But problem with the other hotel then came across the street to the Drake where they are warm and welcoming. There place is settle in a small town. There rooms are nice and clean. Love it! As a female, I am picky on where I will stay. I have stayed at the Drake numerous times…read moreand each and every time I have been extremely satisfied! I have stayed there with my husband, and times with my children. We have stayed in standard rooms (love the different 'themes"), and in the 'Big Room' which you have a separate bedroom with a full kitchen & separate living room. The rooms have always been extremely clean, comfortable bedding, and the rates are the best around, etc. The owners/managers, Mike & Diane are very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a great one, whether it's letting you follow them out fishing, giving you info on places to see in the area or just visiting with you. They have a picnic area with a couple of gas grills, which is great with a grocery store nearby; basketball hoop for when our boys are with, etc. This is not a chain motel, it is a family owned and operated and you can tell-it is run with pride and it is a lot less than the 'chain motel' across the street, and the rooms are cleaner, things are nicer & people are friendlier. We have stayed at other smaller motels in the area (and never will again), the Drake is the place to stay. It's becoming our home away from home. If you like to hunt or fish, they also have a cleaning room and freezer space.

We really liked this place and would not hesitate to book here again…read more Pros: Nice quiet location with a super-friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts were good and the place was really quiet at night. It also has a really nice, good-sized indoor pool. It's located just on the outskirts of the town so there's plenty of shopping and lake access in a very short walking/driving distance. Best of all, loons in the lake! Cons: The rooms, or at least the one we had, are a bit dated. Everything certainly looked clean, but definitely a bit worn down. One special note, for those getting the 'economy' room (307?); the bathroom needs some rework. The shower could fit 4 people easily, but the toilet is unbelievably low and is jammed into a corner, making the 'sit down' experience a bit of an adventure. I'm 5' 8" and 225 lbs., and it was definitely an 'issue.' If you're bigger than me, avoid this room until they redo the bathroom. Definitely not enough to take a star off, but something you and they should be aware of.

The hotel looks nice on the outside and the accommodations seemed clean and orderly. But, there was no ice in the ice maker and no hot water when we went to take a shower. Breakfast consisted of a paper bag filled with 3 sausages and a sandwich made of a muffin egg sausage and cheese that we microwaved in the Room. It was pretty tasty. All in all, I just couldn't bring myself to give this place even 3 stars. I also had to pay an extra $10 pet deposit bringing up the total amount I spent to $107 Which I feel was too much for a hotel that doesn't really supplied the things that are necessary. Won't be staying here again thank goodness.

And her stay got extended for another 2 weeks. Entire booking was done by an agent through the employer. This morning she went to reactivate the keys for the next 2 weeks. The lady at the front desk was very rude & unprofessional towards my wife and mentioned that my wife was not supposed to have complimentary breakfast. It was their fault because it was given to her when she checked in. Angie's behavior was as if my wife intentionally went for this lavish breakfast (believe me it's not). It was not her fault. It was their fault. Instead of apologizing for the mistake she gave attitude towards my wife. This is not acceptable. People in Bemidji are extremely nice towards foreigners. But this incident just threw us off. Most of the staff were very nice towards my wife. Next guest please make sure to check the name tag of this unprofessional employee at this hotel. If she doesn't know how to handle customers in a polite professional way, then she should find another profession which doesn't include customer service. Typical Karen attitude on a weekend.

Service was efficient, though not particularly warm or friendly -- but everything we needed was taken care of without issue. Breakfast was a great bonus -- complimentary and tasty! I especially loved making my own mini waffles -- perfectly crispy, sweet, and totally satisfying. We also made use of the pool and hot tub area, which was a highlight. It was a bit chaotic when we stopped by just before 10pm, but after the switch to adults-only hours (10pm-midnight), it was calm and relaxing -- we had the whole space to ourselves! My only wish is that they'd provide full-sized pool towels instead of the tiny hand towel-sized ones. Overall, a clean, comfy, and convenient place to stay -- great value and a great time! Would absolutely stay here again. Our hotel stay suited us perfectly for a weekend getaway with friends! While I can honestly say that I did not expect a place like Bemidji to be on a list of "must see"…read moreplaces to go in the US, here we are. I devote a huge amount of that to our awesome hotel! To begin with the staff was amazing, they were so efficient and kind. The breakfast spread was amazing, also coffee and tea around the clock (excellent cup of coffee might I add, not that weak stuff). Beyond that the amenities were everything we wanted and didn't know we'd be getting. Biking around the lake at sunset, watching the sun go down from the hot tub, and just an overall sense of ease relaxing in front of the fireplace. The king room was so comfortable and quiet, and the bedding was so soft! If you find yourself in this corner of the world check this place out.
