Gladly chose Adventure Sports for $200 less and canoeing the lower river. Will actively use other outfitters going forward for our annual reunion trips. You tried to undo last years trip and sorry I gave the benefit of the doubt that a group would be honored this year. read more

I believe this is one of the greatest places to go for kayaking in PA. This company offers 17 miles (one of the few), 10 miles, and 6 miles kayaking. If you are looking for a good workout then 17 miles is definitely the option to go for. My group and I kayaked a year or two ago and it took approx. 5 hrs nonstop to get it done. Thus, you may need to show up early to the place around 9 am to account for resting and other delays. Also, the company closes at 6pm and if you return the equipment past 6pm then you will be charged of some penalty... Anyways, my group and I also kayaked 10 miles and it took approx. 3 hrs to be finished. The water in this river is very calm with some currents that may be able to help you out to gain speed from time to time. There is nothing dangerous at this river so you can easily enjoy and have an amazing time with your group. There is a cliff that you can climb almost at the end of the ride where you get to jump down into the water. The height can be approx. 10-15 feet high. The feeling that you get from jumping down can be amazing! read more

My boyfriend and I booked an overnight canoe trip with KC this past weekend. We originally booked 2 kayaks but since we packed a lot of stuff for camping, we decided to rent 1 canoe instead. Carrie (our bus driver) was SO awesome that she was able to call the office and switch our rentals to a canoe and she made it happen! Carrie was a great bus driver + she was funny/friendly. That's what I like - friendly staff, people who love what they do. She also gave us great tips such as bringing our canoes more up the bank wherever we camped because the water levels were high this past weekend. Only reason why I'm not giving 5 stars is because of the prices. I think it's overly expensive that 1 canoe rental for renting it for Saturday and basically half day on Sunday is $100 per person. We were finished at 12pm (to Smithfield Beach) which is half a day. Way too expensive to charge us that. They should have at least gave us a discount for Sunday since the current was extremely fast this past weekend. I have always rented with Edge of the Woods Outfitters because it's $72 per person for an overnight canoe trip, but they couldn't accommodate because they didn't have enough vans. read more

We tent camped for 4 days at Kittatiny and it was a great experience. Beautiful setting with spots available overlooking a river or creek. Some sites had electric, all had water and a picnic table. The fire rings were really small, but we made do. The staff was really friendly. I've never seen cleaner bathrooms and their camp store has amazing. Truly has it all, so don't worry if you forget something. There were maintenance people coming around frequently emptying the trash bins and one day they took our trash for us and gave us an empty bag. Only downsides were proximity to a major, and noisy, road as well as several noisy campers who played music really loud. This is far from tranquil, but is beautiful with amazing staff! read more

We rented canoes from Kittatinny Canoes; we were a group of around 30 people. The registration process was simple enough, we had to sign a waiver. They accept cash as well as credit cards. We did the 11 mile(4.5 hour) trip from Dingmans to Bushkill. The cost was around 45$ per person which seemed a little excessive to me. I guess I was expecting a discount since we were such a large group. I believe they do offer discounts, but you have to register in advance and pay some deposit. They provide free ride back to the base after you reach the end of your trip. Kittatinny Canoes offers a number of options for outdoor activities - canoeing/kayaking/tubing/ziplining/paint ball etc. Their website is really good and provides a lot of details. As for the canoeing trip itself, the water was calm although not very inviting for swimming. We had a great time. Canoeing is a bit of hard work but it's fun! It takes a while to get the hang of rowing/steering but it's not rocket science. One thing that would have been helpful if the folks at the counter/handling the canoes gave some tips to the newbies on how to paddle/steer. We didn't have much issue since most of us had paddled before but I can see that some people might have a little trouble at first. read more

DO NOT USE KITTATINNY. My friends and I have a rafting trip every year for the last five years. There's usually about 20 of us so we typically make a reservation where they require a 50% deposit. Unfortunately our reservation was for last Saturday when the weather was TORRENTIALLY DOWNPOURING. We are from NJ and half our group couldn't even make it from home due to flooded highways. Kittatinny refused (and still refuses) to issue a refund because THEY WERE STILL OPEN. They insist their cancellation policy doesn't cover weather conditions if they're still open. There's no way going down the river in those conditions were even remotely safe. For your own well being, find another company. read more

