This was such a surprise to see on Yelp! If this is the case I believe it is, we were contacted by this individual with a critical emergent situation and I immediately saw the individual without an appointment. I spent considerable time assessing the scope of the legal services needed to be performed and provided considerable legal advice. I was not retained, but consulted with this individual over a two week period as the situation developed, wrote a letter of inquiry on the client's behalf as requested, received a response, and discussed options with the individual at that point.
Ultimately, it became clear that this case would evolve into the type of litigation I do not handle as my law practice is generally reserved for family law litigation and uncontested probate matters. When a client's case requires expertise beyond our area of practice, we are required by the Code of Professional Conduct for Lawyers to disclose this to the client. It is our practice to refer clients to qualified attorneys who could possibly handle the case for them, which is exactly what we did in this case. I am sorry I could not provide more legal services for this person and I am very sorry she was disappointed in her experience with my law office. read more
