested the unit at start up and answered all our questions. The next day we received a call from the Knik Heating Office asking how our experiencing was and if we were happy the Amana furnace and the install. I have to say we are very happy with both the furnace and Knik Heating. I would recommend this company to anyone and I do. Stay away! Sorry so verbous, but I want to tell the whole situation. I had an emergency flood from frozen pipes. The initial service man came quickly and made sure the water system was secured, bypassed a split water conditioner. He couldn't restore/fix as a cabinet had to be removed to get to the pipe. He couldn't wait :20min for me to remove cabinet. The next day a plumber came to fix the pipe and he found so many leaks that they recommended replumbing the whole house (only 650sq ft), which he doesn't do. This is When Patrick the owner got involved as part of the system has a $2000 water conditioner. He gave me pricing on a comparable unit. I asked for info (brand, model, specs) on the unit before I buy it. Over a week later Patrick hadn't called, so I called to get specs. He said the unit was installed and operating! When I asked who gave authorization to install Patrick got mad and YELLED at me! I asked him for the make & model so I could research it. He gave me the info and was very angry. He demanded that I make a decision to keep his unit (or not) within two days! I asked him for the water test results from his unit install. He said he'd get that for me. Within two days, even though Patrick hadn't given me the test results, I called and accepted their water conditioner. I mostly choose theirs because I was told it was already operating and I didn't want to deal with Knick Heating & Plumbing anymore. I found out that Knik H & P had already charged my credit card for the unit, before I had accepted it! They billed the total reinstall off my house as "one day plumbing". They took all the copper pipe and didn't issue any "copper credit" for the value. When I got back into the house after being gone for almost a month, I found the conditioner was NOT installed or operational! It had never been tested or even plugged in! And it was placed in the wrong area! I called Patrick. Once again Patrick YELLED at me and fought with me! I told him to install it correctly to my satisfaction or remove it. He said he would get to it within 10 days! The corrected install happened on the LAST day I was home and when they left my husband had found that the plumbing valves had been turned so only half of our water was going to the conditioner! I found that Patrick is not a certified plumber or HVAC, he is only certified to do ductwork. read more

This spring I had Knik Heating install a new high efficiency, muti stage forced air furnace in my home. I'm very pleased with the professional service I received. The owner/sales rep. came by my house and assessed my needs. The next day a crew of two men removed my old furnace and installed the new furnace, connecting to my existing HRV unit. The owner then returned to my home just as the crew finished up with their clean up. He showed me how the furnace operated and made sure I was pleased. Workers have visited my house 3 times to get a brand-new (but unused furnace) working and it still is unreliable. I would recommend researching out more companies. By far the worst encounter with ANY service I've had. I had called my landlord about a loud noise my floor board heaters we making. It was incredibly loud and kept me up. I sent her an email on Friday and was planning on sleeping in a bit on Saturday. I woke up Saturday to some one pounding on my door over and over again incredibly loud. My first thought was that someone was breaking in! ( that's how loud and uncalled for it was ) I was not dressed or remotely presentable so I went to look out of the peep hole to see who was banging on my door at 9 am only to see some guy, who I now know as Patrick, putting his ear against my door listening inside and twisting my door knob! Which makes me wonder what he would have done if my door wasn't locked, just walked in? Then he continued for five more minutes (while I was frantically cleaning) to bang on the door and make jokes about how he was going to get the master key and walk in. I then called him and told him no one had called me to tell me he was coming and I needed to get dressed. After talking to him I have to tell you he is the most pompous condescending jerk I have ever talked to. Not only did he never contact me by phone to ASK me if he could stop by but he nearly tried to break in to my apartment and then talked to me like I was an idiot after I let him in. I would never recommend knik heating to anyone. And my heater still makes the same noise it did to begin with. read more