Staff was very friendly......the value for price is way out of wack. 4 people to tube for basically 1 1/2 hours was $120......and two were children. With camping it was another $80 (perspective, it's $30 in the Federal park). Meh.....I'd reevaluate before I go again. read more

Last year I wrote a bad review for this company and now I'd like to update it as they have redeemed themselves with great service in 2017. We had a fiasco that resulted in the loss of two of our kayaks. (Go ahead, laugh... we've been doing this two day trip for over a decade and I never imaged BEING the idiot that does such a thing, but... it happened) long story short, two star employees 'Kelly & Justin' walked two rigs up river to our island camp site from a nearby take-out and saved the day. On top of all that, our bus driver was awesome & everything ran on time and we couldn't be happier. Thought I'd take the time to say thanks. It was a huge step up from our previous year. read more

I love this place. The people working here are really nice. I go kayaking on a regular basis. The way they have everything set up is easy and convenient. If you come there by car, there is plenty of room to park. Depending on which route you choose, the staff will always drive you to the starting point and you end up right where you parked your car. The Delaware river is beautiful, peaceful and it is never crowded. I live in Brooklyn, NY and especially drive to kayak on the Delaware and use this company. read more

Is it possible to give a company a zero-star rating? Because I would sure like to do that. As many have mentioned in their negative reviews, even if you make a reservation, pay your bill and fill out your waivers ahead of time, you're still funneled in the same long, slow-moving line. So what is the point of doing all that stuff ahead of time? You're in the same line with people who just showed up and need to spend 20 mins making reservations. We waited over an hour on that line and missed our 10am reservation, then also missed the 11am reservation. So now we had to wait until noon and were 2 hours past when we wanted to leave. Finally we get to the shore line and, guess what? More lines. Now they're all out of both life vests (which are required) and rafts. So much for that reservation. Throughout this, NO ONE on staff was helpful. At the river you'd think there'd be someone helping get you situated. Nope. Finally a lifeguard had to come down to get rafts for people because there was no one else there. Nice of him to help, but a lifeguard leaving his post is not a good sign. The actual river rafting itself is probably great if you're a college student or meathead looking to get drunk - it's definitely not for families. There were more drunk people on the river than at a Jets tailgate. Which is fine (alcohol is allowed), but it's not a very family friendly environment (fights, smoking weed, screaming curse words) if that's what you're looking for. I could not recommend more that you stay away. Paying over $200 for four people to rent a raft at this half-assed established is not worth it. read more

We had a 12 noon reservation and reached on time. Couldn't park in the main lot, wait one hour in line and another hour for the shuttle bus. The rafting experience is a joke compared with other rafting agency. No challenge at all, the river is so peaceful that you have to keep rowing the boat otherwise it almost doesn't move. You could even maintain the clothes dry all the way. I was disappointed and don't recommend to anyone. read more

We are very grateful to the staff and crew of Kittatinny Canoes. Last week our family of four rented two tandum kayaks, but with the strong currents, shortly after starting out, one kayak flipped and the other started taking in water. The four of us got to shore safely, and the crew and staff could not have been more helpful. Our valuables including car keys and cell phones were floating down river. We had assume all was lost only to be completely surprised that the crew was able to recover almost everything we had including the most important items - car keys, house keys, wallets and cell phones. Only one cell phone was damaged. The staff and crew are really wonderful. And we hope to visit you again real soon when the currents are milder. LOL. Thank you again! The Lees. read more

Then upon checkin and our horror at lax covid precautions, we were lied to and then I was accused of lying when I relayed (with witnesses) what I was told. I will never book with them again. I would give zero stars if I could. Had a rafting trip booked for 8/1/20. My daughter became ill with fever on 7/29/20. I took her to her Dr and offered to provide a Dr's note in order to get a refund. They refused, telling me unless she had Covid I would not be receiving a refund, partial or otherwise. A couple of friends and I went tubing here a few weeks ago and had a very disappointing experience. We knew the river was higher than usual and were warned that instead of the normal 2 hours to tube down the river, it would probably only take 1.5 hours. So we started our trip and 40 minutes later had reached the end. Now we had rented a car and driven 2 hours to get to this place, so we asked if we could go down the river again so we could get the full 1.5 hour experience we were promised before leaving NYC. Everyone refused, saying they did not have authority to let us go again and that only the manager (who was unavailable all day) did. So we left and ultimately ended up driving 4 hours to go tubing for 40 minutes. I have been tubing many times and have never experienced anything like this -- usually places will have longer rides or let you go as many times as you want. They ended up refunding my money (which is why I am not giving them one star), but it was a disappointing experience. read more

