I am going to remove one start for every point I make. Yet, number five is enough to leave a bad review in any platform for any restaurant.
1. One Negroni please.I asked a negroni once expecting the eternal equal parts of Gin, Rosso Vermout and Campari. I received a glass with gin, one cube of ice (in summer) and a house blend from a bottle with a handwritten sticker.
I asked the bartender: Hey this doesn't taste like a Negroni, can you make me on classic Negroni?
Bartender answer: We have a home made mix we prefer to use to do that drink.
I wonder how the owners of the place would feel if they go to a pizzeria for a pizza and get Rosti instead. I imagine the answer from the waitress in that imaginary pizzeria:
"That's our new house pizza (pointing the rosti)" - tarantella in the background
2. Restaurant or Food Court? This is how Klara etiquette goes. You order your food directly at the kitchen. Most of the times you don't get a locator. If you don't like a drink from the kitchen you have to make a second line in the bar. Then, you wait for your drink and go to pick up your food. Amusingly most of the times a person scream your name a few times after waiting for 10-20 min. If you are with friends that order from a different kitchen, you will notice that is at best a bit awkward the waiting time. Once you get your food, you walk to your table and eat. There is more. You have to take your dishes and utensils to a basket (usually full), and drop very carefully the dishes and glasses in a not very hygienic set up. Remember your table have to be clean and nice for the next guest after you. What a great experience!.I still wonder, is Klara a restaurant or food court? As a matter of fact, I know I am paying restaurant prices. And I know the etiquette is for a food court. Genius business idea!
3. Bathroom. Simple and plain commentary. Please clean it. My wife and daughter doubt to go there. I can count at least 7 times that I have been in that bathroom. 0 times the bathroom was in decent shape. I always find very clever strategies to don't touch anything with my hands on the way out of the bathroom. I am proud of myself.
4. Opening times. First, I got there with family on a Monday at 18Hrs10 (Kitchens are supposedly open at 18Hrs00). Get to a restaurant and tell us: could you please wait 10 min? We are not open yet. I saw the other kitchens with clients, and similar scenes were going on. Second, I arrive a Sat at 12Hrs30 with family and friends. Only two kitchens were opened. Morale? Don't get too early or don't go with high hopes to get something specific. Be like the water.
5. Manager (on Nov 18, 2019 since 18Hrs00 to 18Hrs30) people's skills. My wife and I pick up some nuggets for our 4 year old, and go to Klara to get burgers. We are waiting until the kitchen we want food from is open. My wife and daughter need to go to the bathroom but hesitate. They go to the bathroom and I wait. You know: being like the water. I look for a table. Wife and daughter come to the table. Their hands well washed. I order the food. The waiting time is on (15-20 min according to the Kitchen). Meanwhile, I am chilling with my family. They don't sell negronis anyways. A person from Klara comes to us and explain that Klara is a restaurant and we cannot bring other restaurant's food. We argue we order food and are waiting for it. The person from Klara gets very flustered and say she can take away our daughter food and trash it away or we hide it. Our daughter starts crying. She has no idea what is happening. I ask for the manager to be called. Turns out this person was the manager. And this manager at Klara keeps on her rampage: Trash her food; hide it; our restaurant's rules does not allow any type of outside food. The manager notice that my wife has a bottle of water with her. The manager gets even more mad: You cannot bring water to the restaurant, this is not a picnic area. This is getting out of hands. Daughter keeps crying. I raise my voice and tell her I want to talk to her boss. That person is not there. I ask her for her boss email address and phone number. Tell her we will leave as soon as we get our food. Our priority was to calm down our daughter. She wasn't having a great experience and the manager never got it. We are not against Klara rules against bringing foods from other restaurants. We simply didn't know. This place feels like a food court, functions like a food court, so it was difficult to guess this is a restaurant. If we would have guessed Klara is a restaurant we would have not brought food from another place. And the food issue not even the problem. The problem here is how impolite, untasteful, and rude was the manager in front of a 4.5 years old girl that wanted to finish her dinner and chill with her family. Disgraceful and a total lack of empathy towards a child she made cry. read more
