I had met Dr. Scire's husband at a Laconia based business in January of 2024…read more Through the course of regular conversation, as I was looking for "Rescue Remedy" for my dog, because I had a gift certificate for his store, I mentioned that I was also looking for a new Veterinarian as well. I was delighted when he told me about "their" Alton Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Scire and her staff, from front desk to all the Technicians, were always kind to me which I appreciated because I was going through some very significant health challenges and associated financial changes as well, and I really needed to have a "happy" experience for myself and my dog, Garrison! His needs were: vaccinations, heartworm check, dentistry, and an aggressively growing lump removed. The first visit covered vaccinations, heartworm, fecal and urinalysis. The second visit included his preop bloodwork. The third visit was for the dentistry and surgery performed under one anesthesia, and the fourth visit was for suture removal (included in the fee for the surgery). The charges were as expected and came in UNDER the high end of the range that was quoted. Thankfully, the growth cytology came back benign for cancer! I will always be able to recommend Alton Veterinary Clinic because they were willing to work with the "Scotties Rock Foundation", my source for the funding of Garrison's needs while I was going through cancer screening for myself. I forgot to mention that I am also a Hemorrhagic Stroke survivor as well, dealing with a left side deficit of strength, and they were very accommodating of my medical handicap and personal needs. They also are one of a very limited number of Animal Hospitals in the Lakes Region that still offer a Senior Citizen discount! I will forever be indebted to Dr. Scire and her excellent staff, for their kindness towards Garrison and me!

I should have listened to the advice on the street and picked a different vet to start…read more 1st visit with my first ever pet kitten the front desk clerk tells me in detail about her cat she had to get rid of because it would attack her and others. She kept going on about this cat of hers (that mine reminded her of) who was just horrible. 2nd visit the veterinarian comes in and starts apologizing as she goes to the computer saying "this doesn't usually happen" to which her tech stops her and says "we haven't told her, shes new so we weren't going to" .. obviously at this point they tell me that last visit they forgot to document one of the shots so are unaware if they already gave her some, or if she needs more. then decided they will just go ahead and give her more. 3rd visit I called in the morning to ask if I could bring my children as child care fell through, they told me I would just have to wait in the car with them while the appointment was happening. unfortunately I do have family emergencies happening this week and Come time for the appointment I completely spaced it. My phone reminded me right at the appointment time and I called apologizing and saying I could be there in 15 minutes. they said that they can't fit us in, which I completely understand. they also said there is a $55 missed fee that must be paid prior to rebooking. I asked if there was anyway they would waive this fee, giving it is the first time I've ever done it. They simply refused. I explained a bit more about the situation and they just shut me right down. Heres the thing, I understand the fee. I understand it's a business, however there's a difference between being a GOOD business and just being a business, this showed me exactly what type they are running. I gave them Grace, and treated them as humans the times they messed up. The first time I messed up they charge $55 (oh and another $20 to process the records so I can chance Vets)