Used these guys for a half day trip down the Delaware. They made a special trip to take my friend and me up the river since the other people were running a bit behind. The two guys who drove us up were chatty and friendly. The canoe was clean, dogs are allowed, and someone was there to meet us at the end. I would definitely use this company again. read more

We had a reservation for 10am. We waited in line with other reserved parties. We didnt get to the river till about Noon. What's the point of a reservation then? Everyone in the line was very, very frustrated. I would assume during peak season, you would run more shuttles or have more than 2 people checking people in, but whatever. The girl at the desk apologized for the wait but thats pretty much it. When calling names for the bus, the girl mispronounced my name (no big deal, happens all the time) but then rather rudely called me 'fancy'. The bus driver was very nice (also correctly pronounced my name unlike the river garbage girl before.) The boy who launched us out was very nice as well. The kayaks had various repair needs, my had a poorly repaired crack right on top. Most were missing the rope handles at the front to pull the kayak. The trip it self was great, beautiful ride (we did the 12 mile back to Dingmans). Because we lost 2 hours waiting in the line we had to rush a bit to make back before the 6pm. read more

Equipment - Excellent Staff attitude - Good Staff levels - Very poor Check in and systems - Very poor Rafting for a group of 16 had reservations (booked 6 weeks earlier) for 11am. We arrived on time and filled out our waivers. The lines were disorganized in that people with or without reservations were in one line, so reservations didn't seem to matter. After 35 minutes in line our group was "checked in." The long wait was because of short staff we were told. We went to the waiting point as a group waiting for the van and rafts to take us upriver. We waited... and waited... We got on a van at 1:10pm to go up to the drop off. NOTE that the van only holds 13 people and yet they took the reservation for 16 (we had kids sit on laps so we didn't have to wait longer). We were launched with good instructions from the van driver/instructor on land marks, safety and to not go onto private property along the river. He was doing his best in a bad situation. So... if they don't have enough staff on a Saturday in August (high season) I will look for other river raft places. This place needs to look at their systems, because it is full of inefficiencies. Kayaked from Dingmans Ferry to Bushkill yesterday. The check in process was a little slow as they only had one person working, but that was okay. Make sure to bring cash as the parking lot is run by the parks and you need $10. After waiting around for like 20 minutes someone came by and just dropped a couple of kayaks off and then left. There was no making sure we knew what we were doing (we did, but not the point) or even letting us know that these were our kayaks, as there were other groups there as well. The river is very calm, which was fine for us. When we got to Bushkill is really where they failed. We waited 1 1/2 hours for the van to come pick us up, despite numerous phone calls. Once they did come we sat for another 20 minutes in a hot van waiting. The aggravation at the end of the trip ruined all the tranquility of the rest of the trip. read more

We were a party of 17 that arrived at Dingmans Ferry at 8:30 with a 9am reservation. After completing paperwork we waited a full hour as other parties arrived and also sat around. There was a lack of workers and no communications. We watched a few buses come and go. Finally we were told to board the bus after one hour and were then told we had to wait for the paperwork to be given to the bus driver. We waited on the bus for another 15 minutes. Needless to say the bus driver could have walked over to the registration building and obtained the paperwork but that would have required some initiative. When we arrived up river we watched for 15 minutes the unloading of about a dozen canoes. That time could have been greatly reduced had the worker asked us to help with moving the canoes down to the water. We got on the water at around 10:30. Next time we will use another outfitter. read more

Just this past weekend we had our annual rafting trip, this year 16 of us. We had made reservations weeks in advance (6 I believe). Our campsite was spacious and nice. And the bathrooms/shower rooms were kept clean the first night (Friday). We had our rafting trip scheduled for Saturday at 11am. We were 45 minutes early, signed the waivers and waited ... and waited ... and waited ... we all started to become agitated because this was eating up our day and scheduled activities for the day! On top of that there was absolutely no organization, there were people checking in, zip line lines, rafting lines .... get rope and stantions and make 3 lines ... organize yourself staff so they don't have to deal with irate guests!! We were FINALLY approached by one of the bus drivers and he said there was a wait because they were short staffed and then continued to go on about the van only fitting 13 people. Well, ok then why would you allow parties larger than 13 without letting them know this?? Regardless we had 2 small children with us and they sat on laps. We finally got onto the river at around 1:30pm ... 2 1/2 hours of waiting. Ridiculous, and pardon me but the poor bus driver all he could say was "oh I'm so sorry we are severely short staffed, everyone went home for school." Well this is something that's known, so plan for this!!!!! The rafts, gear, equipment was all great, we had a blast on the river. Now back to these restrooms and shower rooms ... there was absolutely NOBODY monitoring these wash rooms! Disgusting!! Overflowing trash, toilets clogged and broken, no toilet paper (our group even went out and bought our own!!!!!!!). These washrooms were literally a cestpool of fecal matter and garbage. My fiancé wouldn't even go I to the men's room ... I've been camping all my life and I've never ever seen something this grotesque. Final advice ... plan ahead, organize your staff and lines, and hire people for August and September when you clearly know you have college kids going back to school! read more

