The view from our room of the water and mountains was gorgeous. We dined at the restaurant, and I wasn't impressed with either the fish soup or the monkfish. The soup was barely warm and the flavor was underwhelming and lacking much richness. The scallops were also overcooked. The monkfish had a good combination of fresh components, but the sauce was again disappointing. Breakfast was standard for Europe and I think anyone could find something to enjoy. I would give the hotel itself five stars and the hotel restaurant three stars.

The location is absolutely gorgeous, it is right by the water and we had a view out of the window. The room is small but very comfortable, and the heated floors In the bathroom were a great touch. They had recently renovated and added on, and it was very nice in the lobby and the patio. We used trolltunga active to do the hike, and it was so much fun! They were excellent. After the long hike, we ate dinner at the restaurant that night and it was absolutely delicious! We got local ciders from a neighboring town, and the pizza. So great! Would recommend to any and all!

You'll get your own private bathroom, but it will be bare bones, the bed was more like a cot and had very little support. However, the views are priceless. Every morning I would wake up to another worldly fjord with waterfalls. The restaurant food was amazingly great. The pumpkin soup was perfect, well spiced and stomach warming. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium well sauced and beautifully garnished. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

The furnitures has a character you do not find these days. The hotel is warm with its wooden walls and ceilings. The view from the hotel is magnificent and so is the hotel itself. You can see this hotel from far. You can not miss it! Do not expect a fancy modern hotel, because this is the total opposite. Prepare to fall in love with the place and the view. It is the perfect starting and ending point for your hike up to Pulpit Rock. The main building is the hotel lodge where every room has a private bath. Another smaller building is the hostel where the rooms have shared bathrooms. The rooms were alright. Definitely, not fancy. Although, WiFi was included...the signal was not very good inside our room. Had to go down to the lounge area or lobby area in order to use it. Bed wasn't the best, but I still slept well. Breakfast was included with our accommodation, and the food was pretty good. We also tried their restaurant for dinner. Their were only a few entree choices, but all were very good. The Norwegian Meatball entree was my favorite. Would I stay here again? Yup! We've already crossed Preikestolen off our bucket list, but I recommend staying at this lodge when you are in this part of Norway.

Check-in and check-out was a breeze, they give you a key tied to a wooden knob/plank with your room number. The location is great as you are right by Pulpit Rock, but there are a variety of activities you can do on-site. One of the best things here was the free breakfast. I stayed there the entire time, people watching and trying out all the unique foods from the area. I also had lunch here as well, which was reasonably priced considering the price of food everywhere else in Norway.

In other words a great place to stay if your in town for the weekend. H O T E L: Scandic Haugesund offers free wifi, free bike rental and included breakfast as any other Scandic does. Unfortunately the breakfast was rather poor. They didn't refill the food treys and the cheese was totally empty by the time we came down to eat. The coffee was not included in the breakfast but costed 15kr. Breakfast without coffee!? Come on.. The hotel itself was nice, I would say it has a rather normal Scandic style. They try their best to be green and environmental friendly, something I appreciate a lot. R O O M: The room was nice but like a lot of the other scandic's I've been to they lack some light. More window or lamps would be great! The one window we had (in room 203) pointed right to the stairway in the next building. Not that tempting to keep the curtains open, really... The bathroom was the big plus for us this time. It was very nice, and the big shower was amazing! Only thing I was missing was a better mirror, one that allows you to do your makeup. As a little bonus the room had a water boiler (not at all common in Scandic) and a very good iron (so I could go to wedding in a wrinkel-free dress). C O N C L U T I O N: Not super happy this time, still it's really ok. I could be back.
