Booked KK Catering for my wedding next year, they contacted me a month ago informing me that they had to cancel our catering due to COVID and that we would receive a refund for our deposit. We booked KK catering 3 months ago to provide the food for our Christmas party we chose street food for 70 adults and burgers and chips for 30 children. Together with Belgium waffles and ice cream We also booked a bar through a local company, an Xbox van, plus entertainment for the children including a Christmas teddy etc. I text the mobile number I was given at 9am in the morning and had no response, at 10.30am I rang the number and woke the guy up, he sounded rough and hungover. I explained who I was and that I was getting worried and wanted to check he was coming to our event and what time who would arrive. He told me he was planning on leaving at 1pm to get to us and was around an hour away. At 3.30pm I was getting extremely worried as my guests where arriving at 5pm and I'd heard nothing, I rang twice and got no answer, this was causing me and my family stress and you can imagine. I got a call back to say he was having trouble with the lights on his trailer and was trying to fix them since 11am! I asked why I had not been informed of this so I could have at least tried to sort something out, he said he had been trying to fix the problem and was now waiting for the AA who were arriving at 5.10pm ! The first thing I did was phone the head office number and got an answer phone! The guy offered me no contingency plans, my guests all arrived hungry expecting the food I'd told them they were getting on the party invites At just before 6pm he told he wasn't coming, I was shocked as I'm sure anyone would be, imagine if you had booked for your wedding! I have got my money back and was sent flowers and chocolates and the offer of a voucher to go out for dinner! That's it, the party cost us almost £5,000 and was ruined by their lack of service and I have been offered no compensation towards my costs and the stress of not being able to feed my guests I want everyone to know about this because it's unacceptable and I've never experienced service like this before, we host 2 or 3 big events a year and I have never not had a catering company turn up We will stick to local in future, how can such a large company let us down so badly? Gave them the final information 7 days before wedding like they ask for. They couldn't move my booking by 1hr originally booked for 3:30-5:30 asked to move to 4:30-6:30. I was told they had another booking straight after so couldn't cater the 1hr change. What they fail to mention in any of their information they need a 3hr set up time before serving. Which begs the question if they had a booking after mine and require 3hrs to set up what time was the other booking eating? They failed to reply to any of my concerns over this for 4 days I had to send another email stating that obviously down to their lack of communication they obviously weren't going to honour the booking. That's when the MD decided to email me instead asking to speak to me 4 days before my wedding, I couldn't speak to him on that day as I was at a family funeral. Spoke the next day and managed to get my deposit back. Went with a local catering company who where fantastic even if more expensive. Mother in law tried to complain on the phone to only be told it was me that cancelled the booking where in all honesty they will just ignore you until you have no option but to cancel. They will also delete negative reviews off Google.If you want a company that is shocking in finalising details or contacting you then go for these guys.
