From where I'm originally from, in Cambridge, I struggle to think of a single chemist or pharmacist in the city that isn't part of one of the several big pharmaceutical chains (Lloyds etc.). That's one of the major reasons that places such as Knights Pharmacy grab my attention, if for just their signage standing out from one of the three or four homogenous logos that I've grown used to seeing on almost every row of shops. The pharmacy does prescriptions and off the shelf medicines, as well as having an advice counter, a rare commodity in a location this size. The various medical products available to buy are wide ranging and competitively priced, and the staff are friendly, creating a real 'local shop serving the local community' feel about the place (it even smells like a traditional, independent pharmacy, if you follow me). It's also worth noting that it stays open an extra hour on Wednesdays, until 6pm. A great little business. read more
