Absolutely the best. The culture, the people, the education for Baseball is exactly what you want in a baseball organization.

Check. Batting cages? Check. Paid for by tax money!? CHECK!!! "Woo hoo," right? Sounds like a fun weekend or week day of playing some summer ball or even in winter when there's nobody to be seen for miles. EGHHH!! (That's my "wrong" buzzer sound.) Even though it's supposed to be public, you can't get in. It's locked up at all times unless you're with the little league program. The only way in is if you hop the fence and hopefully nobody sees you. Shhhh... play baseball in secret, it's f'ing ridiculous. I was there watching a kids game and some older guys, like college players, were pitching in the dirt bullpen the other week, completely not even on the grass fields, let alone near the "prized" raked infields... in the voice of Allen Iverson, "We talking practice!! Practice... in the bullpen!!" This blowheart flipped out at them, screaming at them to get outta there, etc. Apparently he's the guy who "runs" the place or something, acting like a real tough guy and they weren't even hurting anything. He kinda pulled up his pants, struttin' like Chris Farley, "Livin' in a van...!!" You can tell that, to this guy, it's "his" complex and he'll be damned if anyone has fun there that he doesn't "approve." Anyway... so yeah, it's like this amazing place that you paid for with your tax money... but you can't use it.

Agoura Hills is already known as a sort of sleepy, equestrian community (and slightly less affluent…read morethan neighboring Calabasas); but the Old Agoura neighborhood is literally like stepping back into time. There is a quiet, peaceful feel in the air and yet very "wild west" with horses and a saloon-like ambiance. It is basically like a large ranch. I was going to be working a yoga class for 17 young ladies celebrating a bachlorette party and needed a park to home our class. We randomly picked Old Agoura Park and it was a great luck of the draw (see what I did there?). Old Agoura Park is located immediately off the 101 freeway at the Cheseboro exit and Colodny Drive. You can't miss its signage directly after the 'Old Agoura' overhang on the road. Old Agoura Park is a corner square real estate, medium in size with two ample parking lots (one being a dirt lot directly at the the entrance and the other a paved lot by the baseball field). Old Agoura Park is nicknamed "The Horse Park" and with good reason: there is a dirt, fenced in area for horses and a walking path around the perimeter of the park also suitable for horses. Plus, ranches are situated adjacent to the park and so horses are basically everywhere. And who can complain about that?! Horses are great! This does, however, mean the occasional spotting of horse manure. The park is slightly limited in offerings. Aside from the above mentioned, there is a well-maintained playground for children, some picnic tables and BBQ grills, a basketball hoop (not a complete court because only one hoop), a baseball field (home to the Agoura Hills Pony League), and bathrooms. This may sound like a lot but it is small and noticeably less than other neighborhood parks around LA. Regardless of its small size, the Old Agoura Park is very well maintained: it is clean, the trash cans are not overflowing, and even the bathrooms are nice which is rare in parks! Then again, this is Agoura Hills so it is expected. The water fountain connected to the bathroom wasn't working though which is a no-no. One of the best characteristics? Old Agoura Park provides ample shade with huge trees, beautiful lush grass, and is SO QUIET! Even on a Saturday with a few children, adults, and even a baseball team present; the park was silent except for the sounds of nature and was subsequently so relaxing! I could have fallen asleep! It was perfect for our Yoga class as the participants could hear the instructor and didn't have any distractions. A quiet park is heaven to my introverted self! Apparently, Old Agoura Park also features events for the community such as outdoor movie nights so this is something to consider when looking for family-friendly events. All in all, Old Agoura Park is great! A quiet, peaceful, lush park with horses present and in a well-maintained environment. Definitely a great choice when looking for a park in the neighborhood!
