If you're looking for the classic fine retailer experience, Knickers (men's shop on HHI) is a must shop. The merchandise lines are fantastic, staff is very knowledgeable/helpful and the store is curated for a great retail experience. Year after year, this men's shop delivers an extraordinary five star shopping experience. A frequent shopper visiting the Island. read more

We've been coming to the island almost 30 years now and shopping at Knickers has been a regular experience, one we often look forward to and enjoy. Unfortunately, this visit will probably end it for us. Whoever came up with the idea of finding your discount in the fishbowl... what a ridiculous gimmick! It reminded me of Shoe Carnival. A store like Knickers need only have a reduced sale rack, not a scavenger hunt all over the store. Totally made the place feel "cheap ". The woman working that day, contributed greatly to the downhill spiral. She mostly smirked at us behind the counter. She did not explain very well how the gimmick worked so we were forced to " connect the dots " that once you picked 1 item ( only THAT 1 item ) I guess she would ring up the item at full price, THEN you draw a little colored ball from the fish bowl to see if it was either 10, 20, or at most 30% off. Then you were expected to follow through and buy it. We were stunned that a place like this would resort to luring you in and trying to force you to purchase. Again, a Shoe Carnival experience. Looking through the reviews has confirmed my thoughts. This store has slipped from a high level class of service ( not merchandise ). It was encountering the woman working there on this visit that lacked simple professionalism and hospitality. Instead she had an odd attitude with a smirk on her face. Never once did she offer to take items we couldn't find where they belonged. ( I have worked retail for almost 30 years myself. We were trying to help! ) The island is primarily a resort, particularly Harbor Town. One would think the employee would keep that in mind. Impressions matter. John Bayley Clothier carries similar high quality men's merchandise. You will get good service there. They will be where we shop from here on out on our visits and given their location in Wexford Village, you don't have to pay a gate fee to go shop there. read more

We walked around shopping, found a shirt to buy, walked to the old man at the register for him to say they were closed because half the lights are off. Well, sir, half the lights were on and the door was open. Next time maybe lock the door if you're closed and don't let someone shop around before you let them know. read more

My initial impression of the store and staff was great. The older gentleman who assisted me was knowledgeable and helpful. However, after trying on several shirts and putting all but two back myself (shirts that required proper folding), he made an incredibly rude comment when I told him I wasn't going to purchase any of them, as they weren't what I was looking for. It's a shame that my visit ended this way. I understand that trying on button down shirts requires refolding, but making a rude remark to a potential customer simply because they didn't buy an item is unacceptable. Because of this, you've lost my business, and I unfortunately cannot say anything positive about my experience, the store, or the staff. You need to do better. read more

My wife and I visited Knickers on October 30, 2022. We tend to stop by this shop when we come to Hilton Head because the selection is very different from what we can purchase in New Hampshire. It is important to look sharp. The owner and his staff were terrific in helping me get some fine looking clothes for the season ahead. We will be back in the spring. read more

Extremely racist staff. As soon as my cousins (who are mixed) and I walked in we immediately started getting watched by the old guy who was running the store at the time and eventually came up to us and told us to leave if we weren't buying as there were plenty of white people in there just looking but as soon as people of color come in and do the same they aren't welcome. Makes sense that a place named "Knicker's" would have staff that act like this. read more

Very unfriendly staff. The tall old man was rude and unprofessional. Do not recommend. Skip this store.

Was very appalled by the racists acts of those who work at this store. My mother and I had been in the store for about 15 minutes with no attention given to us by the staff, not even a "can I help you?" When my sister and her boyfriend (who is Black) joined us, he was immediately asked with a tone of accusation if he needed help and then when he said no, the woman did not move but continued to stand far too close to him until we left no more than 2 minutes later. Do not support this racist business. There are a lot of other great stores around the area that offer much more. read more

I like that there is a decent men's clothing store w name brands that we like but the women running this store followed us around the ENTIRE time asking me 4 times if they could put the items I was holding at the counter. One lady stood about 3 inches from me and I had to actually ask her to back up so I could get by.. let's get a grip . I purchased the items but if I had it to do over , I would at the fourth time let her take the clothing from me and keep them. There's such a thing as giving the customer their space lady's read more

Terrible return policy and not very nice. Make sure you know you want to keep it before you leave the island because they will not work with you. I will not shop here again - you can get all the same brands at Nordstrom with free shipping and no hassle returns. But it at Nordstrom! read more

This store is awesome! I have been shopping here for years and each time it gets better. They carry brands like Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Tommy Bahama, Peter Millar, Oliver Ridley, and Castaway. The size selection is from XS to XXXL. Not all sizes in all products, mind you, but selected merchandise. The staff is very helpful and professional and take pride in their merchandising. If you want a pleasant shopping experience, with a helpful, knowledgeable staff, this store is for you. But if you would rather pick through piles of clothing looking for bargains, stick to the outlets read more
