Worked with Ron Cooks for months trying to get a bathroom remodel design completed, materials,…read moreselected, price negotiated, and a contract finalized... only in the end having to walk away because Cooks was demanding 50% of contract price be paid up front upon signing contract. When I offered to pay 25% up front to cover his cost for supplies and to pay the other 25% upon his crew actually showing up to begin the work, he told me that wouldnt work. Even after I advised him that by law, per Ohio code 4722.04, a home construction service contractor can't take any more than 10% of the price of the contract up front, although there is an exception for nonrefundable materials which allows the contractor to charge up to 75% of the cost of those nonrefundable materials up front. After he told me the Ohio code didnt work for him, I knew I needed to walk away before I got scammed. 100% sure had I signed a contract with this company and paid the full 50% down ($30K) upon signing contract, there would have been problems with getting them to start the job, and probably many more afterwards based upon how many CYA clauses RA Cooks puts in their contracts. So glad I moved on from this company, and am heading in a different direction now. Far too many red flags with how this company operates & conducts business.

My wife and I spend a fortune at this store every year, but the customer service has been awful…read morelately. This last weekend we were looking to purchase all new bedding. Back in that section was a congregation (5) of employees looking like they were having a casual chat. A few minutes later we needed help finding out if something we wanted was out of stock or simply in the storages areas we can't reach. We putzed around looking for other bedding items for a good 15 minutes before any sales associates re-appeared. This time there were 2 younger employees congregating in that section. One was sitting in the chairs meant for customers at the desk and they were both staring at their phones. We walked up to them and stood there for a good 30 seconds looking at them (obviously needing their help) when finally I had to ask "Are either of you guys on the clock right now?". We went back the next day to purchase a few things we needed the next day. We didn't need the help of any associates, but when we needed to check out there was a long line and 2 people on register. One was on the phone and not helping anyone. The other left the counter when she was done helping the customer she was with. As the line grew longer and longer (no cashiers checking ANYONE out) we walked up where the girl had previously been checking folks out (the register light was on indicating it was open) and stood there for several minutes watching the other employee still talking on the phone. Management needs to really step it up at this location.