This is the greatest place to Kayak on the Delaware River. My friends and I took the Milford to Dingman's Ferry Trip. It was just the right length of time for the newbie. The staff was friendly and well informed of the services they offer and the river. As a newbie I was concerned about the speed of the river. The staff assured me it was safe and that I would have a great time. They were right. The base is next to a wooden bridge that I found had an interesting sound as the cars went over it. read more

The bus to pick us up was roughly 2 hours late, and on top of that, the bus was packed to capacity. Our belongings wouldnt all fit on the bus, so they had a second bus bring our stuff, which caused us to have to wait an additional 30 mins at the launch site. Not happy. Truly the worst kayaking experience ever!!!! My fiancee and I actually walked away prior to even getting in the kayaks , but not prior to paying the 110.00 for the 2 of us. I figured between the RUDE staff fom the woman, actually 2 that had to make my reservation, to the rude woman in the parking lot asking us....and get this "why are you here?" Having to go to 2 different locations, because no one one the tells you anything, to the hr long wait to check in.....and the deal breaker was the beat up equipment that they actually think pass for kayaks. Just about every staff member was as miserable as I was and I spent the money. We are experiences kayakers and usually bring our own kayaks. We stayed at Kittatinny's River Beach Campground for Labor Day weekend and spent one of the days tubing. It was one of my worse experiences camping ever. You might as well go camp in the parking lot at Citizens Bank Park. There is zero privacy. No trees or buffers between sites. They have electrical hookups which seem cool until you realize that means that your neighbors blare their music and shine their lights all night. Literally all night. Quiet hours? What's that? People were screaming, yelling, singing happy birthday at 4am! I have also never seen bathrooms so disgusting in my life. While the staff did clean them (once a day with 30 minute breaks it seems between each stall), the fellow campers were gross. Not heeding the no food in sink signs, not flushing toilets, clogging toilets, tracking mud everywhere. On one hand I feel sorry for the staff because these ignorant campers were disgusting, but, on the other hand, when you do not enforce any rules and again take over 2 hours to clean 4 stalls because you keep taking breaks - what do you expect? Did I mention all the staffers' surly attitudes? Again, I don't blame them because this place sucks, but they definitely did not do anything to make the experience better. Additionally, we decided to go tubing. We were told tubing would take 2.5-3 hours depending on water level. Instead, it only took 1.5 hours and only because we beached ourselves for 30 minutes when we saw that we were close to the end. Tubing was fun and the only brightside of this weekend, yet even that was a rip-off. The only reason that I got any sleep was I had the fortuitous thought to bring along my noise-cancelling headphones. Who would have thought I'd need headphones while camping? Don't camp here, it's a disgusting, noisy party site, and don't tube/kayak here because they lie about the time frame and rip you off. read more

Bad Management - beautiful scenery ----------------------------------------------- The checkin was very sloo...w and it took about 50 mins while we were the 6th family in line. We waited for about 20 mins even though there were 3 buses empty to take us to their Staircase launch location. Once the bus dropped us, that is where the all management pretty much stopped. When we arrived, it seems bunch of families were waiting for their rafts for more than 45 mins. However, when the rafts did arrive (about 20 mins later), there was no management in terms of giving out rafts based how long people were waiting on, instead fights were breaking out between people on trying to take out a raft. This was the most unpleasant part of the trip. The ride on the raft itself was nice with largely calm water and few rapids in between. The scenery around the Delaware river was beautiful, most of the water on the way was pretty clean as well. Will I raft again on the river? - yes, however, not with the same company unless they cut down delays and provide better management. read more
