It was a bit too good to be true, so I naturally had to scope it out. The Aikon Arcade quietly nested in the Carrollwood Grand Plaza along the northbound side of Dale Mabry. It's actually quite easy to miss if you're not paying attention - the purple/white branding of the signage did necessarily stick out with the red brick exterior facade. As it does establish itself in the plaza, there is plenty of parking. Going back to the branding, I found it neat for them to use the Japanese fortune cat, maneki-neko, in association with the type of games they have here. As you walk in, you will immediately find the gacha-prize section, along with other purchase-only Japanese toy blind boxes, which produces rather cute loot. *If you're looking for Labubu's to purchase, you will find a good variety of them here* A wall of the potential loot the blind boxes produces is on display, almost resembling that of the POP MART and MINISO stores. While not as expansive as the aforementioned stores, there is a great variety of these blind boxes that is catered to the tastes of different collectors. The rest of the arcade consists of primarily of claw-machines and around a dozen gachapon vending machines. There is also a cash-only photo booth machine with cute photo booth accessories if you need a break from all the neon lights enthralling you with their unwavering posture. The claw machines here are not guaranteed - very different than a GATCHA arcade where each game essentially guarantees you a prize stuffie. I would rate these claw machines as mildly challenging which still gives the thrill of playing these types of games. The trade-off here is in the tokens for each game. While each game costs an absurd amount of tokens/credits (you're looking at around 26-39 credits on average) at the GATCHA arcade, you're spending an average of 9.1 tokens/credits at Aikon (the games here range from around 8 to 22 credits for the claw machines and 30 credits for the gachapon machines). So for about $40, which gives you around 336 tokens, you could play potentially 36 games. And for pretty decent looking plushies, I'd say that's a great trade off. You can then swap the winnings (the plushies) in for points where you can then use to trade in for select blind boxes (to include a limited variety of Labubus). There are also a few claw machines that offer the dice roll which may also offer some of these blind boxes as prizes. And of course, the staff. They are amazing. The girls here are extremely friendly and courteous. I brought each of my daughters here on separate days and the staff were their biggest hype-persons. A+ in this category alone. Aikon Arcade is uniquely one of a kind - you can only find Aikon in Tampa, Florida. So if you're into gacha culture, or claw machines in general, Aikon is the place to go!

The set up of this museum is underwhelming but overwhelming in the moment. After purchasing tickets, you walk immediately into a water table area which is quite large but hard for little kids to interact with the water. By little kids, I mean 1.5 (walking age) to 3 yo old. Big kids are running around and throwing balls into the water and there are maybe 5 step stools total to use to reach the water. It might be a nice add to have a little kids water area attached to the larger water table. Plus the seating for parents are plastic Adirondack chairs. Maybe they're easier to clean or replace but additional benches might be a better use of the seating. All in all, it's a rather jolting start to the museum experience. Next, you have to go back out to the lobby area to catch ONE elevator to go up to the second and third floors. The second floor was so packed, we could hardly get off the elevator. I have to preface, we are in spring break but I kid you not, every single station and toy was being used and the kids were FERAL. Bigger kids were running around, shoving younger kids out of the way (lord of the flys iykyk) which is understandable cause 6-9 year old are hyped up too. But the set up was really hard to go from one area to the next without elbowing someone in the face. The stations were cool but the flow is not the best. Speaking for 6-9 year olds too, it seemed hard for them to really play cause there were so many little kids in the way. I'm not sure how to combat something like this (accommodate for diff age ranges) but there was simply not enough space overall. And no big jungle gym or trampoline area or plastic ball area with nets for the opportunity to fling their little kid bodies around. The third floor was extremely underwhelming and a poor use of space. I think the skeleton of the dinosaur takes up way too much room and the space can be utilized a lot better by brining it down to the area with the train set. Upstairs could be a huge opportunity for a jungle gym, plastic ball pits or netting or airplanes or something else that is a lot more interactive. I feel like the set up of the museum is off. There is no natural flow and people get stuck in each of the stations. Especially if you have multiple kids you're trying to chase, it's kinda a nightmare. All in all, we won't be returning until the kids are older and it's way too hot outside to do anything else.

The 1st house was okay, but the theme was a little strange. It was about the three princesses and the scare actors seemed to want to talk about the torture and insult us more, but we had to usher through the house. I think it was the weakest, but goofy. There were people in sheets in a room with a stroke light, a dirty bathroom with a scare actor talking to himself through a mirror, and lots of gory effects. The 3rd house was about blood fairies which has a fun walk through the woods with some cool props. It was a little annoying on this one, just because the group in front of us was walking extremely slow. We eventually caught up to them, so we tried to slow down to stagger our groups more, but the group behind us caught up to us. We all were kind of clumped together. It kind of messed up the flow, but the effects were all very fun. The venue is normally great at timing so groups all get a chance to go. They also have some food and drinks for purchase at reasonable prices. Parking is a breeze and the ticket process is relatively easy. The bag policy was a bit confusing though since it said online that you could bring a fanny pack, but then upon arrival it said no fanny packs. I guess being a clear tote if you need, which is allowed.

Sir Henry's Haunted Trails is not your average haunted house -- it's a full-on choose your own nightmare experience in the woods. Each trail has its own story, detailed sets, and scare actors who are way too good at their job. My daughter and her friend were clutching each other one second, laughing hysterically the next, and sprinting for their lives the moment a chainsaw revved up. I, of course, maintained my cool... mostly. The atmosphere is incredible -- fog rolling through the trees, eerie music, and enough jump scares to keep your heart rate in cardio mode. Even the waiting areas feel like mini horror movie sets. The team behind this event clearly puts a lot of heart (and fake blood) into making it unforgettable. 10/10 would get chased again. If you want Halloween thrills done right, Sir Henry's is where fear and fun hold hands in the dark.

The admittance is $8/adults and kids under 2 get in for free. It's a small area but so festive. There is a 1/4 mile trail of walking around to see various light displays and characters. They have a scavenger hunt paper for kids to fill out while walking, but we enjoyed it as well. There is also a little maze to go through - super cute! After the light displays you can get a free gift at the concessions. There are a variety of food options (I recommend the fresh donuts and hot chocolate) that are very reasonably priced. You can tell it's more about the family friendly feel than the profit. Around the area they play Christmas movies for kids and have tons of games to keep them occupied - duck races, connect-4, coloring, letters to Santa, photograph area, and ping-pong. I highly recommend for all ages to enjoy as it is really a nice outing if you are looking to experience something some small town festivities for the holidays.
